To complete the system connections for the DENON DCD-F109, you will need the following components:

• A receiver, such as the DRA-F109

• Speaker systems

• Speaker cables

No, a remote control unit is not included with the DENON DCD-F109.

The operational descriptions in the guide that use a remote refer to the remote control unit included with the DRA-F109 receiver (sold separately).

There are five main steps to the setup process for the DENON DCD-F109:

Step 1. Install batteries in the remote control unit.

Step 2. Make the system connection.

Step 3. Turn the CD player’s power on.

Step 4. Play a CD.

Step 5. Play an iPod or USB memory device.

The remote control unit is included with the DRA-F109 receiver (sold separately). To install the batteries:

1. Slide off the back cover of the remote control unit.

2. Insert two R03/AAA batteries, making sure to match the positive (+) and negative (-) ends of the batteries with the markings inside the battery compartment.

3. Replace the back cover.

To connect your DENON DCD-F109 to a receiver like the DRA-F109, follow these steps:

1. Use the coaxial digital cable to connect the DIGITAL OUT (CD) jack on the DCD-F109 to the DIGITAL IN (CD) jack on the receiver.

2. Use the system cable to connect the REMOTE CONNECTOR OUT jack on the DCD-F109 to the REMOTE CONNECTOR IN jack on the receiver.

3. Connect the power cord from the AC IN on the receiver to a wall outlet. The DCD-F109 can be powered by connecting its power cord to the AC OUTLET on the back of the DRA-F109 receiver.

You can turn on the power for the DENON DCD-F109 in two ways:

• Press the power (on/standby) button on the front panel of the CD player.

• Using the remote control unit (sold separately), press either the CD button or the iPod/USB button.

Follow these steps to play a CD on your DENON DCD-F109:

Step 1. Set the DENON DCD-F109’s input source to “DISC”. You can do this by pressing the DISC/USB button on the front of the player or by pressing the CD button on the remote control.

Step 2. Press the eject button on the front panel to open the disc tray. Insert a disc into the tray and press the eject button again to close it.

Step 3. Press the Play/Pause button on the front panel or on the remote control to begin playback.

To play music from an iPod or USB memory device, simply connect the device to the USB port on the front panel of the DENON DCD-F109. Playback will begin automatically once the device is connected.
