What are the safety precautions for the Clean&Charge Station for my BRAUN 5050CC?
To prevent the cleaning fluid from leaking, ensure that the Clean&Charge Station is placed on a flat surface. When a cleaning cartridge is installed, do not tip, move suddenly or transport the station in any way as cleaning fluid might spill out of the cartridge. Do not place the station inside a mirror cabinet, nor place it on a polished or lacquered surface.
The cleaning cartridge contains a highly flammable liquid so keep it away from sources of ignition. Do not expose it to direct sunlight and cigarette smoking nor store it over a radiator.
Do not refill the cartridge and use only original Braun refill cartridges.
How do I prepare my BRAUN 5050CC for its first use?
Prior to first use, remove the protection foil if any from the shaver display. Connect the shaver to an electrical outlet using the special cord set to begin charging. When the shaver is connected to an electrical outlet, it may take some minutes until the display illuminates.

How do I understand the display indicators on my BRAUN 5050CC?
The shaver display shows the following statuses:
Charge status:
• During charging: The battery symbol will blink.
• Fully charged (when connected to an electrical outlet): The battery symbol will light up for a few seconds.
Low charge:
• The low-charge light flashes red when the battery is running low. You should be able to finish your shave. When switching off the shaver, a beep sound reminds you of the low charge status.
Cleaning status:
• The cleaning indicator lights up when the shaver needs to be cleaned in the Clean&Charge Station.
Travel lock:
• The lock symbol lights up when the shaver has been locked to avoid unintended starting of the motor (e.g., for storing it in a suitcase).
What are the steps for a perfect dry shave with the BRAUN 5050CC?
For best results, follow these 3 simple steps:
1. Always shave before washing your face.
2. At all times, hold the shaver at the right angle (90°) to your skin.
3. Stretch your skin and shave against the direction of your beard growth.
How do I use the MultiHeadLock switch (head lock) on my BRAUN 5050CC?
To shave hard-to-reach areas (e.g., under the nose), slide the MultiHeadLock switch down to lock the shaver head. The shaver head can be locked in five positions. To change position, move the shaver head with your thumb and forefinger back or forth. It will automatically click into the next position.
To set it back into the pivoting position, the MultiHeadLock switch needs to be slid up again.
For automatic cleaning in the Clean&Charge Station, the head lock should be released.

You can clean the shaver with water or with a brush.
Cleaning with water:
• Switch the shaver on (cordless) and rinse the shaver head under hot running water until all residues have been removed. You may use liquid soap without abrasive substances. Rinse off all foam and let the shaver run for a few more seconds.
• Next, switch off the shaver, press the release button to remove the Foil & Cutter cassette and let it dry.
• If you regularly clean the shaver under water, then once a week apply a drop of light machine oil on top of the Foil & Cutter cassette.
Cleaning with a brush:
• Switch off the shaver. Remove the Foil & Cutter cassette and tap it out on a flat surface. Using the brush, clean the inner area of the pivoting head. Do not clean the cassette with the brush as this may damage it!

