What safety precautions should I follow when installing and using the remote control?
For your safety, please adhere to the following precautions:
• Read all instructions carefully, even if you feel you are quite familiar with this unit.
• All fixed wired equipment must be installed by a qualified electrical contractor.
• The supply to the remote control receiver should be connected through a switch, i.e., an existing wall switch.
• Disconnect the power supply before working on the remote control receiver or ceiling fan.
• Install the receiver into the ceiling fan canopy to ensure proper protection.
• The receiver is to be connected to a 230-240V 50Hz supply and used for the control of ceiling fans only.
• Do not install in damp locations. Never immerse in water or allow either component to become wet.
• This unit is for indoor use only.
• Do not modify this unit in any manner.
• Do not pull or cut the leads on the receiver.
• Take care with your unit and take care not to drop the remote or receiver.
• The battery within this unit should be replaced at least once a year to avoid leakage and subsequent damage.
• IMPORTANT: DO NOT DISPOSE OF BATTERY IN FIRE.
How do I correctly wire the receiver?
Ensure the receiver is connected correctly in accordance with the following wiring connections. Incorrect wiring may cause damage to the receiver.
From AC Power Supply to Receiver Input:
• Connect the Brown wire (Active) from the AC Power Supply to the Brown input wire on the receiver.
• Connect the Blue wire (Neutral) from the AC Power Supply to the Blue input wire on the receiver.
From Receiver Output to Fan Motor:
• Connect the Brown output wire (“To Fan Active”) from the receiver to the Brown wire of the fan motor.
• Connect the White output wire (“To Light Active”) from the receiver to the White wire of the fan motor.
• Connect the Blue output wire (“To Fan/Light Neutral”) from the receiver to the Blue wire of the fan motor.
How do I install the remote control receiver?
IMPORTANT: The receiver is not designed to be used together with a Fan Wall Controller. The Wall Controller should be removed and replaced with an isolation switch.
1. Disconnect mains power before installation.
2. Connect the remote control receiver to the bracket and ceiling fan through the quick connectors. The AC Power Supply wires are Brown (Active), Blue (Neutral), and Yellow/Green (Earth). The wires to the fan are Brown (Fan Active), White (Light Active), Blue (Neutral), and Yellow/Green (Earth). Ensure the antenna is not cut or broken during installation.
3. Set the codes on both the receiver and transmitter to be the same.
4. Once the connection and codes have been made, insert the receiver into the drop rod hanging bracket. The canopy is then raised to conceal the receiver and bracket.
What are the functions of the remote control transmitter buttons?
• Timer: Sets a timer for the fan.
• Turn Fan ON/Off: Powers the fan on or off.
• Turn Light On/Off: Powers the fan light on or off.
• Light Dimming: Dims the fan light.
• Fan – High Speed: Sets the fan to high speed.
• Fan – Medium Speed: Sets the fan to medium speed.
• Fan – Low Speed: Sets the fan to low speed.
How do I mount the transmitter wall mount holder?
Attach the transmitter wall mount to a mounting surface using the fixing screws supplied.
How do I remove the battery cover on the remote?
To remove the battery cover, press down on the cover and slide it out in the direction of the arrow.
How do I set the code switch for the remote and receiver?
• Codes are set by pushing the 4 DIP switches UP or DOWN on both the receiver and the remote transmitter.
• It is imperative that the code entered is exactly the same for both the transmitter and receiver; otherwise, the remote control will not work.
• The code switch enables you to operate a second remote controller independently. For example, if you have two ceiling fans with 2 remote control units, you can operate each ceiling fan independently by setting 2 different codes for each set of transmitter/receivers.
• Following battery installation and code setting, your remote control is ready to use.
What should I do if the fan is not operating or not operating correctly?
If your fan is not working correctly, check the following probable causes and suggested remedies:
| PROBABLE CAUSES | SUGGESTED REMEDY |
|---|---|
| Mains power not connected. | – Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker. – Turn ON isolation switch. |
| Wall controller is not removed and is interfering with remote operation. | Remove the fan wall controller, and replace with an ON/OFF switch for the remote. |
| Battery in the remote is flat. | Replace with a new battery. Do not mix up the old and new battery. |
| Power to the fan has been switched OFF at the isolation switch. | Switch the isolation switch ON to power the remote receiver unit. |
| Remote Control Receiver wiring is incorrect. | Verify wiring connections according to the label and wiring diagram. |
| Transmitter and receiver Pairing (DIP) switches do not match. | Set the transmitter and receiver to the same switch setting. |
| The remote control is out of range of the receiver. | Move the remote control closer to the receiver. |
Why does the fan operate only at close range?
If your fan only works at close range, check the following probable causes and suggested remedies:
| PROBABLE CAUSES | SUGGESTED REMEDY |
|---|---|
| Other devices operating on a similar frequency. | Change pairing code switches on both the receiver and remote. |
| Battery is flat. | Replace the battery with the same type (AAA). |
Why is the fan operating intermittently, turning on without the remote, or not responding?
If your fan is behaving erratically, check the following probable cause and suggested remedy:
| PROBABLE CAUSES | SUGGESTED REMEDY |
|---|---|
| RF interference or interference from similar ceiling fans in neighboring buildings. | Change pairing (DIP) switch settings to a different code. Each pair of transmitter and receiver must have a unique DIP switch code. |
