The GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I supports NVIDIA TurboCache technology, which enhances performance by allowing the graphics processing unit (GPU) to dynamically share available system memory. To install and use the GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I, your system should meet the following minimum requirements:

2. Use a grounded wrist strap before handling computer components. If you do not have one, touch both of your hands to a safely grounded object or to a metal object, such as the power supply case.

3. Place components on a grounded antistatic pad or in the bag that they came in whenever they are separated from the system.

The card should be left in its original packaging until it is installed. Unpacking and installation should be done on a grounded anti-static mat while wearing an anti-static wristband.

Inspect the card carton for obvious damage before proceeding.

Important:

• DO NOT APPLY POWER TO YOUR SYSTEM IF THE GRAPHICS CARD IS DAMAGED.

• To ensure your GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I works correctly, please use only official GIGABYTE BIOS. Using a non-official GIGABYTE BIOS might cause problems with the graphics card.

Follow these steps to install your GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I graphics card:

Step 1. Locate the PCI Express x16 slot on your motherboard. If necessary, remove the metal cover from this slot. Align your graphics card with the PCI Express x16 slot and press it in firmly until the card is fully seated. Make sure the gold edge connector of the graphics card is securely inserted.

Step 2. Replace the screw to fasten the card in place, and then replace the computer cover.

Step 3. Plug the display cable into your card. To connect a D-Sub monitor, use the D-Sub connector. To connect a flat panel display, use the DVI-I connector. To connect an HDMI monitor, use the HDMI connector. Then, turn on the computer and monitor.

Step 4. (For HDMI TV Audio) To enable the S/PDIF function for HDMI audio, follow these steps:

1. Connect the provided S/PDIF cable to the 2-pin S/PDIF header on the graphics card.

2. Connect the other end of the S/PDIF cable to the S/PDIF out header on your motherboard. The red wire connects to the S/PDIF out pin, and the black wire connects to the Ground pin.

Before installing the drivers, make sure your system has DirectX 9 or a later version installed, and that you have installed the appropriate motherboard drivers.

After installing the operating system, follow these steps:

Step 1. Insert the driver disk into your optical drive. The driver Autorun screen should appear. If it does not, go to My Computer, double-click the optical drive, and run the setup.exe program. On the Autorun screen, click the “Install Display Driver” item.

Step 2. In the installation wizard window, click the “Next” button.

Step 3. Read the license agreement and click the “Yes” button to accept.

Step 4. The system will install the driver components. Once complete, click the “Finish” button to restart your computer. The driver installation is then complete.

The GIGABYTE Gamer HUD Lite allows you to adjust the voltage of your GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I graphics card and the working frequency of the GPU, Shader, and video memory. Incorrectly performing overclocking or overvoltage may result in damage to your system.

The functions available in the utility are:

After installing the display driver, you can access the NVIDIA Control Panel to configure your graphics card settings. Right-click on the desktop and select “NVIDIA Control Panel”.

The Control Panel contains several categories for adjusting settings:

• 3D Settings: Change image and rendering settings for 3D applications and games. You can use “Adjust Image Settings with Preview” for a simplified approach or “Manage 3D Settings” for detailed control over individual application settings.

• Display: Configure your display settings.

– Change Resolution: Adjust screen resolution, color depth, and refresh rate.

– Change Flat Panel Scaling: Change how the desktop is scaled when not using the display’s native resolution.

– Adjust Desktop Color Settings: Set contrast, sharpness, and color depth (Digital Vibrance).

– Rotate Display: Change the desktop orientation to portrait, landscape, or inverted modes.

– Set Up Multiple Displays: Use NVIDIA nView technology to manage multiple monitors. You can choose from modes like Single, Clone (same image on both), or Dualview (extended desktop).

• Video & Television: Adjust settings for video playback.

– Adjust Video Color Settings: Fine-tune color settings for video content.

– Adjust Video Image Settings: Fine-tune image settings like edge sharpness or noise filtering for video content.

If you experience problems with your GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I, try the following troubleshooting tips:

• Check that the card is seated properly in the PCI Express x16 slot.

• Ensure that the display cable is securely fastened to the card’s display connector.

• Make sure that the monitor and computer are plugged in and receiving power.

• If necessary, disable any built-in graphics capabilities on your motherboard. For more information, consult your computer’s manual or manufacturer. (Note: Some manufacturers do not allow the built-in graphics to be disabled or become the secondary display.)

• Make sure you selected the appropriate display device and graphics card when you installed the graphics driver.

• Restart your computer. Press <F8> on your keyboard after the system starts up. When the Windows Advanced Options Menu appears, select Safe Mode and press <Enter>. After getting into Safe Mode, check in Device Manager whether the driver for the graphics card is correct.

• If you cannot find the desired monitor color/resolution settings, remember that the available options depend on the graphics card being installed.

• If necessary, adjust your monitor’s settings using the monitor’s adjust panel to make the screen look focused, crisp, and sharp.

To reflash the BIOS on your GIGABYTE GV-N84S-512I, follow these steps:

1. Extract the downloaded BIOS Zip file to your hard disk or a floppy disk. This procedure assumes you are using drive A.

2. Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode. You may need a startup disk to do this.

3. Change the command prompt to A:\>.

4. To back up the current BIOS, at the A:\> prompt, type `[BIOS flash utility name] -s [BIOS file name]` (example: `gvf19 -s n84s5i.F1`) and press Enter.

5. To flash the new BIOS, at the A:\> prompt, type `[BIOS flash utility name] -p [BIOS file name]` (example: `gvf19 -p n84s5i.F2`) and press Enter.

6. Wait until the process is done, then restart your computer.
