What are the critical safety warnings for installation and operation?

WARNINGS:

When connecting refrigerant piping, do not let substances or gases other than the specified refrigerant enter the unit. The presence of other gases or substances will lower the unit’s capacity, and can cause abnormally high pressure in the refrigeration cycle, potentially leading to explosion and injury.

Do not allow children to play with the air conditioner. Children must be supervised around the unit at all times.

Installation must be performed by qualified personnel according to installation instructions. Defective installation can cause water leakage, electrical shock, or fire. (In North America, installation must be performed in accordance with NEC and CEC requirements by authorized personnel only.)

Contact an authorized service technician for repair or maintenance.

Only use included accessories, parts, and specified parts for installation. Using non-standard parts can cause water leakage, electrical shock, fire, and unit failure.

Install the unit in a firm location that can support its weight. If the location is inadequate or installation improper, the unit may drop and cause injury/damage.

For electrical work, follow all local/national standards, regulations, and the Installation Manual. Use an independent circuit and single outlet. Do not connect other appliances to the same outlet. Insufficient capacity or defects can cause shock or fire.

Use specified cables for electrical work. Connect tightly and clamp securely to prevent external forces from damaging terminals. Improper connections can overheat, cause fire, or shock.

Arrange wiring properly so the control board cover closes securely. An improperly closed cover can lead to corrosion, terminal overheating, fire, or shock.

In environments like kitchens, server rooms, etc., use specially designed air-conditioning units.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or qualified persons to avoid hazards.

This appliance can be used by children 8 years+ and persons with reduced capabilities if supervised or instructed on safe use and understand the hazards. Children shouldn’t play with it. Cleaning/maintenance shouldn’t be done by unsupervised children.


What are the safety cautions I should be aware of?

CAUTIONS:

Do not install the unit where combustible gas leaks might occur. Gas accumulation could cause fire.

Do not operate the air conditioner in wet rooms like bathrooms or laundry rooms. Water exposure can short circuit electrical components.

The product must be properly grounded during installation to prevent electrical shock.

Install drainage piping according to instructions. Improper drainage can cause water damage.


What should I know about the fluorinated gasses in this unit?

This air-conditioning unit contains fluorinated gasses. Refer to the unit label for specific gas type and amount.

Installation, service, maintenance, and repair must be done by a certified technician.

Product uninstallation and recycling must be done by a certified technician.

If a leak-detection system is installed, check for leaks at least every 12 months.

How does the indoor unit display panel work?

The display panel attaches to the control board inside the concealed ducted unit. Diagnostic codes must be read at the unit display. The infrared remote is for diagnosis only and doesn’t communicate with the wall-mounted controller.

What are the operating temperature ranges for the air conditioner?

Operating the unit outside these ranges may activate safety features and disable the unit.

How can I optimize the performance of my air conditioner?

Keep doors and windows closed.

Limit energy usage by using TIMER ON and TIMER OFF functions.

Do not block air inlets or outlets.

Regularly inspect and clean air filters.


What happens if the power fails? (Default Setting & Auto-Restart)

Default Setting: When the AC restarts after a power failure, it defaults to factory settings (AUTO mode, AUTO fan, 76°F). This might differ from your remote control settings. Use the remote to update the status.

Auto-Restart (some models): If power fails, the system stops. When power returns, the Operation light on the indoor unit flashes. Press the ON/OFF button on the remote to restart. If the system has an auto-restart function, it will restart with the previous settings automatically.


What is the three-minute protection feature? (some models)

This feature prevents the air conditioner from activating for approximately 3 minutes after it restarts immediately following operation, protecting the unit.


What is the Refrigerant Leak Detection System? (some models)

If a refrigerant leak occurs, the LCD screen will display “EC” and the LED indicator light will flash.


How do I clean the indoor unit?

BEFORE CLEANING OR MAINTENANCE: ALWAYS TURN OFF YOUR AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM AND DISCONNECT ITS POWER SUPPLY.

CAUTION:

Use only a soft, dry cloth. If the unit is very dirty, use a cloth soaked in warm water.

Do not use chemicals or chemically treated cloths.

Do not use benzene, paint thinner, polishing powder, or other solvents. They can crack or deform the plastic surface.

Do not use water hotter than 104°F (40°C) to clean the front panel, as this can cause deformation or discoloration.


How do I clean the air filter?

