Any function that requires your prolonged attention should only be performed after coming to a complete stop. Always stop the vehicle in a safe location before performing these functions.

KEEP THE VOLUME AT A LEVEL WHERE YOU CAN STILL HEAR OUTSIDE NOISES WHILE DRIVING.

Excessive volume levels that obscure sounds such as emergency vehicle sirens or road warning signals can be dangerous. Listening at loud volume levels in a car may also cause hearing damage.

DO NOT DISASSEMBLE OR ALTER.

Doing so may result in an accident, fire or electric shock.

USE ONLY IN CARS WITH A 12 VOLT NEGATIVE GROUND.

Failure to do so may result in fire, etc.

KEEP SMALL OBJECTS SUCH AS BATTERIES OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.

Swallowing them may result in serious injury. If swallowed, consult a physician immediately.

USE THE CORRECT AMPERE RATING WHEN REPLACING FUSES.

Failure to do so may result in fire or electric shock.

DO NOT BLOCK VENTS OR RADIATOR PANELS.

Doing so may cause heat to build up inside and may result in fire.

USE THIS PRODUCT FOR MOBILE 12V APPLICATIONS.

Use for other than its designed application may result in fire, electric shock or other injury.

DO NOT PLACE HANDS, FINGERS OR FOREIGN OBJECTS IN INSERTION SLOTS OR GAPS.

Doing so may result in personal injury or damage to the product.

HALT USE IMMEDIATELY IF A PROBLEM APPEARS.

Failure to do so may cause personal injury or damage to the product. Return it to your authorized Alpine dealer or the nearest Alpine Service Centre for repairing.

Product Cleaning

Use a soft dry cloth for periodic cleaning of the product. For more severe stains, please dampen the cloth with water only. Anything else has the chance of dissolving the paint or damaging the plastic.

Temperature

Be sure the temperature inside the vehicle is between +60°C (+140°F) and -10°C (+14°F) before turning your unit on.

Moisture Condensation

You may notice the CD playback sound wavering due to condensation. If this happens, remove the disc from the player and wait about an hour for the moisture to evaporate.

Damaged Disc

Do not attempt to play cracked, warped, or damaged discs. Playing a bad disc could severely damage the playback mechanism.

Maintenance

If you have problems, do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Return it to your Alpine dealer or the nearest Alpine Service Station for servicing.

Inserting Discs

Your player accepts only one disc at a time for playback. Do not attempt to load more than one disc. Make sure the label side is facing up when you insert the disc. “ERROR” will be displayed on your player if you insert a disc incorrectly. If “ERROR” continues to be displayed even though the disc has been inserted correctly, push the RESET switch with a pointed object such as a ballpoint pen.

Detaching

1. Turn off the unit power.

2. Press (Release) at the lower left side until the front panel pops out.

3. Grasp the left side of the front panel and pull it out.

Attaching

1. Insert the right side of the front panel into the main unit. Align the groove on the front panel with the projections on the main unit.

2. Push the left side of the front panel until it locks firmly into the main unit.

To turn on the unit:

Press SOURCE/ to turn on the unit. The unit can also be turned on by pressing any other button except and (Release).

To turn off the unit:

Press and hold SOURCE/ for at least 2 seconds to turn off the unit.

Press SOURCE/ to change the source.

The source will cycle in the following order:

TUNER → DISC → USB AUDIO → iPod/AUX+ → BT AUDIO → AUX → TUNER

Turn the Rotary encoder until the desired sound is obtained.

1. Press SOURCE/ to select TUNER mode.

2. Press BAND/TA repeatedly until the desired radio band is displayed (F1, F2, F3, MW, LW).

3. Press TUNE/A.ME to select the tuning mode:

– DX SEEK (Distance mode): Both strong and weak stations will be automatically tuned in.

– SEEK (Local mode): Only strong stations will be automatically tuned in.

– OFF (Manual mode): The frequency is manually tuned in steps.

4. Press ◀◀ or ►► to tune in the desired station. Holding down ◀◀ or ►► will change the frequency continuously.

While receiving the station that you want to store, press and hold, for at least 2 seconds, any one of the preset buttons (1 through 6) into which you wish to store the station.

The display shows the band, preset number and station frequency memorised. A total of 30 stations can be stored (6 stations for each band; FM1, FM2, FM3, MW and LW).

1. Press BAND/TA repeatedly until the desired radio band is displayed.

2. Press and hold TUNE/A.ME for at least 2 seconds. The tuner will automatically seek and store 6 strong stations in the selected band. They will be stored into preset buttons 1 to 6 in order of signal strength. When completed, the tuner goes to the station stored in preset location No.1.

The RDS allows you to receive information like traffic updates and station names, and automatically re-tune to a stronger signal for the same programme.

