To change the Bulb/LED used for illumination of your ALTUS ABM396 refrigerator, call your Authorised Service Agent. The lamp(s) used in this appliance is not suitable for household room illumination. The intended purpose of this lamp is to assist the user to place foodstuffs in the refrigerator in a safe and comfortable way. The lamps used in this appliance have to withstand extreme physical conditions such as temperatures below -20 °C (only chest and upright freezer).


What preparation is needed before using my ALTUS ABM396 for the first time?

• Your fridge/freezer should be installed at least 30 cm away from heat sources such as hobs, ovens, central heaters, and stoves, and at least 5 cm away from electrical ovens and should not be located under direct sunlight.

The indicator panel on your ALTUS ABM396 allows you to set the temperature and control other functions. Functions may vary depending on your model. Here are the common features:

Internal Display (Model 1)

Freezer compartment indicator: Light is on when the freezer temperature is being set.

Error status indicator: Activates if there is a sensor fault or cooling issue. “E” is displayed on the freezer indicator, and numbers like “1,2,3…” on the fridge indicator to inform service personnel.

Temperature indicator: Shows the freezer and fridge compartment temperatures.

Vacation function button: Press for 3 seconds to activate. “- -” is displayed for the fridge, and no active cooling is performed in that compartment. Press again to cancel.

Temperature setting button: Changes the temperature between -24°C… -18°C and 8°C…1°C.

Compartment selection button: Switches between setting the fridge and freezer temperatures.

Economy mode indicator: Activates when the freezer is set to -18°C, indicating energy-saving operation.

Internal Display (Model 2)

Quick Fridge button: Press “Quick Cool” to set the fridge compartment.

Fridge compartment selection button: Sets the fridge temperature to 8, 6, 4, and 2 respectively.

Quick Freezer button: Press “Quick Freeze” to set the freezer compartment.

Freezer compartment selection button: Sets the freezer temperature to -16, -18, -20, and -24 respectively.

External Display

Power failure/High temperature/error warning indicator: Illuminates during power failures or high-temperature warnings. Press the alarm off button to clear the warning.

Energy saving function (display off): Automatically activates when doors are kept closed. The energy saving symbol illuminates, and other symbols turn off. Pressing any button or opening the door cancels the function.

Quick Cool function: Press briefly to activate/deactivate. Use this to cool large amounts of fresh food in the fridge compartment. It cancels automatically after 1 hour.

Fridge compartment temperature setting button: Sets fridge temperature from 8 down to 2.

Vacation Function: Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate. The fridge compartment stops active cooling. Press again to cancel.

Alarm off warning: Press to clear power failure/high-temperature alarms.

Key lock: Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate/deactivate. Prevents temperature settings from being changed.

Eco fuzzy: Press and hold for 1 second to activate. The refrigerator will start operating in the most economic mode after 6 hours. Press and hold for 3 seconds to deactivate.

Freezer compartment temperature setting button: Sets freezer temperature from -16 to -24.

Quick freeze function button: Press to activate/deactivate. Cools the freezer compartment to a lower temperature than the set value. Use this for freezing large amounts of fresh food. It cancels automatically after 24 hours.


How should I freeze fresh food in my ALTUS ABM396?

• We suggest you wrap or cover the food before placing it in the refrigerator.

• Hot food must cool down to room temperature before being put in the refrigerator.

• The foodstuff you want to freeze must be fresh and in good quality.

• Foodstuff must be divided into portions according to the family’s daily or meal-based consumption needs.

• The foodstuff must be packaged in an airtight manner to prevent them from drying, even if they are going to be kept for a short time.

• Materials used for packaging must be tear-proof and resistant to cold, humidity, odour, oils, and acids, and must also be airtight.

• Frozen food must be used immediately after they are thawed and should never be re-frozen.

• Do not freeze too large quantities of food at one time. The quality is best preserved when it is frozen right through to the core as quickly as possible.

• Placing warm food into the freezer compartment causes the cooling system to operate continuously until the food is frozen solid.

• Take special care not to mix already frozen food with fresh food.

How do I make ice with my ALTUS ABM396?

For standard ice container (depends on model):

1. Remove the ice container from the freezer compartment.

2. Fill the ice container with water.

3. Place the ice container in the freezer compartment. About two hours later, the ice is ready.

4. Remove the ice container from the freezer compartment and twist it over a plate. Ice cubes will easily fall down onto the plate.

For Twist Ice-matic (depends on model):

1. Remove the water tank by rotating it to the left.

2. Open the water tank cover by turning it and add water to the water tank up to the lower part of the water tank cover.

3. Place the water tank on its place as shown in the figure after adding water and have it seated by rotating it in the direction of the arrow. Water will be poured down to the icebank.

4. When ice has formed, rotate the icebank knob in the direction of the arrow to allow the ice to be dropped down to the ice drawer.

5. Take the ice cubes by pulling the ice drawer out.


How does the HarvestFresh feature work on my ALTUS ABM396?

Fruits and vegetables stored in crispers illuminated with the HarvestFresh technology preserve their vitamin content (vitamin A and C) for a longer time thanks to the blue, green, red lights and dark cycles, which simulate a day cycle.

If you open the door of the refrigerator during the dark period of the HarvestFresh technology, the refrigerator will automatically detect this and enable the blue, green, or red light to illuminate the crisper for your convenience. After you have closed the door of the refrigerator, the dark period will continue, representing the nighttime in a day cycle.


How do I clean the odour filter on my ALTUS ABM396?

The odour filter prevents unpleasant odour build-up. To clean it:

1. Pull the cover into which the odour filter is installed downwards from the front section and remove it as illustrated.

2. Leave the filter under sunlight for one day. The filter will be cleaned during this time.

3. Install the filter back into its place.

The odour filter must be cleaned once a year.


How do I use and fill the water dispenser on my ALTUS ABM396?

Using the dispenser:

1. Push in the lever of the water dispenser with your glass. If you are using a soft plastic cup, pushing the lever with your hand will be easier.

2. After filling the cup up to the level you want, release the lever.

Note: It is normal for the first few glasses of water to be warm. If the dispenser isn’t used for a long time, dispose of the first few glasses of water to obtain fresh water.

Filling the tank:

The water tank filling reservoir is located inside the door rack.

1. Open the cover of the tank.

2. Fill the tank with fresh drinking water.

3. Close the cover.

Important: Do not fill the water tank with any liquid other than water, such as fruit juices, carbonated beverages, or alcoholic drinks. The capacity of the water tank is 3 litres; do not overfill.


How do I clean the water tank on my ALTUS ABM396?

1. Remove the water filling reservoir inside the door rack.

2. Remove the door rack by holding it from both sides.

3. Grab the water tank from both sides and remove it with an angle of 45°C.

4. Remove the cover of the water tank and clean the tank.

Note: Components of the water tank and water dispenser should not be washed in a dishwasher.

How do I maintain and clean my ALTUS ABM396 refrigerator?

• Never use gasoline, benzene or similar substances for cleaning purposes.

• We recommend that you unplug the appliance before cleaning.

• Never use any sharp abrasive instrument, soap, household cleaner, detergent & wax polish for cleaning.

• Use lukewarm water to clean the cabinet of your refrigerator and wipe it dry.

• Use a damp cloth wrung out in a solution of one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to one pint of water to clean the interior and wipe it dry.