A clogged filter reduces cooling efficiency and can be bad for health. Clean the filter every two weeks.

WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE OR CLEAN THE FILTER BY YOURSELF. Removal and cleaning can be dangerous. This must be performed by a certified technician.

For Ducted Return Installations: If you plan a ducted return, remove the filter from the unit and reinstall it at the wall register for easier maintenance access.

For Direct Return Installations:

1. Refer to diagrams in the manual for filter location based on unit configuration (Rear ventilated or Descending ventilated).

2. Remove the air filter.

3. Clean the filter by vacuuming the surface or washing it in warm water with mild detergent.

– If using water, ensure the inlet side faces down and away from the water stream.

– If using a vacuum, ensure the inlet side faces the vacuum.

4. Rinse the filter with clean water and let it air-dry completely. DO NOT dry in direct sunlight.

5. Reinstall the filter.

CAUTION:

Before changing/cleaning the filter, turn off the unit and disconnect power.

When removing the filter, avoid touching metal parts inside the unit; sharp edges can cut you.

Do not use water to clean the inside of the indoor unit; this can destroy insulation and cause shock.

Do not expose the filter to direct sunlight when drying; it can shrink.


How should I maintain the unit during long periods of non-use?

Clean all filters.

Turn on the FAN function until the unit dries out completely.

Turn off the unit and disconnect the power.

Remove batteries from the remote control.


What checks should I perform before the cooling/heating season starts (Pre-Season Inspection)?

Check for damaged wires.

Clean all filters.

Check for leaks.

Replace batteries in the remote control.

Make sure nothing is blocking air inlets and outlets.

CAUTION:

Maintenance and cleaning of the outdoor unit should be done by an authorized dealer or licensed service provider.

When should I turn off the unit and call for service immediately?

Turn off your unit immediately and contact an authorized service provider if any of these occur:

You smell a burning odor.

The unit emits loud or abnormal sounds.

A power fuse blows or the circuit breaker frequently trips.

Water or other objects fall into or out of the unit.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX THESE YOURSELF!


Why won’t my unit turn on when I press the ON/OFF button?

The unit has a 3-minute protection feature to prevent overloading. It cannot restart within three minutes of being turned off.

In Cooling/Heating models, if the Operation light and PRE-DEF indicator are lit, the outdoor temperature is too cold, and the unit’s defrost cycle is active. Wait for the cycle to complete.


Why does the unit switch from COOL/HEAT mode to FAN mode?

The unit might change settings to prevent frost buildup. Once the temperature increases, it will return to the selected mode.

The set temperature has been reached, causing the compressor to turn off. The unit will resume operation when the temperature fluctuates.


Why is the indoor unit emitting white mist?

In humid regions, a large temperature difference between room air and conditioned air can cause white mist.


Why are both the indoor and outdoor units emitting white mist?

When the unit restarts in HEAT mode after defrosting, white mist may be emitted due to moisture generated during the defrost process.


Why does the indoor unit make noises?

A rushing air sound may occur when the louver resets its position.

A squeaking sound may be heard when the system is OFF or in COOL mode, or when the optional drain pump is operating.

A squeaking sound may occur after running in HEAT mode due to the expansion and contraction of plastic parts.


Why do both the indoor and outdoor units make noises?

Low hissing sound during operation: Normal; caused by refrigerant gas flowing through the units.

Low hissing sound when system starts, stops, or defrosts: Normal; caused by refrigerant gas stopping or changing direction.

Squeaking sound: Normal expansion and contraction of plastic and metal parts due to temperature changes during operation.


Why does the outdoor unit make noises?

The unit will make different sounds based on its current operating mode. This is normal.


Why is dust emitted from the unit?

The unit may accumulate dust during long periods of non-use. This dust will be emitted when the unit is turned on. Covering the unit during inactivity can mitigate this.


Why does the unit emit a bad odor?

The unit may absorb odors from the environment (e.g., furniture, cooking, cigarettes) and emit them during operation.

The unit’s filters may have become moldy and need cleaning.


Why doesn’t the outdoor unit fan operate?

During operation, the fan speed is controlled to optimize product performance. It may not run constantly.

How do I hang the indoor unit?

