What is the intended use of this accessory?
This accessory is intended for the MUM9 kitchen machine (“OptiMUM” series) for use with the MUZ9VL1 continuous-feed shredder. Follow the operating instructions for the kitchen machine and the continuous-feed shredder.
Never use the accessory for other appliances. Only use matching parts together.
This accessory is suitable for dicing food. Food which is to be processed must not contain any hard components (e.g. bones). The accessory must not be used for processing other objects or substances.
What are the key safety instructions for this accessory?
Risk of injury!
Never reach into the feed chute. Only use the pusher provided!
Never grasp the sharp blades or edges of the dicer insert. Take hold of the cutter disc and cutting grid only by the plastic part! Clean with a brush.
When the dicer insert is not in use, always leave assembled and store with the blade guard fitted.
The accessory must be completely assembled before use. Never assemble the accessory on the base unit. The accessory should only be used in the intended operating position. Before attaching or removing the accessory, wait until the drive has come to a standstill and pull out the mains plug.
The dicer insert may only be used with the MUZ9VL1 continuous-feed shredder.
Caution!
Check that there are no foreign objects in the feed chute or housing. Do not insert objects (e.g. knives, spoons) into the feed chute or housing.
Important!
It is essential to clean the accessory thoroughly after each use or after it has not been used for an extended period.
What should I do before using the appliance for the first time?
Before the new accessory can be used, it must be fully unpacked, cleaned and checked.
Caution! Never operate a damaged accessory!
Remove all accessories from the packaging and dispose of all packing materials.
Check that all the parts are present and examine them for obvious damage.
Thoroughly clean and dry all parts before using for the first time.
What do the symbols and markings on the appliance mean?

What foods can be processed with the dicer insert and what are some important notes?
The dicer is for cutting potatoes (raw or boiled), carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, onions, bananas, apples, pears, strawberries, melons, kiwifruit, eggs, soft sausage (e.g. mortadella), and boiled or fried boneless poultry meat.
Notes:
The dicer insert is not suitable for slicing very soft cheese (e.g. mozzarella, sheep’s cheese).
In the case of sliced cheese (e.g. Gouda) and hard cheese (e.g. Emmentaler) the quantity processed in one cycle must not exceed 3 kg.
Fruit/vegetables should not be too ripe as the juice may escape.
Before processing pip and stone fruits (apples, peaches, etc.), remove the pips or stones.
Leave cooked food to cool down before dicing it as it will then be firmer and the dicing result will be better.
Before processing boiled or fried meat, remove the bones.
Do not process frozen food.
What are the recommended speeds for different types of food?

Caution!
If these guidelines are not observed, the dicer, including the cutting grid and the rotating blade, may be damaged. If the dicer is not used as intended, is modified or is used improperly, Robert Bosch Hausgeräte GmbH cannot assume liability for any resulting damage. Also excluded is the liability for damage (e.g. blunt or deformed blades) which result from processing unapproved food.
How do I prepare and assemble the dicer insert for use?
Risk of injury
Do not grasp the sharp cutter disc or cutting grid. Take hold of the cutter disc and cutting grid only by the edge!
Before attaching or removing the accessory, wait until the drive has come to a standstill and pull out the mains plug.
The accessory must be completely assembled before use.
Never assemble the accessory on the base unit.
The accessory should only be used in the intended operating position.
Caution! The dicer insert may only be used with the MUZ9VL1 continuous-feed shredder.
Assembly Steps:
1. Insert the cutting grid into the base holder as shown. Observe the recesses.
2. Fit the cutter disc with the blade guard onto the base holder.
3. Press in the 4 catches until they engage.
4. Insert the disc holder in the housing. Both wings must be at the bottom.
5. Fit the dicer insert onto the disc holder.
6. Remove the blade guard.
7. Fit the lid.
8. Rotate the lid in a clockwise direction as far as possible.
How do I use the continuous-feed shredder with the dicer insert?
Risk of injury: Never reach into the feed chute. Only use the pusher provided when adding food.
Caution!
Prevent the cut ingredients from building up in the outlet opening.
Do not apply great force with the pusher.
Important: Only prepare the base unit as described in the main operating instructions. The continuous-feed shredder can only be operated if the bowl is fitted properly (without lid).
Operating Steps:
1. Position the prepared continuous-feed shredder on the front yellow drive as shown.
2. Press down and rotate in a clockwise direction as far as possible.
3. Plug the mains plug into the mains. Turn the rotary switch to the recommended speed.
4. Add the prepared food to the feed chute.
5. Only use the pusher provided to add food.
6. When you have finished processing or when the processed food in the bowl almost reaches the outlet opening, turn the rotary switch to O. Wait until the drive comes to a standstill. Disconnect the mains plug.
7. Press the release button and raise the swivel arm with the continuous-feed shredder to the stop.
8. Rotate the bowl clockwise, empty and remove it.
9. Press the release button and push the swivel arm down to the stop.
10. Rotate the continuous-feed shredder anticlockwise and remove.
Clean all parts directly after use.
How do I remove blockages or build-ups?
Switch the appliance off, wait until the drive has come to a standstill and pull out the mains plug.
Remove the lid of the continuous-feed shredder and empty the feed chute.
To remove any food stuck in the cutting grid, remove and clean the dicer insert.
How do I disassemble and clean the dicer insert after use?
Risk of injury: Never grasp the sharp blades or edges of the dicer insert. Take hold of the cutter disc and cutting grid only by the plastic part! Clean with a brush.
Caution!
Do not use any cleaning agents containing alcohol or spirits.
Do not use any sharp, pointed or metal objects.
Do not use abrasive cloths or cleaning agents.
Do not wedge plastic parts in the dishwasher as they could become permanently deformed.
Disassembly and Cleaning Steps:
1. Rotate the lid of the continuous-feed shredder in an anticlockwise direction and remove.
2. Fit the blade guard onto the cutter disc.
3. Remove the dicer insert.
4. Press the 4 catches outwards. Remove the cutter disc with the blade guard.
5. Push out any remaining pieces of food using the cutting grid cleaner.
6. Push the cutting grid out from below with the cleaner.
Clean the blade guard, cutter disc and cutting grid with a detergent solution and a soft brush.
Clean the base holder by hand or put in the dishwasher.
Allow all parts to dry.
Once the individual parts of the dicer insert are dry, re-assemble for safe storage, making sure you fit the blade guard.
Clean the parts of the continuous-feed shredder as described in the instructions for the MUZ9VL1.
Note: When processing food such as carrots, the plastic parts may become discoloured, but this can be removed with a few drops of cooking oil.
