To unpack the BROTHER DCP-T426W and check its components, follow these steps:

Remove the protective tape and the film covering the machine.

Note:

The components may differ depending on your country.

Save all packing materials and the box in case you must ship your machine.

We recommend using a USB 2.0 cable (Type A/B) that is no more than 6 feet (2 meters) long (included in some countries).

To fill the BROTHER DCP-T426W ink tanks with starter ink, follow these steps:

1. Open the ink tank cover, remove the cap, and place it on the back of the cover.

2. Remove the film from the ink bottle and tighten the cap firmly.

3. Remove the nozzle cap and insert the bottle nozzle firmly into the ink tank so that the ink does not spill.

4. The bottle is self-standing and the ink fills automatically until the bottle is empty. To fill the ink tank faster, squeeze the bottle on both sides.

5. When finished, remove the bottle, pointing the nozzle upward so the ink does not spill.

6. Replace the ink tank cap. Repeat this step for the other ink tanks, and then close the ink tank cover.

Important: Check the ink bottle model name on the label. Using the incorrect ink may cause damage to the BROTHER DCP-T426W machine.

To load plain Letter paper in the paper tray of the BROTHER DCP-T426W, fan the paper well before placing it in the tray.

To start the initial cleaning of the BROTHER DCP-T426W:

1. Press the Color (Color) button and hold for 3 seconds.

2. The machine will begin initial cleaning.

3. The machine prints the Print Quality Check Sheet.

4. Check the Print Quality Check Sheet. If the print quality does not improve, clean the print head. See “Improve Print Quality” in this guide for more details.

To connect your BROTHER DCP-T426W to your computer:

1. Visit setup.brother.com to download and install Brother software.

2. Connect your BROTHER DCP-T426W machine and computer/mobile device to the same network.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

For USB Connection: Use the USB port inside the machine, as shown.

For Windows only, CD installation is also available (for some countries).

To connect your BROTHER DCP-T426W to your mobile device:

1. Visit brother.com/apps to download and install the Brother iPrint&Scan application.

2. Connect your BROTHER DCP-T426W machine and computer/mobile device to the same network.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

The LED indications for the BROTHER DCP-T426W are as follows:

To make a copy with the BROTHER DCP-T426W, follow these steps:

1. Load the paper in the paper tray.

2. Place the document in the lower right corner of the scanner glass.

3. Press Black Start or Color Start.

For Multiple Copy: In step 3, press Black Start or Color Start once for each additional copy.

For Best Quality Copy: In step 3, press and hold Black Start or Color Start for two seconds.

For Other Copies: Use the Brother iPrint&Scan application on a computer or mobile device.

The BROTHER DCP-T426W allows you to set one specific copy function for the Copy Shortcut button. The default is 2 in 1 ID Copy. After scanning is complete, the machine blinks slowly.

To check the ink volume on your BROTHER DCP-T426W, ensure you do NOT fill the ink tank past the maximum fill mark. When the ink level reaches the lower line, refill the ink tank as soon as possible.

To improve print quality on your BROTHER DCP-T426W, you can clean the print head.

1. Press Stop and Copy Shortcut simultaneously.

2. After cleaning, the machine prints the Print Quality Check Sheet.

3. If print quality does not improve with normal cleaning, try the Special cleaning (Note that this operation will consume a large amount of ink).

4. Make sure all ink tanks are at least half-full.

5. Use the procedure above, but hold Black Start and Color Start simultaneously for five seconds while the Ink LED is blinking.

To remove jammed paper from your BROTHER DCP-T426W, first avoid getting ink on your hands. Then proceed with the paper removal as illustrated.
