The External Sensor KIT for the SAMSUNG UM55H-E has the following buttons and sensors:

– 1. Remote Control Sensor: Aim the remote control towards this spot. Keep the area between the remote and the sensor obstacle-free.

– 2. Light sensor: Automatically detects the intensity of ambient light and adjusts the screen brightness.

To place batteries in the remote, open the back cover, insert the batteries paying attention to the polarity, and then close the cover.

You can control multiple SAMSUNG UM55H-E displays using a single remote control by connecting them with an IR Stereo Cable (sold separately). Ensure the product is powered off before connecting the sensor.

Using the built-in sensor:

1. Connect the IR OUT port on the first display product to the CONTROL IN port on the second display product using the dedicated stereo cable.

2. A command sent from the remote control pointed at the first product will be received by both displays.

Using an External ambient sensor (sold separately):

1. Connect the External ambient sensor to the first display.

2. Connect the IR OUT port on the first display to the CONTROL IN port on the second display.

3. A command sent from the remote control pointed at the external sensor on the first product will be received by both displays.

Proper ventilation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your SAMSUNG UM55H-E. The requirements vary based on the installation type:

Installation on a Perpendicular Wall:

– Maintain a minimum of 40 mm of space between the product and the wall surface.

– Ensure the ambient temperature is kept under 35°C.

Installation on an Indented Wall:

– Maintain a minimum of 40 mm of space at the top (A).

– Maintain a minimum of 70 mm of space at the bottom (B).

– Maintain a minimum of 50 mm of space on the left side (C).

– Maintain a minimum of 50 mm of space on the right side (D).

– Ensure the ambient temperature is kept under 35°C (E).

When installing a wall mount on your SAMSUNG UM55H-E, please follow these guidelines and specifications:

– Install your wall mount on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor.

Pin Assignment

You can customize the layout of multiple SAMSUNG UM55H-E displays to form a video wall. This feature is accessible via the HOME button, in Support -> Go to Home -> Video Wall.

Video Wall Activation:

To organize a video wall, select On. This activates the video wall functions.

Horizontal x Vertical:

This feature automatically splits the display based on a matrix configuration. Enter the number of horizontal and vertical display devices in your setup (from 1 to 15 each, for a maximum of 225 screens). This option is only enabled when Video Wall is set to On.

Screen Position:

This allows you to rearrange the split screens. It displays the videowall matrix with numbers assigned to each product. Change the device number for each display to match its physical position in the matrix and press the ENTER button. This option is only enabled when Video Wall is set to On and Horizontal x Vertical is configured.

Format:

Select how images are displayed on the video wall.

– Full: Displays images in full screen, stretched to fit the entire video wall.

– Natural: Displays images in their original aspect ratio.

This option is only enabled when Video Wall is set to On. When using Video Wall mode, a resolution of 1280x720P, 1920x1080P or 3840x2160P is recommended for the source.

You can schedule your SAMSUNG UM55H-E to turn on and off automatically. You must set the clock first (System -> Time -> Clock Set).

On Timer

Set the On Timer for the product to turn on automatically at a specific time and day. You can set up to seven different timers (On Timer 1 ~ On Timer 7).

– Setup: Select Off, Once, Everyday, Mon~Fri, Mon~Sat, Sat~Sun, or Manual. If you select Manual, you can choose the specific days for the timer to be active.

– Time: Set the hour and minute for the product to turn on.

– Volume: Set the desired volume level.

– Source: Select the input source of your choice.

Off Timer

Set the Off Timer for the product to turn off automatically. You can set up to seven different timers (Off Timer 1 ~ Off Timer 7).

– Setup: Select Off, Once, Everyday, Mon~Fri, Mon~Sat, Sat~Sun, or Manual. If you select Manual, you can choose the specific days for the timer to be active.

– Time: Set the hour and minute for the product to turn off.

Holiday Management

This feature allows you to disable the On/Off timers during a specified holiday period.

– Add Holiday: Select the start and end dates for a holiday period. The period will be added to a list.

– Set Applied Timer: Press ENTER to select which of your set On Timers and Off Timers you want to disable during the holiday periods. The selected timers will not activate on those days.

To reduce the possibility of screen burn-in on your SAMSUNG UM55H-E, you can configure several screen protection features in the OnScreen Display menu.

Pixel Shift:

This feature minimizes image retention by finely moving pixels horizontally or vertically at set intervals.

– Pixel Shift (Off / On): Turn the feature on to enable the settings below.

– Horizontal: Sets how many pixels the screen moves horizontally (0-4).

– Vertical: Sets how many pixels the screen moves vertically (0-4).

– Time: Set the time interval for the movement (1 min. ~ 4 min.).

Timer:

This stops the screen protection feature automatically after a specified period.

– Timer (Off / Repeat / Interval): Choose how the anti-burn pattern is displayed. ‘Repeat’ displays it at a specified interval, while ‘Interval’ displays it for a specified period of time (start to finish).

– Period: Specify the time interval to activate the function (used with Repeat).

– Start Time / End Time: Set the start and end times to activate/deactivate the function (used with Interval).

Immediate Display:

Select a screen saver (e.g., Fading Screen) to display immediately.

Side Gray:

When the screen aspect ratio is 4:3, this adjusts the brightness of the white margins on the sides to protect the screen. You can set it to Off, Light, or Dark.

You can configure the SAMSUNG UM55H-E to automatically search for an active video source. Navigate to MENU -> System -> Auto Source Switching.

– Auto Source Switching: Set to On. When this is on, the display will automatically search for an active video source if the current source is not active.

