What warning should be followed before attempting to install the time switch?
READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL TIME SWITCH. SEE WARNING ON FRONT PANEL – Failure to comply with instructions could result in personal injury and/or property damage.
Who should install the time switch?
The unit is to be installed by a licensed electrician.
What are the basic installation steps?
1. To remove the unit from the enclosure: Push the tab on the right to swing the unit the left and remove.
2. Mount the enclosure at eye level using screws or other suitable fastening device. Bring supply and load wires in through or side knockouts. DO NOT USE TOP.
3. Reinstall unit by reversing step #1 above and connecting wires to units as per suggested wiring diagrams. See illustration and warning on back page of the PDF.
What are the scheduling capabilities of the time switch?
7 Day scheduling.
ON and OFF set points: Total # – 20 per day / week
Minimum setting – 1 minute
Capable of different schedules each day of the week
What are the main features of the time switch?
Daylight Saving: Automatic (can be adjusted).
Leap Year: Automatic compensation.
Display: LCD
Manual Override: Until the next schedule ON or OFF. Automatic operation then resumes.
Power Outage: Permanent schedule retention. Super capacitor maintains real time up to 4 days.
What power source is needed for programming?
The unit should be programmed with AC power. Do not program under super cap back up power.
What does the MODE key do?
Press to go to the next mode.
What does the ENTER key do?
Stores or saves the current entry.
What does the OVR key do?
Press to change the load status in the AUTO (automatic) and the MAN (manual) mode.
What does the DEL/PREV key do?
a. Press to delete the displayed entry in the SCH (schedule) mode.
b. Decrement the last selected entry.
What does the HOUR/MONTH key do?
a. Press to set the hour in CLK (clock) mode and the SCH (schedule) mode.
b. Press to set the month in the DATE mode and DST (Daylight Savings Time) mode.
What does the MINUTE/DATE key do?
a. Press to set minutes in CLK (clock) mode and SCH (schedule) mode.
b. Press to set DATE in the date mode.
c. Press to select the week of the month in DST (Daylight Savings Time).
What does the SEC/DAY/YEAR key do?
a. Press to set the YEAR in the DATE mode.
b. Selects the desired day of the week in the DST (Daylight Savings Time) mode.
c. Press to select the desired day or days in the SCH (schedule) mode.
What does the EVENT key do?
a. Press to select ON/OFF in the schedule.
b. Press to update the load status In the AUTO (automatic) mode.
What should I do after making changes to the program?
After making any changes to the program, press MODE to go to RUN mode and then press EVENT to update the load status.
What happens when the unit is powered up for the first time?
When powering up the unit for the first time, allow 1-2 minutes to charge the supercap and the display will show E17 60 r – 0A, then 12:00 AM will flash on the display.
How do I set the clock for the first time?
1. After power up, press the MODE key to go to the CLK mode. The display will show “AM 12:00” flashing.
2. Press HOUR and MIN keys to advance to the present hour and minutes. Check AM/PM.
3. Press ENTER.
How do I modify the clock after it has been set?
1. Press MODE until the display shows: CLK.
2. Press HOUR and MIN keys to modify the clock.
3. Press ENTER.
How do I set the date for the first time?
1. After setting the clock, the display will automatically move to the DATE mode, showing “MO 01:01:07”.
2. Press MONTH, DATE, and YEAR keys to advance to the desired month, date and year.
3. Press ENTER.
NOTE: The day of the week will be automatically set once the date is set.
How do I modify the date after it has been set?
1. Press MODE until the display shows DATE.
2. Press MONTH, DATE and YEAR keys to modify present settings.
3. Press ENTER.
How do I set or disable Daylight Saving Time (DST)?
1. After setting or modifying the date, the display will show the DST setting screen (“d St S”).
2. If DST is NOT required, press MODE. The display will show “d St OFF”. Proceed to step 5.
3. If DST is required, press ENTER. The display will show the default start setting (e.g., “SU 03:02 S” for the second Sunday in March).
4. To accept the default DST start and end dates (second Sunday in March, first Sunday in November):
a. Press ENTER to accept the start date. The display will show the default end setting (e.g., “SU 11:01 E”).
b. Press ENTER to accept the end date. The display will show “d St ON”.
