Menu key:

• On the Home screen, press to quickly access Settings, the Notification panel, launch a quick search, manage applications, or customize your Home screen.

• On other screens, press to view the options list.

Home key:

• Press to return to the Home screen.

• Press and hold to enter the recently used applications list.

Search key:

• Opens the Search bar for searching within an application, the phone, or the web.

Back key:

• Go back to the previous menu or screen.

Power key:

• Press to lock or light up the screen.

• Press and hold to power on the phone when it’s off.

• When the phone is on, press and hold to access Phone options: Silent mode, Airplane mode, Power off.

Volume key:

• Press to adjust the volume during a call or while media is playing.

Side key:

• Press and hold to take a picture in Camera mode (depending on your network operator).

Send key:

• Answer or send a call.

• Enter the Call log.

End key:

• End a call.

• Return to the Home screen.

Voice mail key:

• Press to access your voice mail.

Torch key:

• Press and hold to light up the torch.

1. Removing or installing the back cover:

Follow the diagrams in the quick start guide to unclip and remove the back cover or to clip it back into place.

2. Inserting or removing the SIM card:

• Power off your phone and remove the battery.

• Place the SIM card with the chip facing downwards and slide it into its housing. Ensure it is correctly inserted.

• To remove the card, press and slide it out.

3. Installing or removing the battery:

• Insert the battery and click it into place, then close the phone cover.

• To remove, unclip the cover first, then remove the battery.

4. Installing and removing the microSD card:

• Insert the microSD card with the golden contacts facing downwards into the slot until it is locked.

• To remove, gently push the memory card until it is unlocked and slide it out. Before removing, ensure the microSD card is unmounted via Settings to avoid data loss.

5. Charging the battery:

• Connect the battery charger to your phone and to a power outlet.

6. Powering on and initial setup:

• Hold down the Power key until the phone powers on.

• The first time you power on, you will be prompted to set up language, input method, mobile data connection, and account setup.

• You are required to sign into your Google account. If you don’t have one, you will be prompted to create one.

• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Touch: To access an application, touch it with your finger.

Touch and Hold: To see available options for an item, touch and hold the item. For example, touching and holding a contact will bring up an options list.

Drag: Place your finger on the screen to drag an object to another location.

Slide/Swipe: Slide the screen to scroll up, down, or sideways through applications, images, and web pages.

Flick: Similar to swiping, but flicking moves the screen content quicker.

Pinch/Spread: Place two fingers on the screen and draw them apart or together to zoom in or out on an element like a photo or web page.

Add: Touch and hold an empty area or press the Menu key and touch ‘Add’ on the Home screen. You can add shortcuts, widgets, or folders.

Reposition: Touch and hold an item to activate Move mode. Drag the item to the desired position and then release. To move it to another Home screen page, hold the icon on the left or right edge of the screen.

Remove: Touch and hold an item to activate Move mode. Drag the item to the trash can at the bottom right of the screen, which will turn red, and then release.

Wallpaper Customization: Touch and hold an empty area or press the Menu key and touch ‘Wallpapers’ to customize the wallpaper.

• Enter symbols/emotions: Press the ‘sym’ key to enter the symbol/emotion table (in Messaging only). Press and hold this key to select an input method.

• Enter next line: Press the Enter key.

• Delete characters: Press the Delete key to delete one character at a time. Press and hold to delete all characters.

• Capitalize a character: Press the Shift key once.

• Lock caps mode: Press the Shift key twice.

• Input a top-half character: Press the ‘Fn’ key once.

• Lock top-half key mode: Press the ‘Fn’ key twice.

• Enter a space: Press the Space bar.

• Confirm input: Press the Enter key.

• Switch language: Hold down the Shift key, then press the Space key.

Placing a call:

• Touch the phone icon from the Home screen and switch to the Phone tab.

• Or, press the desired number from the physical keyboard directly.

After entering the number, press the Send key to place the call. You can also make a call by selecting a contact from Contacts, Call log, or Favorites.

Answering a call:

When you receive a call, press the Send key to answer.

Ending a call:

To hang up a call, press the End key.

Accessing call history:

You can access your call memory by touching the phone icon from the Home screen and then touching the Call log tab to view missed, outgoing, and incoming calls.

Adding a contact:

1. Touch the Contacts icon on the Home screen.

2. Press the Menu key from the contacts list screen.

3. Touch ‘New contact’ and enter the contact’s information.

Importing, exporting, and sharing contacts:

1. From the Contacts screen, press the Menu key.

2. Touch ‘More’ then ‘Import/Export’.

3. You can exchange contacts between the Phone and microSD card, or between the Phone and SIM card.

4. To share a contact, touch the contact you want to share, press the Menu key, and touch ‘Share’. Select the application to perform the action (e.g., Bluetooth, SMS, Email).

Synchronizing contacts:

Contacts, data, and other information can be synchronized from multiple accounts (like your Google account), depending on the applications installed on your phone.

Sending a text message (SMS):

1. From the Home screen, access Messaging and touch ‘Compose new message’.

2. Enter the mobile number of the recipient in the ‘To’ bar or touch the add recipient icon.

3. Touch the ‘Type to compose’ bar to enter the text of the message.

4. When finished, touch ‘Send’.

An SMS of more than 160 characters will be charged as several SMS.

