Failure to heed the following instructions can result in serious injury or death.

DO NOT OPERATE ANY FUNCTION THAT TAKES YOUR ATTENTION AWAY FROM SAFELY DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE. Any function that requires your prolonged attention should only be performed after coming to a complete stop. Always stop the vehicle in a safe location before performing these functions.

KEEP THE VOLUME AT A LEVEL WHERE YOU CAN STILL HEAR OUTSIDE NOISES WHILE DRIVING. Excessive volume levels that obscure sounds such as emergency vehicle sirens or road warning signals can be dangerous. Listening at loud volume levels in a car may also cause hearing damage.

DO NOT DISASSEMBLE OR ALTER. Doing so may result in an accident, fire or electric shock.

USE ONLY IN CARS WITH A 12 VOLT NEGATIVE GROUND. Failure to do so may result in fire, etc.

KEEP SMALL OBJECTS SUCH AS BATTERIES OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. Swallowing them may result in serious injury. If swallowed, consult a physician immediately.

USE THE CORRECT AMPERE RATING WHEN REPLACING FUSES. Failure to do so may result in fire or electric shock.

DO NOT BLOCK VENTS OR RADIATOR PANELS. Doing so may cause heat to build up inside and may result in fire.

USE THIS PRODUCT FOR MOBILE 12V APPLICATIONS. Use for other than its designed application may result in fire, electric shock or other injury.

DO NOT PLACE HANDS, FINGERS OR FOREIGN OBJECTS IN INSERTION SLOTS OR GAPS. Doing so may result in personal injury or damage to the product.

To prevent injury or material property damage, please follow these precautions:

HALT USE IMMEDIATELY IF A PROBLEM APPEARS. Failure to do so may cause personal injury or damage to the product. Return it to your authorized Alpine dealer for repairing.

Product Cleaning: Use a soft dry cloth for periodic cleaning. For more severe stains, dampen the cloth with water only. Anything else may dissolve the paint or damage the plastic.

Temperature: Be sure the temperature inside the vehicle is between +60°C (+140°F) and -10°C (+14°F) before turning your unit on.

Moisture Condensation: You may notice CD playback sound wavering due to condensation. If this happens, remove the disc and wait about an hour for the moisture to evaporate.

Damaged Disc: Do not attempt to play cracked, warped, or damaged discs, as this could severely damage the playback mechanism.

Maintenance: If you have problems, do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Return it to your Alpine dealer for servicing.

Never Attempt the Following: Do not grip or pull out the disc while it is being reloaded. Do not attempt to insert a disc when the unit power is off.

Inserting Discs: Your player accepts only one disc at a time. Insert the disc with the label side facing up. An “ERROR” will be displayed if a disc is inserted incorrectly. If the error persists, press the RESET switch.

When a new disc is ejected immediately after initial loading, “ERROR” may be displayed. This can be caused by small bumps or irregularities on the edges of the disc.

1. Use your finger to feel around the inside of the centre hole and outside edge of the disc.

2. If you feel any small bumps, rub the inside edge of the hole and outside edge of the disc with a ballpoint pen or other such instrument to remove them.

3. Insert the disc again.

Be sure to use round shape discs only for this unit and never use any special shape discs, as this may cause damage to the mechanism.

The ALPINE CDE-112RI can play the following disc and file formats:

Use only compact discs with the official CD logo marks. You can play CD-Rs (CD-Recordables) and CD-RWs (CD-ReWritables).

Detaching the Front Panel

1. Turn off the unit power.

2. Press the (Release) button at the lower left side until the front panel pops out.

3. Grasp the left side of the front panel and pull it out.

Attaching the Front Panel

1. Insert the right side of the front panel into the main unit. Align the groove on the front panel with the projections on the main unit.

2. Push the left side of the front panel until it locks firmly into the main unit.

Notes:

Before attaching, ensure there is no dirt or dust on the connector terminals.

Attach the panel carefully, holding the sides to avoid pushing buttons by mistake.

You should press the RESET switch when using the unit for the first time or after changing the car battery.

1. Turn off the unit power.

2. Remove the detachable front panel.

3. Press the RESET switch (a small recessed button) with a ballpoint pen or similar pointed object.

Turning Power On and Off

To turn the unit on, press the SOURCE/ button. The unit can also be turned on by pressing any other button except the release button.

To turn the unit off, press and hold the SOURCE/ button for at least 2 seconds.

Source Selection

Press the SOURCE/ button to change the source. The cycle is as follows:

TUNER → DISC → USB AUDIO → iPod/AUX+ → BT AUDIO → AUX → TUNER

1. Press FUNC./SETUP so that the F indicator lights up.

2. Press 6/DIMMER repeatedly to select the desired dimmer mode.

The sequence is: DIMMER-A → DIMMER ON → DIMMER OFF → DIMMER-A

DIMMER-A (Auto mode): Decreases the illumination brightness of the unit when the vehicle’s headlights are turned on.

DIMMER ON mode: Keeps the illumination brightness of the unit dark.