5. To modify the DST start or end settings:
a. When the start setting is displayed (“SU 03:02 S”), press MONTH, DATE, and DAY keys to modify the settings. Press ENTER.
NOTE: Day of week will be assigned to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or Last (L) Sunday of the month.
b. When the end setting is displayed (“SU 11:01 E”), press MONTH, DATE, and DAY keys to modify the settings. Press ENTER.
c. The display will show “d St ON”.
6. Press MODE to return to AUTO mode.
How do I modify or delete existing Daylight Saving Time (DST) settings?
1. Press MODE until the display shows the DST start setting (e.g., “SU 03:02 S”).
2. To modify the start settings, press MONTH, DATE and DAY keys. To delete (turn DST off), press DEL. Press ENTER.
3. If modifying, the display will show the DST end setting (e.g., “SU 11:01 E”). To modify the end settings, press MONTH, DATE and DAY keys. To delete, press DEL. Press ENTER.
4. Press MODE to return to AUTO mode.
NOTE: DST OFF indicates Daylight Savings Time was not set or has been deleted.
How do I enter the schedule setting mode?
Press MODE until display shows “–:– 01” and “SCH”.
How do I set a schedule event (ON or OFF time)?
1. Enter the schedule set mode (display shows “–:– 01” and “SCH”).
2. Press HOUR and MIN keys to set the desired time for the event.
3. Press EVENT key to set the desired event (ON or OFF).
4. Press DAY key to select the desired day or days for this event.
5. Press ENTER. The display will advance to the next schedule number (e.g., “–:– 02” and “SCH”).
6. Follow the same procedures above to set more schedule entries (up to 20 total).
How can I review, modify, or delete settings in different modes?
Press MODE to advance to the desired mode:
1. CLOCK MODE: Press HOUR and MIN to modify existing settings. Press ENTER.
2. DATE MODE: Press MONTH, DATE and YEAR to modify existing settings. Press ENTER. DAY is automatically adjusted.
3. DST Daylight Saving Time: To review, press ENTER. To modify, press MONTH, DAY and DATE to change existing settings. Press ENTER.
4. SCHEDULE MODE: Press HOUR, MIN and EVENT to modify time settings. Press DAY to modify days. Press DEL to delete the displayed entry. Press ENTER after each modification.
5. RUN MODE: The time, day, seconds, the load status and AUTO is displayed. No modifications are made here, but you can use OVR or EVENT keys.
How does the Manual Override (OVR) work?
OVR (Override) is effective in the AUTO mode and the MANUAL mode.
OVR on the AUTO mode is effective until the next scheduled event. Automatic operation then resumes.
OVR on the manual mode is effective indefinitely.
What does the EVENT key do in RUN mode?
The EVENT key (in the RUN mode) is used to update the load status. It will execute the last scheduled event. If there is no schedule programmed, the display will show — : —
What is MAN mode?
Under MAN (Manual) mode, the unit disregards the settings in the schedule mode and remains in its manually set status (ON or OFF using the OVR key).
NOTE: To resume regular schedule execution, press the MODE key to return to AUTO mode.
Will the unit stay in a programming mode indefinitely?
The unit will go to RUN MODE automatically (except on the MAN mode) if no key is pressed for five minutes.
How do I clear all memory, including time, date, and schedule?
1. While in the RUN mode, press ENTER. The display will show “CLr OFF AUTO” (or “CLr ON AUTO”).
2. Use the EVENT key to toggle between “CLr OFF AUTO” and “CLr ON AUTO”.
3. Now press ENTER briefly.
Everything in the timer memory will be erased, including real time and date. NOTE: Unit has permanent memory and will not be erased unless done through the procedure above.
What does the display show upon power-up regarding frequency?
Upon powering up, the display will show at what frequency the unit is operating; 50 will determine 50Hz or 60 for 60Hz (e.g., E17 60 r – 0A).
What does the display show if AC power is absent while in AUTO mode?
While in the AUTO mode, if AC power is absent, the display will show a PF (power failure) instead of the seconds scrolling up.
What does “Lo” on the display mean?
A “Lo” on the display indicates that the super cap has run low and the unit needs to be powered with AC. A minimum of 8 hours is required to fully charge the super cap.
