For optimal performance, place the GENELEC 4430A so that the line of the acoustic axis points towards the main listening area.

Regarding clearance, maintain at least 3 cm (13/16 in) of space behind, above, and on both sides of the GENELEC 4430A to ensure proper amplifier cooling and reflex port function. If the back side is blocked, ensure adequate ventilation so the ambient temperature remains below 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) at all times.

The two primary mounting points are on the rear side for mounting brackets or the keyhole wall mount adapter. These use metric M6 threads with a 10 mm depth. Do not exceed this depth to avoid thread failure. A 3/8 inch UNC-threaded hole is also provided on the base for additional support on compatible microphone stands, but do not use this as the primary mounting point.

To create a working system with the GENELEC 4430A, you will need the following:

1. An IP switch with a PoE+ (802.3at) output, or an IP switch with no PoE support and a PoE+ power injector.

2. CAT 5 or higher category Ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors.

3. An AES67 or Dante audio-over-IP stream source.

4. A computer running Windows 10 for setup and configuration.

5. The GENELEC 4430A dedicated management software.

6. Dante Controller software or Dante Domain Manager software.

The GENELEC 4430A supports automatic negotiation to set the power level, but you should be aware of the following power standards:

While the GENELEC 4430A works with both standards, using the lower power PoE standard will shorten the duration of high sound pressure level output and cause long continuous output signals to play at lower volumes compared to when using PoE+ power. Therefore, use of the PoE+ power level is recommended.

The ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) function automatically powers the GENELEC 4430A down into standby mode when it is not in use, and powers it back up when use resumes. Powering down occurs after a set time once playback has ended.

The IP network interface remains active in standby mode to allow the GENELEC 4430A to wake up in response to an API command or an incoming IP audio stream. If desired, this function can be configured or disabled using the management software.

To enable the reception of AES67 streams on the GENELEC 4430A, follow these steps:

1. Double click on the GENELEC 4430A unit to be configured to open the Device View window.

2. Click the AES67 Config tab.

3. In the AES67 Mode panel, go to New and select Enabled.

4. In the Reset Device panel, click Reboot to reboot the GENELEC 4430A with AES67 enabled.

The GENELEC 4430A provides a balanced analogue audio input using a screw-mount Euroblock connector. This allows for easy daisy-chaining of the signal to multiple GENELEC 4430A units. The input impedance is 10 kOhm.

When daisy-chaining, the units appear electrically in parallel. Typically, 10 to 20 units can be connected on one balanced line, though this is limited by the output capability of your source device. Avoid connecting the GENELEC 4430A directly to power amplifier outputs; if necessary, use a balanced attenuator, typically requiring about 20 dB of attenuation, to avoid damaging the analogue input.

To reset the GENELEC 4430A to factory settings, press and hold the power button for more than 10 seconds. The GENELEC 4430A will indicate that the reset process has started. You may then release the power button, but do not disconnect the PoE power supplied by the Ethernet cable until the reset process is finished. Once the reset is complete, the GENELEC 4430A will again become available in the management software.

To ensure safe operating conditions for the GENELEC 4430A, observe the following:

1. Servicing and adjustment must only be performed by qualified service personnel.

2. The GENELEC 4430A enclosure must not be opened.

3. Do not expose the GENELEC 4430A to water or moisture, and do not place objects filled with liquid, such as vases, on or near it.

4. Be aware that the GENELEC 4430A can produce sound pressure levels in excess of 85 dB, which may cause permanent hearing damage.

5. Ensure free flow of air around the GENELEC 4430A to maintain cooling; do not obstruct airflow.

6. The GENELEC 4430A is not disconnected from the power supply unless the Ethernet cable is removed; using the power switch on the unit does not disconnect the power.

7. Ensure all mounting surfaces and hardware can safely support the full weight of the GENELEC 4430A.
