What does the KCW-M adaptor do?
The KCW-M adaptor converts a standard CCTV camera’s signal to a 2-wire signal, compatible with the KC 1×3 Color Video system. This allows the utilization of a color CCTV camera and a separate audio door station (JA-D) to be used in place of a KC-DAR video door station. The CCTV camera can also be connected to a standard CCTV system for continual viewing and/or recording. The unit is equipped with a relay output to trigger an external device, such as a DVR or video switcher whenever the audio and video to the Aiphone monitor is on.
How do I wire the KCW-M modulator?
Based on the wiring diagram for the KCW-M Modulator with a standard CCTV camera and Audio Only door station, follow these connections:
KCW-M to Master Station (KC-1MRD or KC-1GRD):
Connect KCW-M terminals MASTER A1, A2, 1, and 2 to the corresponding 1A1, 1A2, B1, and B2 terminals on the KC-1MRD or KC-1GRD master station.
Audio Door Station (JA-D) to KCW-M:
Connect terminals 1 and 2 from the JA-D audio door station to the AUDIO terminals 1 and 2 on the KCW-M.
CCTV Camera to KCW-M:
Connect the video output from an independently powered 75 Ohm, 1V Peak-to-peak CCTV camera to the VIDEO IN BNC connector on the KCW-M.
Optional Connections:
VIDEO OUT: For a constant video feed to an external CCTV monitor or DVR, connect the device to the VIDEO OUT BNC connector on the KCW-M.
RELAY: To trigger an external device (like a video switcher or DVR), connect it to the RELAY NO (Normally Open) terminals. This contact will close when the Aiphone monitor is active.
Power: The KC-1MRD or KC-1GRD master station requires a separate power supply (PS-2410A for KC-1MRD, PS-2420UL for KC-1GRD).
What are the important notes for wiring and setup?
1. The JA-D is the only compatible door station with this unit.
2. The Video Output is optional. If the VIDEO OUT port is not used, you must set the 75 ohm switch to the ON position.
3. When the VIDEO OUT port is connected to a device (like a monitor or DVR), you must set the 75 Ohm switch to the OFF position.
How do I activate the camera from a monitor?
1. The CCTV camera can be viewed on any of the KC monitors in the system by pressing the MONITOR button. When the video is activated, the audio door station will also be activated to transmit audio to the monitor station.
2. To initiate 2-way audio with the outdoor location, pick up the handset and speak. When the handset is hung up, audio and video will turn off.
3. To turn the monitor off, press the MONITOR button again. Otherwise, it will automatically time out after approximately 30 seconds.
How is the camera activated from the Audio Door Station?
1. When the call button is pressed on the JA-D door station, the monitor will turn on with the image from the CCTV camera, and the chime will sound. The monitor will stay on for approximately 30 seconds if not answered.
2. Pick up the handset to answer, and hang up to conclude. The conversation will automatically turn off in approximately 2-1/2 minutes if the handset is not hung up.
How do I interface the KCW-M with other systems like a DVR or external monitor?
1. The VIDEO OUT connection passes the composite video signal on to a standard CCTV system, such as a monitor, input on a switcher, or DVR. This video signal is live as long as the camera is powered. When using this feature, set the 75 OHM switch to the OFF position.
2. The RELAY connection provides a normally open contact closure that can be connected to an external system. This contact will be closed whenever the Aiphone system is turned on. This can be wired into a record input on a DVR or any other external device that needs to be notified when the video and audio is activated to the Aiphone monitor.