DIMMER OFF mode: Keeps the illumination brightness of the unit bright.

3. Press FUNC./SETUP to activate the normal mode. The F indicator will go out.

Note: This function is inoperable when the ILLUMINATI is set to a type other than TYPE1.

Listening to the Radio

1. Press SOURCE/ to select TUNER mode.

2. Press BAND/TA repeatedly until the desired radio band is displayed (F1, F2, F3, MW, LW).

3. Press TUNE/A.ME to select the tuning mode:

DX SEEK (Distance mode): Automatically tunes in both strong and weak stations.

SEEK (Local mode): Automatically tunes in only strong stations.

OFF (Manual mode): Allows you to tune the frequency in steps manually.

4. Press ◄◄ or ►►I to tune in the desired station. Holding down the button will change the frequency continuously.

Presetting Stations Manually

While receiving the station you want to store, press and hold one of the preset buttons (1 through 6) for at least 2 seconds. The display will show the band, preset number, and station frequency to confirm it has been memorized.

Presetting Stations Automatically

1. Select the desired radio band.

2. Press and hold TUNE/A.ME for at least 2 seconds. The tuner will automatically seek and store 6 strong stations in the selected band.

Setting RDS Reception Mode

1. Press FUNC./SETUP so that the F indicator lights up.

2. Press 1◄/AF to activate the RDS mode.

3. Press ◄◄ or ►►I to tune in the desired RDS station.

4. Press 1◄/AF again to deactivate the RDS mode.

5. Press FUNC./SETUP to return to normal mode.

Receiving Traffic Information

1. Press and hold BAND/TA for at least 2 seconds so that the “TA” indicator lights up.

2. The unit will now receive traffic broadcasts. If the source is CD, it will be muted, and the traffic information will be played. When the broadcast ends, the original source will resume.

Displaying Radio Text

While receiving an FM station in radio mode, press VIEW to select the Radio Text display. The display will cycle through Programme Service Name (PS) and RADIO TEXT.

1. Insert a disc with the label side facing up. The disc will be pulled into the unit automatically. If a disc is already inserted, press SOURCE/ to switch to the DISC mode.

2. For MP3/WMA/AAC files, press 1◄/AF or 2► to select the desired folder.

3. Press ◄◄ or ►►I to select the desired track (file). Pressing and holding will fast backward/fast forward.

4. To pause playback, press ►/II/ENT. Pressing it again will resume playback.

5. To eject the disc, press the Eject button.

Repeat Play

Press the 4 button. The mode cycles as follows:

Repeat Track → Repeat Folder (MP3/WMA/AAC only) → Repeat Off

M.I.X. (Random Play)

Press the 5 button. The mode cycles as follows:

M.I.X. Folder (MP3/WMA/AAC only) → M.I.X. All → M.I.X. Off

Searching for CD Text

1. Press Q/ESC during playback. The “Q” indicator lights up.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired track, and then press ►/II/ENT to play it.

Folder/File Name Search (for MP3/WMA/AAC)

1. During playback, press Q/ESC to activate search mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select either Folder Name Search or File Name Search, then press ►/II/ENT.

3. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired folder or file.

4. To play the first file in a selected folder, press and hold ►/II/ENT for 2 seconds. To play a selected file, press ►/II/ENT.

Quick Search

Press and hold Q/ESC for at least 2 seconds in CD/MP3/WMA/AAC mode. The “Q” indicator lights up. Turn the Rotary encoder to select a desired track/file, and it will begin playing immediately.

Main Sound Adjustments

1. Press the Rotary encoder (AUDIO) repeatedly to choose the desired mode.

The mode changes as follows: SUBWOOFER → BASS LEVEL → TRE LEVEL → BALANCE → FADER → DEFEAT → VOLUME → SUBWOOFER.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to adjust the setting for the selected mode.

Advanced Bass/Treble/High Pass Filter Settings

1. Press /SOUND to select the desired Sound Setting mode (BASS → TREBLE → HPF).

2. For BASS, you can adjust Centre Frequency (60/80/100/200 Hz), Bandwidth (1-4), and Level (-7 to +7).

3. For TREBLE, you can adjust Centre Frequency (10.0/12.5/15.0/17.5 kHz) and Level (-7 to +7).

4. For HPF (High Pass Filter), you can select OFF, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, or 100 Hz.

5. Press and hold Q/ESC for at least 2 seconds to return to normal mode.

Loudness

Press and hold the Rotary encoder (LOUD) for at least 2 seconds to activate or deactivate the loudness mode.

1. Press and hold FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds to activate the SETUP mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired SETUP menu item.

3. Press ►/II/ENT to enter the selected menu.

4. Turn the Rotary encoder to change the setting.

5. Press and hold FUNC./SETUP for at least 2 seconds to return to normal mode.

Available settings include: BT IN (Bluetooth adapter), PLAY MODE, INT MUTE, AUX+ SETUP, AUX NAME, POWER IC, DEMO, SUBWOOFER, SUBW SYS, ILLUMINATI, SCROLLTYPE, TEXT SCR, FM-LEVEL, REGIONAL, PI SEEK, LANGUAGE.