1. Determine drill locations for ceiling anchors based on unit dimensions.

2. Prepare the hanging support structure (wooden framing, concrete anchors, or steel angle based on ceiling type).

3. Align refrigerant pipes, drain pipes, and wires with connection points before mounting.

4. Drill 4 holes (4” deep) at ceiling hook positions, holding the drill at a 90° angle.

5. Secure bolts using provided washers and nuts.

6. Install the four suspension bolts.

7. With at least two people, lift and secure the indoor unit. Insert suspension bolts into the unit’s hanging holes. Fasten with washers and nuts.

8. Mount the unit onto the bolts using a block. Ensure the unit is flat using a level indicator to prevent leaks. Confirm minimum drain tilt is 1/100 or more.

CAUTION: Ensure the threaded rod is completely vertical and level at all 4 corners.

9. Install pipes and wires after the main body is installed. Determine pipe direction beforehand, especially if a ceiling is involved.


How do I install ducts and accessories?

1. Install the filter at the register for maintenance access, or on the unit if using direct return.

2. Install field-supplied fiberboard supply and return plenums (if any).

4. Connect the duct according to the diagram, using canvas tie-ins.

How do I convert from rear air return to bottom air return?

1. Take off the ventilation panel and flange from the rear.

2. Bend the rear ventilation panel 90 degrees along the dotted line to create a descending ventilation panel (specific models).

3. Change the mounting positions of the ventilation panel and air return flange to the bottom opening.

4. When installing the filter mesh, fit it into the flange as illustrated.


How do I perform motor and drain pump maintenance?

Motor Maintenance (using rear ventilated panel as example):

1. Take off the ventilated panel.

2. Take off the blower housing.

3. Take off the motor.

Pump Maintenance:

1. Remove four screws from the drain pump.

2. Unplug the pump power supply and water level switch cable.

3. Detach the pump.


How do I drill the wall hole for connective piping?

1. Determine the wall hole location based on the outdoor unit’s position.

2. Use a 2.5in core drill to drill a hole through the wall.

3. Ensure the hole is drilled at a slight downward angle (outdoor end about 0.5in lower than indoor end) for proper water drainage.

4. Place the protective wall cuff in the hole to protect edges and help seal upon completion.

CAUTION: When drilling, avoid wires, plumbing, and other sensitive components.


How do I connect the drain hose?

Improper installation can cause unit and property damage.

CAUTION:

Insulate all piping to prevent condensation and water damage.

Incorrectly bent or installed drainpipe can cause leaks and water-level switch malfunction.

In HEAT mode, the outdoor unit discharges water. Ensure the drain hose is placed appropriately to avoid water damage/slippage.

DO NOT pull the drainpipe forcefully; it could disconnect.

NOTE ON PROPER DRAIN PIPING:

Installation requires PVC piping. Flexible plastic drain tubing is discouraged.

When using extended drainpipe, tighten the indoor connection with an additional protection tube to prevent loosening.

Slope the drainpipe downward at least 1/100 gradient to prevent backflow.

Support the pipe with hanging wires every 39-59” to prevent sagging.

If the outlet is higher than the pump joint, use a lift pipe (max 21.7″ from ceiling board, <7.9" from unit).

Keep the hose level or slightly tilted up (<3") to prevent air bubbles.

Indoor Drainpipe Installation Steps:

1. Cover the drainpipe with heat insulation to prevent condensation/leakage.

2. Attach the drain hose mouth to the unit’s outlet pipe. Sheath the hose mouth and clip firmly with a pipe clasp.

3. Pass the drain hose through the wall hole. Ensure water drains safely, not causing damage or slipping hazards.

NOTE: Drain outlet should be at least 1.9″ above ground. If discharging into a sewer, ensure a U or S trap prevents odors from coming back.


What are the requirements for refrigerant pipe length and drop height?

Pipe length affects performance and efficiency. Nominal efficiency is tested at 16.5ft. Standard length in North America is 25ft. A minimum run of 10ft is required to minimize vibration/noise.

When are oil traps needed in the refrigerant piping?

CAUTION: Oil Traps

If the indoor unit is installed higher than the outdoor unit: Oil flowing back to the compressor can cause liquid compression or poor oil return. Install an oil trap in the rising gas piping every 32.8ft of vertical suction line riser to prevent this.

If the outdoor unit is installed higher than the indoor unit: It’s recommended not to upsize vertical suction risers. Maintain proper suction gas velocity (above 1500 fpm) for oil return. If velocities drop below 1500 fpm, oil return decreases. Install an oil trap every 20ft of vertical suction line riser.


