Included accessories are one storage basket, one instruction manual, and one plastic scraper.

Follow these steps before operating your new freezer:

1. Remove the exterior and interior packing.

2. Check to ensure you have the storage basket, instruction manual, and plastic scraper.

3. Before connecting the unit to a power source, let it stand upright for approximately 2 hours. This reduces the possibility of a cooling system malfunction caused by handling during transportation.

4. Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water using a soft cloth.

For correct installation of the AVANTI CF146, follow these guidelines:

1. The appliance is designed to be free standing only and should not be recessed or built-in.

2. Place the freezer on a floor strong enough to support the unit when it is fully loaded.

Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the supplied power cord. It is recommended that a separate circuit, serving only your freezer, be provided. Do not use an extension cord or an adapter with this appliance.

The temperature control for the AVANTI CF146 is located on the lower right-hand corner. Follow these operational steps:

1. Initial Startup: When you first turn the unit on, switch the thermostat to the MAX setting and run for at least 2 hours before putting frozen foods inside. This ensures the cabinet is thoroughly chilled.

2. Temperature Range: The control range is from MIN (warmest) to MAX (coldest). The MID setting is generally appropriate for standard home or office use.

3. Turning Off: To turn the freezer off, turn the temperature control to the OFF position. Note that this stops the cooling cycle but does not shut off the power to the freezer.

4. Adjustments: If you change the thermostat setting, adjust the control by one numerical increment at a time and allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize between adjustments.

5. Power Interruptions: If the unit is unplugged, loses power, or is turned off, you must wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting the unit, or it will not start.

Defrost the AVANTI CF146 when the frost on the walls is excessive or 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Follow these steps:

1. Remove all frozen food and place it in a cooler for protection.

2. Turn the thermostat knob to OFF and unplug the freezer. Ensure the amber power light is out.

3. Remove the drain plug on the inside floor of the freezer by pulling it straight out.

4. Place a shallow pan outside the drain outlet to catch the defrost water. Check the pan occasionally to prevent overflow.

5. Clean the interior of the freezer after the ice has melted.

6. Replace the drain plug on the inside floor.

7. Reset the thermostat to the desired setting and allow the cabinet to cool for one hour before returning food to the freezer.

Caution: Do not use boiling water or sharp metallic instruments to remove frost, as this may damage the plastic parts or cooling coils and void the warranty. Use the provided plastic scraper instead.

To maintain the AVANTI CF146, follow these cleaning instructions:

1. Turn the temperature control to OFF, unplug the unit, and remove all food and the storage basket.

2. Wash the inside with a damp warm cloth containing a baking soda solution (2 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water).

3. Wash the storage basket with a mild detergent solution.

4. Keep the door gasket (seal) clean to ensure the unit runs efficiently.

5. Clean the outside of the freezer with mild detergent and warm water, then dry both the interior and exterior with a soft cloth.

6. Vacuum the condenser coils when they become dusty or dirty.

Vacation Preparation:

1. Short Vacations: Leave the freezer operating for vacations of less than three weeks.