Access the SETUP menu to change these settings.

Subwoofer On and Off: Set SUBWOOFER to SUBW ON or SUBW OFF.

Subwoofer System: Set SUBW SYS to SYS 1 (level changes with main volume) or SYS 2 (level is independent of main volume, audible at low levels).

Changing Lighting Colour: Set ILLUMINATI to TYPE1 (Blue/Red), TYPE2 (Green/Green), TYPE3 (Amber/Red), or TYPE4 (Red/Red).

Scroll Type Setting: Set SCROLLTYPE to SCR TYPE1 (scrolls right to left) or SCR TYPE2 (words build up from left to right).

Scroll Setting (TEXT SCR): Set TEXT SCR to SCR AUTO (text scrolls automatically) or SCR MANU (scrolls only when a track changes or disc loads).

You can configure these options in the SETUP menu.

Connecting to an External Amplifier (POWER IC)

To improve sound quality when using an external amplifier, you can stop the power supply of the built-in amplifier.

1. Enter the SETUP menu.

2. Select POWER IC.

3. Choose POW OFF. In this mode, the head unit’s internal amplifier is turned OFF. Choose POW ON to use the built-in amplifier.

Setting the BLUETOOTH Connection (BT IN)

If you connect an optional BLUETOOTH INTERFACE (KCE-400BT), you must configure this setting.

1. Enter the SETUP menu.

2. Select BT IN.

3. Choose BT ADAPTER. Choose BT OFF when the interface is not connected.

Connecting an iPhone/iPod

Connect your iPhone/iPod using the proprietary ALPINE FULL SPEED Connection Cable (sold separately). When connected, controls on the iPod itself are not functional. In the SETUP menu, ensure “AUX+ SETUP” is set to OFF.

Playback

1. Press SOURCE/ to switch to the iPod mode.

2. Press ◄◄ or ►►I to select the desired song. Pressing and holding will fast backward/forward the current track.

3. To pause playback, press ►/II/ENT. Pressing again will resume.

Searching for a Song

1. Press Q/ESC to activate the search selection mode.

2. Turn the Rotary encoder to select the search mode (Playlist, Artist, Album, etc.) and press ►/II/ENT.

3. Continue turning the Rotary encoder and pressing ►/II/ENT to navigate through the hierarchy (e.g., Artist -> Album -> Song).

4. To play all songs in a selected category (e.g., an entire album), press and hold ►/II/ENT for at least 2 seconds.

If there is no function or display, check the following:

Vehicle’s ignition is off: The unit will not operate with the ignition off if connected properly.

Improper power connections: Check the power lead (Red) and battery lead (Yellow) connections.

Blown fuse: Check the fuse of the unit and replace it with one of the proper value if necessary.

Internal micro-computer malfunction: Press the RESET switch with a ballpoint pen or other pointed object.

If you are experiencing issues with CD playback, consider the following causes and solutions:

CD Player not functioning: The unit may be outside its operating temperature range (+50°C to 0°C). Allow the vehicle’s interior to cool down or warm up.

CD playback sound is wavering: This may be due to moisture condensation in the CD Module. Allow about 1 hour for the condensation to evaporate.

CD insertion not possible: A CD may already be in the player. Eject the CD first. The CD may also be inserted improperly; ensure it is inserted according to instructions.

CD playback sound skips due to vibration: The unit may be improperly mounted. Securely re-mount the unit. The disc may also be dirty or scratched; clean or change the disc.

CD-R/CD-RW playback not possible: The recording session may not have been closed (finalised). Finalise the disc and attempt playback again.

NO IPOD: The iPhone/iPod is not connected. Make sure it is connected correctly and the cable is not bent excessively.

NO SONG: There are no songs in the iPhone/iPod. Download songs to the device.

ERROR-01: Communication error. Turn the ignition key off, then on again. Reset the iPod. Check the connection.

ERROR-02: The iPhone/iPod Software Version is not compatible. Update the software on your device.

ERROR-03: The iPhone/iPod is not verified. Reset the iPod. Try another iPhone/iPod if available.

ERROR-04: Power surge error. Excessive voltage/current is being supplied to the iPhone/iPod. Try another iPhone/iPod if available.

ERROR: Abnormal current is being run to the USB device, or the device has malfunctioned or is shorted. Connect another USB Memory.

UNIT ERROR: A USB device that is not supported by the unit is connected. Connect a supported USB device.

NO DEVICE: A USB Memory is not connected. Ensure the device is connected correctly and the cable is not bent.

NO FILE: No song (file) is stored in the USB Memory. Store songs on the device and reconnect.

UNSUPORTED: A sampling rate or bit rate not supported by the unit is being used. Use a supported sampling rate/bit rate.

PROTECT: A copy-protected WMA file was played back. You can only play back non-copy-protected files.
