The DYSON V8 CYCLONE is boxed in two main parts: the machine body and the cleaner head/tools. Specifically, the box contains the following items:

1. Machine body

To prevent damage to your flooring when using the DYSON V8 CYCLONE, follow these instructions:

Check that the underside of the cleaner head or tool is clean and free from any objects that may cause damage.

Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs, and carpets, check the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning instructions.

Be aware that the brush bar on your cleaner head or motorised tool can damage certain flooring. Some rug materials may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this happens, it is recommended to vacuum without the motorised floor tool and consult with your flooring manufacturer.

The DYSON V8 CYCLONE features two easy-to-use buttons on the machine:

Power on/off button: The top button turns your vacuum on and off.

Mode select button: The lower button allows you to cycle between three power modes depending on floor type and the level of suction needed.

Eco mode: Use this for longer, lighter cleans.

Medium mode: Use this for regular cleaning.

Boost mode: Use this for stronger suction.

To use the DYSON V8 CYCLONE as a handheld vacuum for awkward spaces, remove the wand and connect your chosen tool directly to the inlet pipe.

Fully charge your DYSON V8 CYCLONE before your first use by connecting to the charger either directly or in the dock. A full charge will take approximately 4 hours. While the battery is charging, the LED will flash to demonstrate the level of charge. Once fully charged, the light will turn off.

To change the battery on your DYSON V8 CYCLONE:

Step 1. Push the Battery release button on the handle and slide the battery off the machine.

Step 2. Align your second battery with the handle and slide it in.

Step 3. Push firmly until it clicks into place.

Empty the bin of your DYSON V8 CYCLONE as soon as the dirt reaches the top level to maintain performance and avoid frequent filter washing.

Step 1. Remove the wand from your machine.

Step 2. Hold the machine over a bin and pull the bin release catch upwards. The cyclone will slide up and the bin base will open to release the dirt.

Step 3. To minimise dust contact, cover the bin tightly in a dust-proof bag while you empty it. Remove the bin carefully and seal the bag before disposal.

Step 4. To close the bin, push down on the cyclone until it slides into position, then push the bin base upwards until it closes securely and clicks.

If you need to clean the bin itself on the DYSON V8 CYCLONE:

Step 1. Empty the bin and remove the cyclone by pulling the bin release catch upwards and then pushing the cyclone release button located behind the cyclone.

Step 2. Pull back on the red catch located on the base, slide the bin down, and pull it off your machine.

Step 3. Wipe the bin with a damp, lint-free cloth. Do not put the bin in a dishwasher or use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners.

Step 4. Ensure the bin is completely dry before replacing it.

Step 5. To replace, align the tabs on the bin with the grooves on the main body and slide it upwards until it clicks into place.

Step 6. Slide the cyclone into the grooves of the main body and push down until it is in position. Push the bin base up until it clicks firmly shut.

The DYSON V8 CYCLONE is fitted with an automatic cut-out. If any part of it is blocked, the motor will pulse and will not function until the blockage is cleared.

Disconnect the machine from the charger before looking for blockages.

Be careful not to touch the trigger and be aware of sharp objects while searching for obstructions.

Leave the machine to cool down before looking for blockages.

Do not use the machine while looking for blockages as this could cause injury.

The Mini motorised tool brush bar is not washable and should be checked regularly for obstructions.

Step 1. Ensure the DYSON V8 CYCLONE is disconnected from the charger and do not touch the power button.

Step 2. Use a coin to unlock the end cap by twisting it.

Step 3. Remove the end cap from the brush bar, but do not wash the end cap.

Step 4. Slide the brush bar out of the cleaner head and clear any debris.

Step 5. Check inside the cleaner head and remove any obstructions. Wipe the tool and brush bar with a damp lint-free cloth.

Step 6. Push the end cap back onto the brush bar and slide it back into the cleaner head.

Step 7. Turn the end cap clockwise into the locked position.

Step 1. Lift the filter out of the top of the cyclone and tap it to remove excess dust and debris.

Step 2. Hold the open end of the filter under a running tap until the water runs clear.

Step 3. Turn the filter upside down and tap it to remove excess water. Run water over the outside of the filter until the water runs clear.

Step 4. Squeeze and twist the filter with both hands to ensure excess water is removed.

Step 5. Leave the filter to dry for at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated, warm place. Do not dry it in a tumble-dryer or near a naked flame. The filter must be completely dry before you put it back into the machine.

Step 6. To refit, align the arrow on the top of the filter with the bin release button and push down to fit securely.

Step 1. Twist the filter anti-clockwise and pull it away from the DYSON V8 CYCLONE.

Step 2. Wash the inside of the filter under cold, running water, rotating it to ensure the entire inside is clean. Repeat until the water runs clear.

Step 3. Empty the filter and shake firmly to remove excess water. Keep shaking until no more water comes out.

Step 4. Place the filter with the open end facing up and leave to dry for at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated, warm place. It must be completely dry before reinstallation.

Step 5. Place the filter back on the machine, aligned in the open position, and twist clockwise until it clicks securely into position.

Step 1. Disconnect the machine from the charger. Press the cleaner head release button and place the cleaner head upside down.

Step 2. Push the end cap up fully and pull the brush bar out of the cleaner head.

Step 3. Remove the end cap from the brush bar. Do not wash the end cap.

Step 4. Hold the brush bar under running water and gently rub to remove lint or dirt. Run your hand down the length of the bar to squeeze out excess water.

Step 5. Stand the brush bar upright with the closed end at the top and leave to dry completely for at least 24 hours.

Step 6. Once dry, reattach the end cap and slide the brush bar back into the cleaner head. Push the end cap back down to the closed position.

For tools like the Crevice tool, wipe them with a damp, lint-free cloth without touching the connector end. Ensure they are completely dry before using.

Do not wash any cleaner head or motorised tool (such as the Mini motorised tool) in water, as they contain electronic components that could be damaged. Do not put any part of the machine in a dishwasher or use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners.

For best performance and battery life, use Boost mode only for an intense burst of power.

Your battery is designed to charge on the dock and stops charging when complete. Returning the machine to the dock after use helps maintain battery life.

The DYSON V8 CYCLONE will not operate or charge if the ambient temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit) to protect both the motor and battery.

The serial number is printed on the main body of the DYSON V8 CYCLONE, behind the back of the clear bin.
