What should I do before using the AMBIANO WTF-99E-2 Electric Handheld Slicer for the first time?

1. Unpack the Electric Handheld Slicer from the box.

2. Wipe clean all the parts with a soft damp cloth or sponge and warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. DO NOT IMMERSE THE ELECTRIC HANDHELD SLICER BASE IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.

3. Using a damp cloth or sponge, wipe the motor base.

DO NOT USE ANY ABRASIVE MATERIAL TO CLEAN THE SURFACE.

DO NOT IMMERSE THE SLICER BASE INTO WATER AT ANY TIME.

How do I operate the AMBIANO WTF-99E-2 Electric Handheld Slicer?

1. Do not plug the slicer in until ready to use.

2. Attach the feed chute to the slicer base. This is done by holding the feed chute at a 45 degree angle to the right, inserting it into the socket on the slicer base, then rotating it 45 degrees back to the left so that it is locked into place in the upright position. This may seem very hard to do the first few times, however the more it is placed on and taken off, the easier it will become.

3. Select a colored cone suitable for the slicing, shredding or grating task you require and fit it onto the star shaped drive mechanism at the back of the feed chute. Rotate it slightly clockwise to hold it in place. WARNING: The shredding and slicing cones are very sharp. Please handle with care.

4. Place the splash guard onto the feed chute, turning counter-clockwise to lock it into place. Note: The splash guard must be secure in order to hold the cone in place.

5. Prepare the fruit and vegetables before use by washing the produce before it is used. Remove stones from cherries, peaches, nectarines, apples, etc.

6. Cut the ingredients into pieces that will fit into the feed chute, if necessary, and place a suitable container under the splash guard.

7. Place the food upright in feed chute until it is full. Plug the power cord into an outlet and turn the slicer on and apply pressure evenly with the food pusher. Failure to properly load the feed chute or to apply the correct pressure may result in the food falling over in the feed chute which will result in uneven slices and shreds.

8. Turn OFF the slicer and unplug the power cord immediately after use.

9. To disassemble, remove the splash guard, then the cone, then the feed chute.

What are some helpful hints for using the AMBIANO WTF-99E-2 Electric Handheld Slicer?

• All food slices and shreds better when it is fresh and firm. If ingredients are too soft, they will clump together and accumulate in and around the cone. If the ingredients are too hard, the slicer and cones may be damaged.

• Semi-soft cheeses should be refrigerated overnight or put in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before shredding. Hard cheeses should be at room temperature.

• Use lighter pressure on the food pusher for thinner slices and shreds, and firmer pressure for thicker slices and shreds.

• Fruits such as strawberries and kiwi should be firm, not overripe to slice. These fruits can also be put in the freezer for a few minutes before slicing.

• Certain fruits with a tougher skin, such as apples, should be peeled before slicing or shredding.

• Remove skin from thick-skinned fruits, such as melon and pineapple.

• Remove stones from cherries, peaches, nectarines, apples, etc.

• Some foods can be double processed, for example you can shred carrots and run them through again for grated carrots. And cheese can be shredded twice to get grated cheese.

• Do not be concerned if bits of food remain on top of the slicing/shredding cone after you have completed slicing or shredding. This is normal.

What foods should I not process with the AMBIANO WTF-99E-2 Electric Handheld Slicer?

• This slicer is not designed to shred onions or slice cheese or chocolate.

• This slicer is not designed to process meats or tomatoes.

• To avoid personal injury or damage to the unit, do not attempt to slice foods that are too hard to be cut with an ordinary knife.

• This slicer/shredder was not designed to chop ice, or grind coffee beans. You will damage the unit.

What is the maximum continuous run time for the AMBIANO WTF-99E-2?

The slicer should not run for more than 30 seconds continuously. After 30 seconds, allow 1-2 minutes to cool down. If it overheats it will cut out automatically and reset when sufficiently cool.

What should I do if the AMBIANO WTF-99E-2 slicer stops during operation?

If the slicer stops during continuous shredding or slicing, an ingredient may be stuck or overloaded within the mechanism or cone. Unplug the appliance, take the cone and the feed chute off the motor base and free the food from each piece. Return the feed chute and then cone to the motor unit and continue.