7. Slowly close the housing by pushing it down until it locks.
How do I charge and clean my BRAUN 5050CC in the Clean&Charge Station?
Insert the shaver head down into the cleaning station. Important: The shaver needs to be dry and free from any foam or soap residue!
The contacts on the back of the shaver need to align with the contacts in the station. Push the shaver in the correct position. A beep sound confirms that the shaver sits properly in the station. Charging will start automatically.
When the cleaning indicator lights up in the shaver display, insert the shaver into the Clean&Charge Station, upside down and with the front showing (with released head lock/contact alignment/beep sound).
How do I start the automatic cleaning process for my BRAUN 5050CC?
Start the cleaning process by pressing the start button. If the status light does not shine (Clean&Charge Station switches to stand-by after ca. 10 minutes), press the start button twice. Otherwise cleaning will not start. For best shaving results, we recommend cleaning after each shave.
Each cleaning program consists of several cycles, where cleaning fluid is flushed through the shaver head. The cleaning time takes up to 3 minutes. During this time the status light blinks. Leave the shaver in the station for drying. It takes several hours until remaining moisture evaporates.
How do I remove my BRAUN 5050CC from the Clean&Charge Station?
Hold the Clean&Charge Station with one hand and tilt the shaver slightly to the front to release it.
When and how should I replace the cleaning cartridge for the BRAUN 5050CC Clean&Charge Station?
When the level indicator lights up permanently red, the remaining fluid in the cartridge is sufficient for about 3 more cycles. When the level indicator blinks red, the cartridge needs to be replaced (about every 4 weeks when used daily).
After pressing the lift button to open the housing, wait for a few seconds before removing the used cartridge to avoid any dripping. Before discarding the used cartridge, make sure to close the openings using the lid of the new cartridge, since the used cartridge will contain contaminated cleaning solution.
The hygienic cleaning cartridge contains ethanol or isopropanol. Each cartridge, if not used daily, should be replaced after approximately 8 weeks to ensure optimal disinfection.
What should I do if my BRAUN 5050CC does not start when I press the start button?
There are two possible reasons for this issue:
1. The travel lock is activated. To fix this, press the on/off switch for 3 seconds to unlock the shaver.
2. If you have a Wet&Dry model (5040s), it cannot be operated while plugged in. Unplug the shaver. This appliance can only be operated cordlessly.
Why doesn’t my BRAUN 5050CC charge completely and keeps blinking?
The ambient temperature is likely out of the valid range. The recommended ambient temperature for charging is 5 °C to 35 °C.
What should I do if charging does not start when my BRAUN 5050CC is connected to a power socket or in the Clean&Charge station?
There could be several reasons:
1. The shaver is not placed properly in the Clean&Charge station. Ensure the contacts of the shaver align with the contacts in the station.
2. Sometimes charging could be delayed (e.g., after long storage). Wait a few minutes to see if charging starts automatically.
3. The ambient temperature is out of the valid range. The recommended ambient temperature for charging is 5 °C to 35 °C.
Why does the shaver head of my BRAUN 5050CC have an unpleasant smell?
This may happen if:
1. The shaver head is cleaned with water only. When cleaning with water, use hot water and from time to time some liquid soap (without abrasive substances). Remove the foil & cutter cassette to let it dry.
2. The cleaning cartridge has been in use for more than 8 weeks. Change the cleaning cartridge at least every 8 weeks.
Why has the battery performance of my BRAUN 5050CC dropped significantly?
There are two primary reasons:
1. The shaver head is regularly cleaned with water but not lubricated. If you regularly clean with water, apply a drop of light machine oil on top of the foil once a week for lubrication.
2. The foil and cutter are worn, which requires more power for each shave. Renew the foil & cutter cassette.
What should I do if the shaving performance of my BRAUN 5050CC has dropped significantly?
This could be due to a clogged or worn shaving system:
1. If the shaving system is clogged, soak the foil & cutter cassette in hot water with a drop of liquid dish soap. Afterwards, rinse it properly and tap it out. Once dry, apply a drop of light machine oil on the foil.
2. If the foil and cutter are worn, renew the foil & cutter cassette.
Why are battery segments in the display of my BRAUN 5050CC being skipped?
This happens when the foil and cutter are worn, which requires more power for each shave, leading to a decrease in battery capacity. You should renew the foil & cutter cassette and regularly oil the shaving system, especially when cleaning with water only.
Why is the shaver head of my BRAUN 5050CC still damp after cleaning in the station?
There are a few possible causes:
1. The drying time after automatic cleaning was too short. Clean the shaver directly after shaving to allow enough time for drying.
2. The drain of the Clean&Charge Station is clogged. Clean the drain with a wooden toothpick.
3. The cleaning cartridge has been used for a long time. The ethanol/isopropanol proportion has decreased while the oil proportion has increased. Remove residue with a cloth.
What should I do if the Clean&Charge Station does not start cleaning when I press the start button?
Please check the following:
1. The shaver is not placed properly in the Clean&Charge Station. Insert the shaver so that the contacts align properly.
2. The cleaning cartridge does not contain enough cleaning fluid (the level indicator blinks red). Insert a new cleaning cartridge.
3. The appliance is in stand-by mode. Press the start button again.
Why has the consumption of cleaning fluid increased in my BRAUN 5050CC Clean&Charge Station?
The drain of the Clean&Charge station is likely clogged. To resolve this, clean the drain with a wooden toothpick and regularly wipe the tub clean.
