What are the general safety notices for using Dynacord speaker system mounting accessories?
Using Dynacord speaker system mounting accessories is only allowable in compliance with the according mounting instructions and BGV C1 regulations.
To comply with safety aspects we specifically point out that not obeying mounting instructions, altering accessories in any way and using the mounting accessories with systems of other manufacturers can result in weight overload.
All components may only be interconnected and used as prescribed.
What are the general mounting notices for Dynacord accessories?
Use comprehensively dimensioned fasteners (DIN 18800) for the attachment on traverses, ceilings, walls, etc.
Leave this kind of mounting to competent personnel only. All screw joints have to comply with maximum fastening torque values (DIN 898).
What safety measures are required for speaker cabinet systems mounted on-stage or in studios?
Speaker cabinet systems that are mounted on-stage, above the stage or in studios need to be secured against tipping over or falling according to GUV 6.15 (BGV C1) regulations.
This has to be carried out using steel cables (safeties) or chains, which are fit for carrying the corresponding load. Specifically the use of plastic mantled steel wire ropes is not permissible. Obeying all safety measures as stated in these regulations as well as the maximum height of fall of 20cm is mandatory.
Rigged speaker systems always have to be secured against tipping over or falling by an additional, independent safety joint. This can be accomplished for example using an adequately dimensioned steel cable (safety).
Why are accessories for mounting speakers considered safety-relevant?
Accessories for mounting speakers and sound reinforcement systems are safety-relevant parts, which, in the case of failure or collapse, can seriously endanger the life and health of human beings. That is the reason why complying with the safety aspects of the following regulations is absolutely mandatory. Rigging gear is subject to abrasion, continuous wear, etc. That is why the requirements stated in these regulations are as strict as they are, so that safe operation can be guaranteed even after yearlong use.
What are the safety factors according to BGV C1?
| Table according to BGV C1: | Safety Factor |
|---|---|
| chains, cables, clevis, ring eyes, straps, hooks | Factor 12 |
| accessories and corresponding connection elements in mobile applications | Factor 10 |
| accessories and corresponding connection elements in fixed installations | Factor 5 |
What are the safety factors for separate lifting accessories according to DIN 292-2?
| Table according to DIN 292-2: Separate lifting accessories | Safety Factor |
|---|---|
| Steel wire ropes | Factor 5 |
| Chains with welded links | Factor 4 |
| Textile fiber straps | Factor 7 |
| Metal parts | Factor 4 |
What is involved in the inspection and maintenance of mounting accessories?
For safety reasons, inspecting all accessory parts at regular intervals is unavoidable.
Visual examinations should be carried out every time before operation. Things to look for include abrasion, deformation, notches, cracks and corrosion. Damaged accessory parts need to be replaced immediately after detecting the damage.
Inspecting and examining mounting accessories on a regular basis is mandatory in many countries. Therefore, it is absolutely recommendable to have the entire installation checked every year in accordance to BGV C1 regulations by competent and qualified personnel, plus additionally every four years by a certified official expert. Also of major importance in this context is keeping an inspections logbook that holds all information of every accessory part including dates and recurring inspections. This ensures that all the information is immediately at hand whenever it is needed.
How do you attach the double stud holding the steel wire rope to the airline rail?
1. Place the double stud holding the steel wire rope onto the airline rail.
2. Lift the stud’s moveable part to insert it in the profile. Sliding the profile by one hole lets the moveable part snap in, so that it is locked in place.
3. Make sure that the stud is correctly locked in place, i.e. the moveable part has to be down (snapped in) and the stud sits tight in the airline profile.
What should be ensured when connecting the CSST/CSSG rope’s snap-in?
When connecting the CSST/CSSG rope’s snap-in, make sure that its lock is closed again after attaching it to the ring or eyelet and that the hook can freely move in the eyelet or ring.
How do you mount the Dynacord Cobra speaker system?
1. Mount your TC-04 on the truss by tightening the nut and the supplied winged bolt.
2. Hang your CSST/CSSG in the airline rail of the speaker cabinet (check that the double studs sit tight).
3. Insert the hook into the ring eye on the truss until the hook’s lock is closed again.
4. Mounting an additional cabinet below the first is now possible via CSSM connection.
5. An additional strap (WS-04 or WS-08) which is run through the strap eye on the rear of the cabinet allows adjusting the slant of the array.
What is the permissible maximum weight per rope (safety factor 12) for CSST, CSSM, and CSSG?
CSST: 120kg
CSSM: 120kg
CSSG: 120kg
