This product supports caller ID services offered by most telephone service providers. Caller ID allows you to see the name, number, date, and time of calls. The available caller ID information will appear after the first or second ring. Caller ID with call waiting lets you see the name and telephone number of the caller before answering the call, even while on another call. You may need to contact your telephone service provider to subscribe to these features, and fees may apply. Services may not be available in all areas. The product provides information only if both you and the caller are in areas offering caller ID service and use compatible equipment. The time and date are from the service provider. Caller ID information may not be available for every call, as callers can intentionally block their names/numbers. You can view a maximum of 15 digits of a caller ID log entry; to view numbers between 16 and 24 digits, save the entry to the directory.

What is Smart Call Blocker?

If you have subscribed to caller ID service, Smart Call Blocker helps filter robocalls, telemarketing calls, and unwanted calls, while allowing welcome calls to get through. You can set up lists of welcome callers (allow list, directory, star name list) and unwelcome callers (block list). Smart call blocker allows calls from welcome callers and blocks calls from unwelcome callers.
For other unknown calls (uncategorized or without numbers), you can choose to:
  • Allow these calls.
  • Block these calls.
  • Forward these calls to the answering system.
  • Screen these calls (ask caller to press # or record their name).
When screening, after the caller completes the request (presses # or records name), the phone rings and announces the name (if recorded). You can then choose to accept, block, or forward the call to the answering system. If the caller doesn’t respond or record their name, the call is blocked. Adding welcome callers to your allow list ensures they bypass screening.
Notes:
  • Smart call blocker is on by default when you install your phone, allowing all calls initially. You can change settings to screen calls.
  • With screening active, calls from numbers/names not in your directory, allow list, block list, or star name list are screened.
  • You can easily add incoming numbers to your allow/block lists.
  • To turn off Smart call blocker completely, see “Set Smart call blocker on/off”.

  • Calls without numbers: Calls that are “out of area” or with numbers set to “Private”.
  • Uncategorized calls: Calls with absent caller ID number, numbers not in your directory/allow/block list, or caller ID names not in your star name list.
Note: The allow list stores up to 200 entries, the block list stores up to 1,000 entries, and the star name list stores up to 10 names.

If your provider uses seconds instead of rings, allow about six seconds per ring to determine the setting (e.g., if voicemail answers after 30 seconds (5 rings), set your system to 3 rings (18 seconds)). This allows the second caller to leave a voicemail message if you are on a call or the answering system is busy recording another message. Contact your telephone service provider for instructions on programming your voicemail settings.

What is the message capacity of the answering system?

The system can record up to 99 messages, depending on length. Individual messages can be up to 1, 2, or 3 minutes long (based on setting), with a maximum total recording time of approximately 22 minutes. Messages remain until deleted.
  • Low Memory: If less than three minutes recording time remain, it announces, “Less than three minutes to record.” before playback. “Rec mem low” displays in idle mode.
  • Full Memory: Announces, “Memory is full,” before playback. “Rec mem full” displays in idle mode. You cannot turn the system on (if off) or record new messages until old ones are deleted. “Memory full” displays if trying to turn on via handset when memory is full.
The message counter on the base shows the number of stored messages (flashes for new messages).

What are voice prompts?

The system provides voice prompts to guide you through setup procedures (like using the Voice Guide feature), message playback, remote access, and recording outgoing announcements.

How do I add and register handsets/headsets/speakerphones?

Your system supports up to 12 DECT 6.0 devices (handsets, headsets, speakerphones). Additional compatible handsets (like AT&T CL80067, CL80107, CL80117) or headsets/speakerphones can be purchased separately. Visit https://telephones.att.com/accessories for compatible devices. Each new device must be registered to the base. Handsets provided are pre-registered (HANDSET 1, etc.). Additional devices get sequential numbers (up to HANDSET 12).

To register a cordless handset:

  1. Ensure the handset is out of the base/charger and shows “To register HS, see manual.”
  2. Place the handset onto the telephone base cradle (not a charger).
  3. The handset shows “Registering…. Please wait”. The base IN USE light turns on.
  4. Once registered, the handset shows “HANDSET X Registered” (X is the number), beeps, and the IN USE light turns off.
If registration fails (shows “Registration failed” then “To register HS, see manual.”), try again from Step 1. It may take up to five minutes. Note: Cannot register if another system handset is in use. For headset/speakerphone registration, refer to their manuals.

How do I deregister all handsets?

Deregister if you have 12 devices and need to replace one, or wish to change handset numbers. You must deregister ALL devices, then re-register the ones you want to use. This also deregisters headsets/speakerphones.
  1. Ensure ALL handsets are out of the base and chargers.
  2. Press and hold FIND HS on the telephone base for about 10 seconds, until the IN USE light starts flashing.
  3. Release FIND HS.
  4. Immediately press FIND HS again while the light is still flashing. (If it stops flashing, start over from step 2).
  5. Deregistration takes up to 10 seconds. Handsets will eventually display “To register HS, see manual.”
  6. Re-register desired handsets following the registration instructions.
Notes:
  • If deregistration fails, reset the system (unplug base power, wait, plug back in) and try again.