How do I cut refrigerant pipes correctly?

Proper cutting and flaring ensure efficient operation and minimize future maintenance.

1. Measure the distance between indoor and outdoor units.

2. Use a pipe cutter to cut the pipe slightly longer than measured.

3. Ensure the cut is at a perfect 90° angle. Avoid oblique, rough, or warped cuts.

CAUTION: DO NOT DEFORM PIPE WHILE CUTTING. Be careful not to damage, dent, or deform the pipe, as this drastically reduces efficiency.


How do I remove burrs from cut pipes?

Burrs affect the air-tight seal and must be completely removed.

1. Hold the pipe downward to prevent burrs from falling inside.

2. Use a reamer or deburring tool to remove all burrs from the cut section.


How do I flare pipe ends?

Proper flaring is essential for an airtight seal.

1. After removing burrs, seal pipe ends with PVC tape to prevent contamination.

2. Sheath the pipe with insulating material.

3. Place flare nuts on both ends, facing the correct direction (cannot be changed after flaring).

4. Remove PVC tape when ready to flare.

5. Clamp the flare form on the pipe end. The pipe must extend beyond the flare form edge according to the table below.

6. Place the flaring tool onto the form.

7. Turn the flaring tool handle clockwise until the pipe is fully flared.

8. Remove the tool and form. Inspect the pipe end for cracks and even flaring.

How do I connect the refrigerant pipes?

Connect the low-pressure pipe first, then the high-pressure pipe. Avoid excessive torque or deforming the pipe. Use of an approved refrigerant sealant is recommended for all flare joints.

Minimum Bend Radius: When bending connective refrigerant piping, the minimum bending radius is 4 inches.

Instructions for Connecting Piping to Indoor Unit:

1. Align the center of the two pipes to be connected.

2. Tighten the flare nut by hand as much as possible.

3. Use a spanner to grip the nut on the unit tubing.

4. While firmly gripping the unit tubing nut, use a torque wrench to tighten the flare nut according to the torque values below. Loosen the flare nut slightly, then tighten again.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE TORQUE. Excessive force can break the nut or damage piping. Do not exceed torque requirements.


What are the regulations for electrical wiring?

BEFORE PERFORMING ANY ELECTRICAL WORK, READ THESE REGULATIONS:

1. All wiring must comply with local/national codes and regulations and be installed by a licensed electrician.

2. Make all connections according to the Electrical Connection Diagram on the indoor/outdoor unit panels.

3. If there’s a serious power supply safety issue, stop work immediately. Explain to the client and refuse installation until resolved.

4. Power voltage should be 90-110% of rated voltage. Insufficient supply can cause malfunction, shock, or fire.

5. Power must be from a dedicated circuit with the correct amperage breaker, run through an approved electrical disconnect box near the condenser.

6. Ensure proper grounding of the air conditioner.

7. Every wire must be firmly connected. Loose wiring can cause terminal overheating, malfunction, and fire.

8. Prevent wires from touching/resting against refrigerant tubing, compressor, or moving parts.

9. If the unit has an auxiliary electric heater, install it at least 40″ away from combustible materials.

10. Avoid touching electrical components soon after power supply is turned off to prevent shock.

11. Do not cross electrical wiring with signal wiring to prevent distortion and interference.

WARNING: BEFORE PERFORMING ANY ELECTRICAL OR WIRING WORK, TURN OFF THE MAIN POWER TO THE SYSTEM.


How do I wire the indoor unit?

1. Prepare the cable:

a. Use wire strippers to strip the rubber jacket from both ends of the signal cable (reveal about 5.9″).

b. Strip insulation from the ends of the individual wires.

c. Use a wire crimper to crimp u-lugs onto the wire ends.

2. Remove the electric control box cover on the indoor unit.

3. Connect the u-lugs to the terminals, matching wire colors/labels to the terminal block labels. Firmly screw each u-lug to its corresponding terminal. Refer to the Wiring Diagram on the control box cover.

4. Clamp the cable down using the cable clamp.

5. Insulate any unused wires with electrical tape. Keep them away from electrical or metal parts.

6. Reinstall the electric control box cover.


How do I install the outdoor unit?

After finishing all indoor air handler installations, proceed to install the outdoor unit. Complete installation instructions and startup procedures are in the separate outdoor unit installation manual.