– Primary Source: Specify the primary source for the automatic input search.

– Secondary Source: Specify the secondary source. This will be activated if no primary video source is available.

– Primary Source Recovery: Select whether to restore the selected primary input source automatically when it becomes active again. This is disabled if Primary Source is set to All.

If both primary and secondary sources are not recognized, the display will perform two searches. If both fail, it will return to the first video source and display a “no signal” message.

The SAMSUNG UM55H-E includes several Eco Solution features to help save power. You can access them in MENU -> System -> Eco Solution.

– Energy Saving: Reduce power consumption by adjusting the screen brightness. You can select from Off, Low, Medium, or High.

– Eco Sensor: When set to On, the picture settings will automatically adapt to the light in the room to enhance power savings. If the screen contrast is not sufficient, set this to Off.

– Min. Backlight: When Eco Sensor is On, you can manually adjust the minimum screen brightness. This setting should be lower than the main Backlight setting in the Picture menu.

You can change the security PIN for your SAMSUNG UM55H-E by following these steps. The default password is 0-0-0-0.

1. Press the MENU button.

2. Navigate to System -> Change PIN and press ENTER.

3. The “Change PIN” screen will appear.

4. Choose any 4 digits for your new PIN and enter it in “Enter a new PIN.”.

5. Re-enter the same 4 digits in “Enter the PIN again.”.

6. When the confirmation screen disappears, your new PIN is set.

You can upgrade your SAMSUNG UM55H-E’s software to the latest version using the Software Update menu.

1. Press the MENU button.

2. Navigate to Support -> Software Update and press ENTER.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Important Notes:

– Be careful not to turn off the power until the upgrade is complete. The product will turn off and on automatically after finishing.

– When you upgrade the software, all video and audio settings will return to their default values. It is advisable to write down your settings before starting so you can easily reset them afterward.

If the screen on your SAMSUNG UM55H-E keeps switching on and off, check the cable connection between the product and your PC, and ensure the connection is secure.

Blank spaces found on the screen have nothing to do with the SAMSUNG UM55H-E itself. These spaces are caused by the PC or graphics card. To resolve the problem, adjust the screen size in the HDMI or DVI settings for your graphics card. If the graphics card settings menu does not have an option to adjust the screen size, update the graphics card driver to the latest version.

The “Not Optimum Mode” message is displayed when the signal from your graphics card exceeds the product’s maximum resolution and frequency. To fix this, refer to the Standard Signal Mode Table in the product’s specifications and set the maximum resolution and frequency on your PC according to the product’s capabilities.

If the screen is blurry, try the following steps:

1. Adjust Coarse and Fine settings in the Picture menu.

2. Remove any accessories like video extension cables and try again.

3. Set the resolution and frequency to the recommended level for the display.

Your SAMSUNG UM55H-E may be turning off automatically for a few reasons:

– Go to System and make sure Sleep Timer is set to Off.

– If a PC is connected, check the power status of the PC.

– Make sure the power cable is connected properly to the product and the power outlet.

– If the signal from a connected device is not detected, the product automatically turns off after 10 to 15 minutes. Ensure your source device is on and sending a signal.

If there is no sound, or the volume is too low, please check the following:

– Check the connection of the audio cable and adjust the volume on the display.

– If the volume is still low at maximum level, adjust the volume on your PC sound card or software program.

– If an HDMI cable is connected, check the audio output settings on the PC.

– If using a DVI-HDMI cable, a separate audio cable is required as DVI does not transmit audio.

– Reconnect the power cable to the device and then reboot it.

If your remote control is not working, try these troubleshooting steps:

– Make sure that the batteries are correctly in place, matching the +/- polarity.

– Check if the batteries are flat and replace them if necessary.

– Check for power failure to the display. Make sure the power cord is connected.

– Check for any special lighting or neon signs switched on in the vicinity, as these can interfere with the IR sensor.

The screen frequency is set on your graphics card, not on the SAMSUNG UM55H-E itself. The steps vary by Windows version:

– Windows 7: Go to Control Panel → Appearance and Personalization → Display → Adjust resolution → Advanced Settings → Monitor and adjust the frequency in Monitor Settings.

– Windows 7: Go to Control Panel → Appearance and Personalization → Display → Adjust Resolution and adjust the resolution.

– Windows 8: Go to Settings → Control Panel → Appearance and Personalization → Display → Adjust Resolution and adjust the resolution.

– Windows 10: Go to Settings → System → Display → Advanced display settings, and adjust the resolution.

What is afterimage burn-in?

Afterimage burn-in can occur if the LCD panel displays a fixed, static pattern for an extended period of time (more than 12 hours). This can cause a slight voltage difference between electrodes in the pixels, leading to a previous image remaining faintly visible when the screen content changes. Normal operation with continuously changing video patterns should not cause burn-in.

How to prevent afterimage burn-in:

– The best way to protect the product is to switch the power off or set the PC/system to run a screen saver when not in use.

– Power off the product for 2 hours after using it for 12 hours.

– Use a single-color or moving-image screen saver.

– Change text and background colors every 30 minutes if displaying static text.

– Avoid using colors with contrasting brightness (like black and white) for long periods. Avoid using grey.

– For static content with a logo, display a moving image along with the logo for 60 seconds every 4 hours.

You can also enable or disable a built-in anti-screen burn-in pattern using the remote control:

– Enable pattern: Press 2 → 2 → 7 → CH ∧ → 0. The remote sensor will blink twice.

– Disable pattern: Press 2 → 2 → 7 → CH ∨ → 0. The remote sensor will blink once.