Setting RDS Reception Mode:

1. Press FUNC./SETUP so that the F indicator lights up.

2. Press 1/AF to activate the RDS mode.

3. Press ◀◀ or ►► to tune in the desired RDS station.

4. Press 1/AF again to deactivate the RDS mode.

5. Press FUNC./SETUP to exit the setting mode.

Receiving Traffic Information:

1. Press and hold BAND/TA for at least 2 seconds so that the “TA” indicator lights up.

2. Press ◀◀ or ►► to select your desired traffic information station. When a traffic information broadcast begins, the unit automatically receives it.

3. To deactivate, press and hold BAND/TA for at least 2 seconds.

Displaying Radio Text:

Press VIEW while receiving an FM radio station to select the Radio Text display. The display will change between Programme Service Name and Radio Text.

1. Insert a disc with the label side facing up. The disc will be pulled into the unit automatically.

2. To select the desired track (file), press ◀◀ or ►►. Pressing and holding will fast backward/fast forward the track.

3. For MP3/WMA/AAC discs, press 1/AF or 2 to select the desired folder.

4. To pause playback, press /II/ENT. Pressing it again will resume playback.

5. To eject the disc, press the eject button.

Repeat Play:

Press 4 repeatedly to cycle through the repeat options:

– Repeat Track: The current song is played back repeatedly.

– Repeat Folder (MP3/WMA/AAC only): Only files in the current folder are played back repeatedly.

– Off: Repeat play is cancelled.

M.I.X. (Random Play):

Press 5 repeatedly to cycle through the M.I.X. options:

– M.I.X. Folder (MP3/WMA/AAC only): Only files in the current folder are played back in random sequence.

– M.I.X. Disc: All tracks/files on the disc are played back in random sequence.

– Off: M.I.X. play is cancelled.

CD Text Search:

1. During CD Text playback, press Q/ESC. The “Q” indicator lights up.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired track by its title, then press /II/ENT to play it.

Folder/File Name Search (MP3/WMA/AAC):

1. During playback, press Q/ESC to activate search mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select either “Folder Name Search” or “File Name Search” mode, then press /II/ENT.

3. In Folder Name Search, turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired folder. Press and hold /II/ENT for at least 2 seconds to play the first file in that folder.

4. In File Name Search, turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired file, then press /II/ENT to play it.

Quick Search:

1. Press and hold Q/ESC for at least 2 seconds in CD/MP3/WMA/AAC mode to activate Quick Search mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select a desired track (file). The selected track is played back immediately.

You can adjust various sound settings to customize your listening experience.

Quick Adjustments (Subwoofer, Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader):

1. Press the Rotary encoder (AUDIO) repeatedly to choose the desired mode (SUBWOOFER, BASS LEVEL, TRE LEVEL, BALANCE, FADER, DEFEAT, VOLUME).

2. Turn the Rotary encoder until the desired sound is obtained in each mode.

Detailed Sound Settings (Bass/Treble/High Pass Filter):

1. Press /SOUND to select the desired Sound Setting mode (BASS → TREBLE → HPF).

2. For BASS control, press BAND/TA to select the center frequency and SOURCE/ to select the bandwidth. Turn the Rotary encoder to set the bass level.

3. For TREBLE control, press BAND/TA to select the center frequency. Turn the Rotary encoder to set the treble level.

4. For HIGH PASS FILTER (HPF), turn the Rotary encoder to select the frequency (OFF, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz).

5. Press and hold Q/ESC for at least 2 seconds to return to normal mode.

Loudness:

Press and hold the Rotary encoder (LOUD) for at least 2 seconds to activate or deactivate the loudness mode. This compensates for the ear’s decreased sensitivity to bass and treble sound at low volumes.

1. Press and hold FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds to activate the SETUP mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired SETUP menu item (e.g., SUBWOOFER, LANGUAGE, DEMO, etc.).

3. Press /II/ENT to enter the selected menu.

4. Turn the Rotary encoder to change the setting (e.g., select SUBW ON or SUBW OFF).

5. Press and hold FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds to return to normal mode. The menu will also exit automatically if no operation is performed for 60 seconds.

Before using a hands-free phone, it must be paired with the unit.

1. From your Bluetooth compatible device, initiate a search for Bluetooth devices.

2. Select the ALPINE CDE-114BTI from the list of found devices.

3. The PIN code (“0000”) will be displayed on the unit.

4. Input the PIN code (“0000”) into your Bluetooth compatible device.

5. If the connection is successful, “CONNECTED” is displayed, and the unit returns to normal mode.

Note: For the unit to be discoverable, ensure “VISIBLE M” is set to “VISI M ON” in the Bluetooth setup menu.

Answering a Call:

When a call comes in, press to answer. The call starts.

Hanging up a Call:

Press and hold for at least 2 seconds to finish the call.

Making a Call:

1. Press . The outgoing method list is displayed.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the outgoing mode (DIALED, RECEIVED, MISSED, PHONE BOOK).

