How does the 100% Jam Proof System work on the FELLOWES POWERSHRED 425CI?

The Jam Proof System eliminates paper jams and powers through tough jobs. It operates as follows:

Step 1. Advanced Jam Prevention electronically measures paper thickness to prevent jams. The sheet capacity indicator will light up:

• Up to RED: Too many sheets have been inserted.

• Up to YELLOW: Productivity is optimized.

• Up to GREEN: More sheets can be added.

Step 2. If the indicator is in the red, remove several sheets until the indicator is below red.

Step 3. Continue with your shredding job.

If a misfeed occurs, all indicators will light up and the shredder will pause for 3-6 seconds. Wait for the flashing to stop after automatic correction is complete. Regular shredding will then resume. If the reverse indicator illuminates after the paper has been reversed, press reverse and remove the paper. Otherwise, regular shredding will resume.

What does it mean if the Straight Feed indicator illuminates on my FELLOWES POWERSHRED 425CI?

If the Straight Feed indicator illuminates, it means there was a misfeed. You should remove the paper and feed it straight into the shredder.

How do I clean the Auto-Start Infrared Sensors on my FELLOWES POWERSHRED 425CI?

On rare occasions, the paper detection sensors may become blocked by paper dust, causing the motor to run even if there is no paper present. To clean the sensors:

Step 1. Turn off and unplug the shredder.

Step 2. Lift the CD flap.

Step 3. Locate the Auto-start infrared sensor. Two paper detection sensors are located in the center of the paper entry.

Step 5. Using the cotton swab, wipe away any contamination from the paper sensors.

What are the oiling recommendations for the FELLOWES POWERSHRED 425CI?

• All cross-cut shredders require oil for peak performance. If not oiled, a machine may experience diminished sheet capacity, intrusive noise when shredding, and could ultimately stop running. We recommend that you refill the Auto Oil™ reservoir as instructed for optimum performance.

• If shipping the shredder, the oil must be drained. Open the cabinet door and remove the basket to access the oil drain plug. Place a suitable container under the drain, remove the plug, and let the oil drain out. Replace the plug when finished.

What do the various indicator lights on the FELLOWES POWERSHRED 425CI mean?

Low Oil Indicator: When illuminated, the shredder is out of oil and needs to be refilled. Use Fellowes oil (35250).

Bin Full Indicator: When illuminated, the shredder waste bin is full and needs to be emptied. Use Fellowes waste bag 3605801.

SafeSense® Indicator: If hands are too close to the paper entry, the SafeSense® indicator will illuminate and the shredder will stop shredding. If SafeSense® is active for 3 seconds, the shredder will automatically turn off and the user must press the power button on the control panel to resume shredding.

Remove Paper Indicator: When illuminated, press reverse (◄◄) and remove paper. Reduce paper quantity to an acceptable amount and refeed into paper entry.

Door Open Indicator: The shredder will not run if the cabinet door is open. When illuminated, close the door to resume shredding.

Straight Feed Indicator: When illuminated, remove paper and feed straight into paper entry.

Step 2. If not cleared, press reverse (◄◄) briefly. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until the paper is shredded.
