To ensure optimum performance and safety when using your NEC ACCUSYNC AS172, please observe the following guidelines:

Do not open the monitor cabinet, as there are no user serviceable parts inside and it may expose you to dangerous shock hazards.

Do not spill liquids on the monitor or use it near water.

Do not insert objects into the cabinet slots, as they may touch dangerous voltage points.

Do not place heavy objects on the power cord, and do not bend the power cord.

Do not place the monitor on a sloping or unstable surface where it could fall and be damaged.

Ensure the monitor is not installed in high temperature, humid, dusty, or oily areas, and do not cover the vents.

Avoid installing the monitor where it will be exposed to continual vibration, as this can damage the backlight.

If the monitor or its glass screen is broken, handle it with care and do not come into contact with the liquid crystal.

Take measures to prevent the monitor from tipping over due to earthquakes or other shocks by installing it in a stable location.

Allow adequate ventilation around the monitor so heat can properly dissipate.

Handle with care during transport and save the original packaging.

Do not touch the LCD panel surface while transporting, mounting, or setting up the monitor, as applying pressure can cause serious damage.

Correct placement and adjustment of your NEC ACCUSYNC AS172 can help reduce eye, shoulder, and neck fatigue. Please follow these recommendations:

Allow 20 minutes for the display to warm up for optimum performance.

Adjust the monitor height so the top of the screen is at or slightly below eye level. Your eyes should look slightly downward when viewing the middle of the screen.

Position the monitor no closer than 40 cm (15.75 inches) and no further than 70 cm (27.56 inches) from your eyes. The optimal distance is 50 cm (19.69 inches).

Rest your eyes periodically by focusing on an object at least 20 feet away and blink often.

Position the monitor at a 90 degree angle to windows and other light sources to minimize glare. Adjust the tilt so that ceiling lights do not reflect on the screen.

If reflected light is a problem, use an anti-glare filter.

Place whatever you are looking at most of the time, such as the screen or reference material, directly in front of you to minimize head turning while typing.

Use a document holder placed close to the screen.

For the LCD panel: When the screen is dusty, gently wipe it with a soft cloth. Do not rub the panel with coarse or hard material, do not apply pressure to the LCD surface, and do not use OA cleaner as it will cause deterioration or discoloration.

For the cabinet: First, unplug the power supply. Gently wipe the cabinet with a soft cloth. You can dampen the cloth with a neutral detergent and water, then wipe the cabinet and follow with a dry cloth.

Note: Do not clean the cabinet with benzene, thinner, alkaline detergent, alcoholic system detergent, glass cleaner, wax, polish cleaner, soap powder, or insecticide. Avoid touching rubber or vinyl to the cabinet for a long time as these can cause the paint to deteriorate, crack, or peel.

First, turn off the power to your computer.

For a PC or Mac with DVI digital output: Connect the DVI signal cable to the display card connector in your system and tighten all screws.

For a PC with analog output: Connect the 15-pin mini D-SUB signal cable to the display card connector in your system and tighten all screws.

For a Mac: Connect the Macintosh cable adapter to the computer, then attach the 15-pin mini D-SUB signal cable to the adapter and tighten all screws.

Connect the other end of the video cable to the appropriate connector on the back of the NEC ACCUSYNC AS172.

Connect one end of the power cord to the monitor and the other end to the power outlet. Place the cables into the cable holder.

Turn on the NEC ACCUSYNC AS172 using the power button, then turn on the computer.

To prepare the NEC ACCUSYNC AS172 for alternative mounting:

1. Disconnect all cables.

2. Place the monitor face down on a non-abrasive surface.

3. Remove the 4 screws connecting the monitor to the stand and remove the stand.

4. Use a VESA-compatible alternative mounting method. Handle with care during this process.

The control buttons on the front of the NEC ACCUSYNC AS172 function as follows:

Select button: Displays the OSD menu when not on screen. When the OSD is displayed, it selects the function icon or adjusts the function of the selected icon.

Minus (-) button: Acts as a shortcut to Brightness when the OSD is not displayed. When OSD is displayed, it moves left or adjusts settings downward.

Plus (+) button: Acts as a shortcut to Contrast when the OSD is not displayed. When OSD is displayed, it moves right or adjusts settings upward.

1-2/RESET button: Selects the input signal when the OSD is not displayed. When adjusting a function, it resets that function.

If you encounter no picture, please check the following:

Ensure the signal cable is completely connected to the display card and computer.

Ensure the display card is completely seated in its slot.

Check that the front power switch and computer power switch are in the ON position.

Ensure a supported mode has been selected on the display card or system.

Check the monitor and display card for compatibility and recommended settings.

Check the signal cable connector for bent or pushed-in pins.

Check the signal input.

Image persistence, or a ghost image, can occur if a static image is displayed for a long period. To alleviate this on the NEC ACCUSYNC AS172, turn the monitor off for as long as the previous image was displayed. For example, if an image was on the screen for one hour and a residual image remains, turn the monitor off for one hour to erase it. Using a screen saver is recommended to prevent this.

If the NEC ACCUSYNC AS172 displays “OUT OF RANGE”, it means the signal frequency or resolution is too high. Please choose one of the supported modes for the monitor.

If the image on your NEC ACCUSYNC AS172 is unstable, unfocused, or swimming:

Ensure the signal cable is completely attached to the computer.

Use the OSD Image Adjust controls to focus and adjust the display by increasing or decreasing the fine setting.

Check the monitor and display card for compatibility and recommended signal timings.

If text is garbled, change the video mode to non-interlace and use a 60 Hz refresh rate.