3. Press /II/ENT. The corresponding list is displayed.

4. Turn the Rotary encoder to select a name or telephone number from the list.

5. Press /II/ENT to make the call.

Voice Dial Operation:

1. Press and hold /VOICE DIAL for at least 2 seconds. “SPEAK” is displayed.

2. Say the telephone number or name you want to call into the microphone. (This requires a compatible mobile phone).

1. Open the cover of the USB Connection Terminal.

2. Connect the USB Memory device directly to the terminal or via a USB cable.

3. Press SOURCE/ to switch to the USB AUDIO mode.

4. Playback controls (play, pause, track/folder selection, repeat, M.I.X.) are the same as for playing MP3/WMA/AAC files from a disc.

To remove the USB device:

1. Change to a source other than USB Memory mode.

2. Carefully pull out the USB Memory device.

3. Close the cover of the USB Connection Terminal.

An iPhone/iPod can be connected using the proprietary ALPINE FULL SPEED Connection Cable.

1. Connect your iPhone/iPod to the unit using the appropriate cable.

2. Press SOURCE/ to switch to the iPod mode.

3. Press ◀◀ or ►► to select the desired song. Pressing and holding will fast backward/fast forward.

4. To pause playback, press /II/ENT. Pressing it again will resume playback.

Each music category has its own individual search hierarchy.

1. Press Q/ESC to activate the search selection mode. The “Q” indicator lights up.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the search mode (e.g., PLAYLIST, ARTIST, ALBUM, SONG, etc.), and then press /II/ENT.

3. Depending on the chosen mode, you can navigate through the hierarchy. For example, in ARTIST search:

– Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired Artist, and then press /II/ENT.

– Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired Album, and then press /II/ENT.

– Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired Song, and then press /II/ENT.

Direct Search Function:

In a search mode, you can press any of the preset buttons (1 through 6) to quickly skip to a designated percentage of your song content (0%, 17%, 33%, 50%, 67%, 83%).

If you encounter a problem, first turn the power off, then on again. If the issue persists, check the following:

• Vehicle’s ignition is off: If connected correctly, the unit will not operate with the ignition off.

• Improper power connections: Check the power lead (Red) and battery lead (Yellow) connections.

• Blown fuse: Check the fuse of the unit and replace it with the proper value if necessary.

• Internal micro-computer malfunction: Press the RESET switch with a ballpoint pen or other pointed object.

• No antenna or open connection: Make sure the antenna is properly connected; replace the antenna or cable if necessary.

• Weak signal area (for seek mode): Make sure the tuner is in the DX mode. If you are in a primary signal area, check that the antenna is properly grounded and connected.

• Improper antenna length: Make sure the antenna is fully extended; if broken, replace it.

• Broadcast is noisy: Ensure the antenna is fully extended and properly grounded at its mounting location.

• CD Player not functioning: The vehicle’s interior temperature may be out of the operating range (+50°C to 0°C). Allow the temperature to cool.

• Playback sound is wavering: This may be due to moisture condensation in the CD Module. Allow about 1 hour for it to evaporate.

• CD insertion not possible: A CD is already in the player. Eject the CD and remove it. Or, the CD is being inserted improperly.

• Sound skips due to vibration: The unit may be improperly mounted, the disc may be dirty or scratched. Securely re-mount the unit or clean/change the disc.

• CD-R/CD-RW playback not possible: The recording session (finalisation) may not have been performed. Finalise the disc and attempt playback again.

CD/Disc Errors:

• NO DISC: No CD is inserted, or the inserted disc cannot be read. Insert a CD. If it persists, try pressing the eject button for at least 2 seconds. If it still doesn’t eject, consult your dealer.

• ERROR: Mechanism error. Press the eject button. If the error remains, consult your dealer. If the disc can’t be ejected, press the RESET switch and try ejecting again.

• PROTECT: A copy-protected WMA file was played. You can only play non-copy-protected files.

• UNSUPORTED: A sampling rate/bit rate not supported by the unit is used.

USB Memory Errors:

• ERROR: Abnormal current is run to the USB device, or the USB memory has malfunctioned or is shorted. Connect another USB Memory.

• UNIT ERROR: A USB device that is not supported by the unit is connected.

• NO DEVICE: A USB Memory is not connected. Check the connection.

• NO FILE: No song (file) is stored in the USB Memory.

iPod Errors:

• NO IPOD: The iPhone/iPod is not connected. Check the connection.

• NO SONG: There are no songs in the iPhone/iPod.

• ERROR-01: Communication error. Turn the ignition off and on again. Reset the iPod and reconnect.

• ERROR-02: The iPhone/iPod Software Version is not compatible. Update the software.

• ERROR-03: The iPhone/iPod is not verified. Reset the iPod.

• ERROR-04: Power surge error. Excessive voltage/current supplied to the iPhone/iPod. Try another device if available.

Bluetooth Error:

• NO UNIT: The BLUETOOTH device is not connected. Connect the device.

General Error:

• DC ERROR: Malfunction occurred due to a speaker cable shorting on the car chassis. Route the cable correctly and set “POWER IC” to “POW ON”. If the problem persists, consult your dealer.
