The carton disconnects from its base and lifts off over the top of the display. Follow the instructions on the carton to remove the upper carton from the base. Carefully unpack the display and accessories from the delivery carton by lifting the display from the base, being careful to avoid damage.

Observe the following safety points for the BENQ V3253:

Do not place the display on an uneven, sloping or unstable surface.

Do not place the display near water or in a position where it may be splashed or sprayed.

Do not place the display near or above sources of heat, such as radiators, heaters, or other heat generating items.

Do not place the display in direct sun or where direct sun or spot lighting will shine onto the display.

If recessed into a wall opening, leave at least 50 to 100mm of free space at the top and bottom for ventilation.

If wall mounting, allow at least 30mm of space on top for attaching the display to the bracket.

Do not cover or block the vents and openings while the display is switched on.

Do not place the display in an enclosed place without allowing for ventilation.

Step 1. Unwrap the power cable and plug the appropriate end into the AC input socket on the rear of the BENQ V3253.

Step 2. Connect the other end into an appropriate wall power outlet and switch it on. The display will enter standby mode and the power indicator will light up red.

Step 1. Turn the remote control end up and open the lid of the battery compartment by using a coin to rotate the slot 90 degrees anticlockwise.

Step 2. Insert the batteries ensuring that the positive and negative terminals match the markings in the compartment.

Step 3. Refit the lid by inserting the hinge into the recess and levering it down.

Step 4. Use a coin to rotate the locking slot 90 degrees clockwise to lock the lid in place.

When the BENQ V3253 is first turned on, the First Turn On menu will display. Follow these steps:

Step 1. Use the left, right, up, and down buttons on the remote control or display to navigate, and use the OK button on the remote or Input button on the display to make selections.

Step 2. Select the Language, Country, and TV Standard.

Step 3. Select the Auto Installation menu item and press the OK button on the remote control. The display will begin searching for available programs, tuning, sorting, and storing them.

Always turn off the display by pressing the power button before cleaning. Do not use cream, liquid, aerosol, or spray cleaners. Use only a slightly damp, well wrung out (drip-free), lint-free, clean soft cloth and lightly wipe the BENQ V3253. If necessary, use a pH-neutral liquid dish-washing detergent diluted with water on a separate clean lint-free cloth to remove oil or grease marks, then wipe over again with a clean dry lint-free cloth.

The BENQ V3253 supports the following signal inputs:

Analog TV source: 1 x Coaxial analog TV Antenna.

Video source inputs: 2 x S-Video, 2 x Composite Video, and 2 x SCART.

Graphic source inputs: 2 x Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr) or (Y/Cb/Cr), 1 x HDMI/DVI, and 1 x PC D-Sub.

Press the INPUT button on your BENQ V3253 or the Input button on your remote control. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the available inputs until your desired input is displayed.

To increase volume, press the Volume + button on the remote control or the Volume up button on the BENQ V3253. To decrease volume, press the Volume – button on the remote control or the Volume down button on the display.

Press the Mute button on the remote control to turn off the audio temporarily. To restore the sound level, press the Mute button once more, or press the Volume up or Volume down button on the BENQ V3253.

To select a single-digit program, press the corresponding program selection button on the remote control. To select a double-digit program, press the Program entry button on the remote control, and then enter the program number using the program selection buttons.

The Recall button allows you to quickly return to the previously viewed program on the BENQ V3253. It toggles between the two most recently viewed programs.

Press the Sleep button on the remote control to enter the sleep timer function. Press the button again to set the time interval in increments of 30 minutes, from 0 to 180 minutes. The BENQ V3253 will go into standby mode after the set time expires.

Connect the AV1 or AV2 (SCART) terminal on the back of the BENQ V3253 to the SCART terminal on your AV equipment using a SCART cable.

Step 1. Connect the video output of your PC to the PC D-SUB terminal on the BENQ V3253 using a 15-pin mini D-Sub cable.

Step 2. Connect the audio output of your PC to the BENQ V3253 PC AUDIO input terminal using an appropriate mini-jack stereo audio cable.

The Child Lock function prevents access to selected programs on the BENQ V3253. This affects the RF Antenna input and prohibits the selection or display of any program that has had its PR Lock menu item set to On. The correct password is required to unlock and view those programs once the Child Lock Activate menu item is set to On. The default password is 0000.

The SCART outputs for the BENQ V3253 depend on the selected input. See the table below:

Step 1. From the TV Menu, select Manual Installation and press the OK button.

Step 2. If the Country is set to Other, select the appropriate TV standard for your region.

Step 3. Select Selected PR and enter the TV program number you want to set up.

Step 4. Highlight Frequency and press the left or right buttons to start tuning. If incorrect, repeat until the desired program is located.

Step 5. Highlight Fine Tune and adjust if image or sound is poor.

Step 6. If a SCART signal input is connected, set Decode to On for an external decoder set-top box, or Off if not.

Step 7. Highlight Text Code to select a code format for Teletext.

Step 8. Highlight Store on Prog. and press the OK button to save the program to the BENQ V3253 memory.

If the BENQ V3253 does not turn on:

Check that the power plug is securely inserted into both the AC Mains socket on the display and the wall outlet, and that the wall outlet is switched on.

Check that power is available from the wall outlet by testing it with another appliance.

Ensure the BENQ V3253 power is ON (indicated by a green power indicator on the front). Try a different input source to check if the source is at fault. Check for mis-connection of cables or if the wrong input source is selected.

Your TV antenna signal may be affected by interference from automobiles, trains, high-voltage transmission lines, neon signs, or other sources. Try redirecting or relocating your antenna to reduce the effects of the interference on your BENQ V3253. If the antenna is exterior, have a suitable qualified and experienced antenna specialist adjust it.

The power indicator flashing red on the BENQ V3253 means one of the following:

Check the PC cable for disconnection.

The PC input has been selected but there is no PC source signal available.

The display has been placed in PC standby mode.

The “Out of range” message appears when the PC input signal resolution is set too high for the BENQ V3253. The highest acceptable PC timing is 1360 x 768 at 60Hz.
