What types of floors should I avoid using the SHARK S3501 on?

Your SHARK S3501 steam mop is designed to clean hard floor surfaces that will withstand high heat. Do not use on unsealed wood or unglazed ceramic floors. Power: 1550 Watts

Water Capacity: 450 ml (15 oz.)

How do I assemble the SHARK S3501 steam mop?

1. Insert the mop handle into the pump actuator (the tube that leads to the tank). Push the mop handle and pump actuator together until you hear it click into place.

2. Select a mop head (Rectangle or Triangle) and a cleaning pad. Fit one side of the pocket onto the head first, then use the lavender loop to pull the pocket over the head. Attach the quick fasteners on the top of the pocket to secure it in place.

3. Snap the mop head into the base to secure it. To exchange mop heads, press the release button.

How do I fill the water tank on the SHARK S3501?

Before filling, ensure the mop is UNPLUGGED from the wall. Never fill the mop when it is plugged in.

1. Lay the mop on the floor or a counter top.

2. Turn the water tank cap counter-clockwise to remove it from the tank.

3. Use the filling flask to pour water into the tank. Do not overfill. It is recommended to use distilled water if you have hard water to prolong the life of the mop.

4. Replace the cap on the water tank by turning it clockwise and tightening.

Important: Only add water to the tank. Chemicals or cleaning solutions may damage the appliance and could be unsafe.

How do I prepare and operate the SHARK S3501 for use?

1. Adjust Handle Height: For your comfort, you can adjust the height of the mop. Lift the latch on the tube 90 degrees to the open position. Holding the handle, extend the tube to your desired height, then close the latch to lock it in position.

2. Plug In and Heat Up: Pull and twist the quick release cord holder to unwrap the power cord completely. Plug into a 120-volt electrical outlet. The power “On” light will turn blue. It takes approximately 30 seconds for the mop to heat up and the steam to be ready.

3. Create Steam: Pump the handle a few times in a downward motion. This pumping action will release steam as you mop and allows you to customize the amount of steam you want. When using the mop for the first time, it might take longer than 30 seconds to start steaming; just pump the handle a few times to prime the pump.

4. Start Mopping: Begin mopping with a forward and backward motion. The natural motion of mopping will produce steam. Steam is created automatically when you start mopping.

What should I do when one side of the micro-fiber pocket on my SHARK S3501 gets dirty?

When one side of the micro-fiber pocket gets dirty, just flip the mop head over and you can quickly start using the other side. Please wait 3-5 minutes for the Steam Mop to cool off before switching the mop head or the micro-fiber pockets.

What should I do when the water tank on my SHARK S3501 is empty?

When the water tank is empty, the steam mop will stop producing steam. You can refill the water tank at any time as long as the mop is unplugged from the outlet. Follow the instructions for filling the tank.

How do I use the Carpet Glider with my SHARK S3501?

The Carpet Glider can be used with the Rectangle head to lightly steam your carpet and area rugs for deodorizing and freshening. The Steam Mop will not clean your carpeting or area rugs.

1. Place the mop head on top of the glider.

2. Move the mop back and forth across a section of the carpet.

Note: The Steam Mop rests on top of the carpet glider and is not a fixed attachment. Do not leave the steam mop with the carpet glider in one stationary position for any period of time.

What is the proper procedure for after-use and storage of the SHARK S3501?

1. When you have finished using the steam mop, unplug the cord from the outlet and move it into an upright position.

2. Let the unit cool for 2-3 minutes. Release any remaining steam by pumping the handle several times.

3. Remove the micro-fiber cleaning pocket by releasing the quick fasteners and using the lavender loop on the side of the pocket. Be very careful, as the cleaning pockets can be very hot from the steam.

4. Empty the water tank.

5. To store the SHARK S3501 hanging up, first remove the head (after it has cooled and the steam has been released), then hang on a large hook.

6. If you want to store it standing upright, make sure it’s leaning against a wall for added support and safety. Always store your Steam Mop with the micro-fiber pocket removed, away from children or high traffic areas.

How do I care for the micro-fiber cleaning pockets for my SHARK S3501?

1. We recommend washing your micro-fiber pockets separately from other fabrics to avoid picking up lint.

2. Only use liquid detergent (no powder detergent). Do not use any fabric softeners or bleach.

3. Line dry or dry on a low dryer setting.

4. If there are loose threads on the pocket, carefully cut the thread with scissors. Do not pull on them or cut at the base.

Why are my floors cloudy, streaky, or spotty after using the SHARK S3501?

There could be several reasons:

• The micro-fiber pocket might be dirty. Flip or change the pocket.

• If you washed the pocket with powder detergent, the pocket might be ruined.

• If you are cleaning in a kitchen area where there might be a build-up of grease, use a degreasing agent such as an all-purpose cleaner or dish soap and paper towels to clean the area first.

• You might have left the mop in the same spot for too long.

• If you have hard water, we recommend switching to distilled water.