Sending a multimedia message (MMS):

MMS allows you to send video clips, images, photos, and sounds. An SMS is automatically converted to an MMS when you attach media files or add a subject or email address.

Setting up an email account:

1. From the Home screen, access the ‘Email’ application.

2. An email wizard will guide you through the setup.

3. Enter the email address and password for the account.

4. Touch ‘Next’. If the account is not from a major provider, you may be prompted to enter settings manually.

5. Enter an account name and a display name for outgoing emails.

6. Touch ‘Done’.

Creating and sending emails:

1. From the Inbox screen, press the Menu key and touch ‘Compose’.

2. Enter the recipient’s email address in the ‘To’ field.

3. Enter the subject and content of the message.

4. To add an attachment, press the Menu key and touch ‘Add attachment’.

5. Touch ‘Send’. You can also save it as a draft.

Via GPRS/EDGE/3G:

The first time you turn on your phone with a SIM card inserted, it will automatically configure the network service. To check the network connection, press the Menu key on the Home screen, then go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Wireless & networks’ > ‘Mobile networks’ > ‘Access Point Names’.

Via Wi-Fi:

1. Press the Menu key from the Home screen.

2. Touch ‘Settings’ > ‘Wireless & networks’ > ‘Wi-Fi’.

3. Mark the checkbox to turn Wi-Fi on.

4. Touch ‘Wi-Fi settings’. Your phone will list the detected Wi-Fi networks.

5. Touch a Wi-Fi network to connect. If the network is secured, you will need to enter a password.

You can share your phone’s mobile data connection with a single computer via a USB cable (USB tethering) or with up to eight devices at once by turning your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

To turn on USB tethering or Portable Wi-Fi hotspot:

1. Press the Menu key from the Home screen.

2. Touch ‘Settings’ > ‘Wireless & networks’ > ‘Tethering & portable hotspot’.

3. Mark the checkbox for ‘USB tethering’ or ‘Portable Wi-Fi hotspot’ to activate the function.

Note that these functions may incur additional network charges from your operator.

A factory reset will erase all personal data from the internal phone storage, including your Google Account, system and application settings, and downloaded applications.

Reset via Settings menu:

1. Press the Menu key from the Home screen.

2. Touch ‘Settings’ > ‘Privacy’ > ‘Factory data reset’.

You can also mark the ‘Erase SD card’ checkbox to erase all data on your microSD card.

Reset via hardware keys (if you cannot power on the phone):

Hold down the Volume Down key and press the Power key at the same time until the screen lights up. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.

• Check the battery contacts, remove and reinstall your battery, then try to turn your phone on.

• Check the battery power level; charge for at least 20 minutes.

• If it still does not work, you may need to use the factory reset option to reset the phone.

• Check that your keypad is locked when you are not using your phone, and make sure the Power key is not being accidentally pressed.

• Check the battery charge level.

• Make sure you are using an original ALCATEL ONE TOUCH battery and the charger from the box.

• Make sure your battery is inserted properly. Clean the battery contact if it’s dirty. It must be inserted before plugging in the charger.

• If the battery is completely discharged, it may take around 20 minutes for the charger indicator to appear on the screen.

• Ensure charging is carried out under normal conditions (0°C to +40°C).

• When abroad, check that the voltage input is compatible.

• Try connecting in another location.

• Verify the network coverage with your operator.

• Check with your operator that your SIM card is valid.

• Try selecting the available network(s) manually.

• Try connecting at a later time if the network is overloaded.

• Make sure you have dialed a valid number and pressed the Send key.

• For international calls, check the country and area codes.

• Make sure your phone is connected to a network, and the network is not overloaded or unavailable.

• Check your subscription status with your operator (credit, SIM card validity, etc.).

• Make sure you have not barred outgoing calls.

• Make sure that your phone is not in flight mode.

• Make sure your phone is switched on and connected to a network.

• Check your subscription status with your operator.

• Make sure you have not forwarded incoming calls.

• Make sure that you have not barred certain calls.

• Make sure that your phone is not in flight mode.

• Check that you have subscribed to this service (Caller ID) with your operator.

• The person calling you may have concealed their name or number.

• Install the ALCATEL ONE TOUCH Android Manager first of all.

• Check that your USB driver is installed properly.

• Open the Notification panel on your phone to check if the Android Manager Agent has been activated.

• Check that you have enabled USB debugging in ‘Settings’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Development’ > ‘USB debugging’.

• Check that your computer meets the installation requirements for the Android Manager.

• Make sure that you’re using the correct cable that came with the phone.

• Make sure you follow the complete charge time (minimum 3 hours).

• After a partial charge, the battery level indicator may not be exact. Wait for at least 20 minutes after removing the charger to get an exact indication.

• Switch on the backlight only when needed.

• Extend the email auto-check interval for as long as possible.

• Update news and weather information on manual demand, or increase their auto-check interval.

• Exit background-running applications if they are not being used for a long time.

• Deactivate Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or GPS when not in use.

This heating is a normal consequence of the CPU handling excessive data. Ending these activities (prolonged calls, game playing, internet surfing, etc.) will allow your phone to return to its normal temperature.
