What types of water can the EcoPlus Submersible pump be used with?

EcoPlus Submersible pumps are designed for both fresh and salt water.

Yes, the unit can be used both inside and outside of water.


What are some applications for the EcoPlus Submersible pump?

These pumps are suitable for use in ponds, aquariums, fountains and in combination with filtration systems. Due to their high flow rate and total head, they can be used in settings ranging from large waterfalls to filtration systems.

The vortex impeller and ceramic components allow this unit to be both energy saving and efficient. The unique design of the impeller allows for a dramatic reduction in the frequency of cleaning.

Yes, the pump is provided with a thermal protector that temporarily switches off the pump in case of overheating and the pump may automatically restart.

The pump has a thermally protected enclosure type 3 for indoor and outdoor use.


For what type of liquid has this pump been evaluated?

This pump has been evaluated for use with water only.


Do EcoPlus Submersible pumps require lubrication or special maintenance?

The EcoPlus Submersible pumps do not require lubrication or special maintenance beyond regular cleaning.


What should be checked regarding the power supply before using the pump?

Make sure that the voltage and frequency of power supply comply with the specifications on the product. Check that the supply is rated and is correctly fused.


What type of electrical switch and socket should the pump be connected to?

The pump is only suitable with a Fl-switch 30mA and has to be connected to a regular safety plug socket.


How should the pump’s electrical cord be handled?

Never pull the pump or remove the pump by pulling the cord. Never remove the plug or shorten the cord.


What should be done if the pump’s electricity cable is damaged?

The electricity cable cannot be replaced. If the cable becomes damaged, the pump should be discarded. Do not use this product if the electricity supply cable becomes damaged.


What precautions should be taken to reduce the risk of electric shock with this pump?

Install only on a circuit protected by a Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter (GFCI). This pump is supplied with a grounding conductor grounding-type attachment plug. To reduce the risk of electric shock, be certain that it is connected only to a properly grounded, grounding-type receptacle. For proper installation, see the instruction manual.


How should the electricity supply cord be positioned relative to the plug socket when used with an aquarium?

The electricity supply cord to the pump should extend below the 13-amp plug socket; this is to prevent water drops from making contact with the plug or electricity supply outlet.


What is recommended for use with this pump in or around an aquarium or hydroponic system?

We recommend the use of a ground fault circuit breaker <30mA with this pump and any other electrical products used in or around the aquarium or hydroponic system.


What should I do if the 13-amp supply plug gets wet?

If the 13-amp supply plug gets wet DO NOT TOUCH THE PLUG. Turn off the electrical supply at the circuit breaker before removing the plug.


How should a “drip loop” be arranged for the power cord when using aquarium equipment?

To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or outlet getting wet, position the aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted outlet to prevent water from dripping onto the outlet or plug. A “drip loop” should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to an outlet. The “drip loop” is the part of the cord below the level of the outlet, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the outlet.

Hang the attached airline with its filter outside the aquarium or hydroponic system in a position where it can draw clean air from outside the aquarium or tank to support air bleed.


Where should the pump be placed for water circulation?

Place the pump in an area of the aquarium or hydroponic system where the water can be circulated around in a circular motion.


What is required if the pump is powering an under-gravel filter?

If the pump is powering an under-gravel filter, make sure that the gravel is clean to ensure a good flow rate.


What is an important assembly detail for reattaching the rotor to the pump body?

When reattaching the rotor to the pump body after cleaning, make sure the 2 holes on the impeller base and the 2 dowels on the pump body fit together for proper assembly. The hole and the dowel should be fit together.


How often should the pump unit and impeller be cleaned?

Ensure that the pump unit is cleaned regularly. Clean the impeller at least every month.


How is the impeller accessed for cleaning?

The impeller is situated in the pump housing and can be accessed by holding the pump body and rotating the impeller cover and pulling the pump cover away from the main body.


What should be ensured when disassembling the impeller?

When disassembling the impeller, please ensure that you do not lose the small plastic washers positioned at the top and bottom of the impeller, as these ensure the quiet and efficient operation of the pump.


How should the impeller and housing be cleaned?

Clean the impeller in fresh water, and the housing with cotton swabs or similar to remove all the accumulated debris from the pump and reassemble.


What are the steps for general maintenance and cleaning of the pump?

1. Turn off the power supply, move the pump to a dry location.

2. Loosen the screws from the impeller cover; remove the impeller cover from the pump body by lightly shaking the unit.

3. Pull the rotor assembly away from the pump body.

4. Wash parts with fresh water carefully.

5. Reattach the rotor to the pump body carefully after cleaning; make sure the 2 holes on the impeller base and the 2 dowels on the pump body fit together for proper assembly.

6. Turn the rotor by hand, the rotor should move freely.

7. Check the “O” ring of the pump body.

8. Replace the impeller cover on the pump body and tighten the stainless steel screws.


If the unit is used outside water, how should it be positioned relative to the water surface?

If the unit is used outside water, it should be no less than 6 inches lower than the surface of the water.


What does it indicate if the water output from the pump slows down?

The water output from the pump usually slows down, indicating that the impeller needs cleaning.


Why might the pump air bleed stop working?

The pump air bleed will stop working if the water flow from the pump is reduced. This may be caused by the gravel in the bed of the under-gravel filter becoming so dirty that it reduces flow to the pump.


What should be done if the pump becomes noisy?
