7. After stringing, apply a suitable locking compound to secure the cord.

8. Receive a broadcasting-station signal and set the dial pointer to the correct frequency of the station on the dial scale.

How do I perform the FM Discriminator Alignment 1 on the SONY STR-V25?

This procedure requires a VOM (Volt-Ohm-Meter).

Setting:

MODE switch: MONO

Procedure:

1. Detune the set.

2. Connect the VOM (range: 2.5 V dc) to pins 7 and ground of IC801.

3. Adjust the red core (primary-side) of IFT801 for 0 V dc reading on the VOM.

Note: Repeat the secondary-side and primary-side adjustments several times.

How do I perform the FM Discriminator Alignment 2 on the SONY STR-V25?

This procedure requires an FM RF signal generator and a distortion meter.

Setting:

MODE switch: MONO

Connect the FM RF signal generator to the FM antenna terminal. Connect the REC OUT of the receiver to the distortion meter with a 0.01 µF capacitor in line.

Carrier frequency: 98 MHz

Output level: 1 mV (60 dB)

Modulation: 400 Hz, 75 kHz deviation (100%)

Procedure:

Adjust the black core (secondary side) of IFT801 for minimum distortion.

How do I perform the VCO Adjustment on the SONY STR-V25?

There are two methods for VCO adjustment on the SONY STR-V25.

A) Regular Method (requires FM RF signal generator and frequency counter):

1. Set the MODE switch to MONO.

2. Connect the signal generator to the FM antenna terminal. Set it to 98 MHz, 400 Hz modulation with 75 kHz deviation, and an output level of 1 mV (60 dB).

3. Connect the frequency counter with a 100 kΩ resistor in series to pin 9 of IC101.

4. Tune the set to 98 MHz.

5. Adjust RT101 for a reading of 76 kHz ± 100 Hz on the counter.

B) Simple Method:

1. Tune the set to an FM stereo broadcasting signal.

2. Turn RT101 clockwise or counterclockwise and note the range over which the stereo lamp lights up.

3. Secure RT101 at the center of the lighting-up range.

How do I perform the Signal Indicator Level Adjustment on the SONY STR-V25?

This procedure requires an FM RF signal generator.

Setup:

MODE switch: MONO
