Type of Lead Additional Information

Remote turn on lead Ground lead Battery power lead Connect the remote cable coming from the radio. In case your radio does not provide a remote signal, the SWD-2030 will generate it from the radio outputs and switch on and off together with the radio. A remote cable may also be connected when using High-Power radio outputs, but in general this is not necessary. Attach securely and safely to a bare metal spot of the car’s chassis. Connect directly to the positive terminal of the car’s battery.

Memo • This product cannot be used with cars fitted with a common negative speaker system. • Speaker impedance must be 3.2 ~ 8 ohms. • To prevent external noise from entering the audio system: • Locate the unit and route the leads at least 10 cm away from the car harness. • Keep the battery power leads as far away from other leads as possible. • Connect the ground lead securely and safely to a bare metal spot (remove the coating if necessary) of the car chassis. • If you add an optional noise suppressor, connect it as far away from the unit as possible. Your Alpine Dealer carries various Alpine noise suppressors, contact them for further information. • Your Alpine Dealer knows best about noise prevention measures so consult your dealer for further information. 8 3. CHECK 1 Secure all loose cables. CAUTION - ARRANGE THE WIRING SO IT IS NOT CRIMPED OR PINCHED BY A SHARP METAL EDGE. Route the cables and wiring away from moving parts (like the seat EN rails) or sharp or pointed edges. This will prevent crimping and damage to the wiring. If wiring passes through a hole in metal, use a rubber grommet to prevent the wires insulation from being cut by the metal edge of the hole. 2 Reconnect the negative lead to the battery terminal 3 By switching on the head unit, verify that the subwoofer is working. 4 Check that all electrical functions of the car are operational. (lights, indicators, horn etc.) 4. ADJUSTMENT 1. Input mode selector (line or high-level) 2. Indicator for auto-remote by radio outputs 3. Volume level adjustment 4. Remote signal indicator 5. Adjustment lowpass filter 6. Indicator Low Battery 7. Phase shift adjust

CAUTION DO NOT EXCEED THE INPUT LEVEL SPECIFIED FOR THIS PRODUCT. If there is distortion or a popping noise from the subwoofer the input level is too high. If the subwoofer has prolonged use in this condition, this may result in deterioration of performance or may cause damage to the subwoofer. 9

4. ADJUSTMENT 1. Before powering-up the system, please adjust as follows: Depending on what input signal you use (Line or speaker input) : Level to Min, LPF to middle position (75Hz) and Phase Shift to 0°. 2. Set the radio bass and treble adjust to "0" or "neutral". Adjust the radio volume to an average level. Use music that you are familiar with. This is helpful to find the optimal adjustments. EN 3. Now slowly turn up the input sensitivity until the sound quality seems balanced. Do not adjust the input sensitivity too high, as distortion may occur. Too high radio volume will also cause significant distortion. Make sure that the sound of the other speakers is undistorted before you continue. Reduce the radio volume when you hear audible distortion. 4. After the input sensitivity has been adjusted, set your lowpass filter according to the highpass filters of the other speakers. We recommend 75Hz, which is center position. 5. Adjusting the lowpass filter changes the sound of the subwoofer. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the optimum is found. 6. Last adjustment is the phase shift. Turn the control very slowly between 0° and 180° while listening to music in the usual listening position. Listen to the sound and keep the adjustment position that sounds best and most balanced in its spectrum. The optimal adjustment depends on many acoustical factors and shape of the vehicle, as well as the distance of the subwoofer to the listening position.
