The following precautions must be observed in handling the laptop to prevent safety issues that may lead to personal injury or death, or may result in damage and may compromise the laptop’s functionality:

• Place the laptop on a flat, level and stable surface when performing any service.
• Do not place the laptop in environments subject to mist, smoke, vibration, excessive dust, salty or greasy air, or other corrosive gases and fumes.
• Do not drop or jolt the laptop.
• Do not bump or knock the LCD screen as it is fragile and could break.
• Do not use another power adapter other than the one enclosed with the laptop.
• Disconnect the power adapter and the battery pack from the laptop before performing any installation procedures on the laptop.
• Do not perform any maintenance with wet hands.
• Prevent foreign substances, such as water, other liquids or chemicals, from entering the laptop while performing installation procedures on the laptop.
• It is suggested to use a grounded wrist strap while handling laptop components which are sensitive to electro static discharge (ESD). When touching a sensitive component or assembly, ensure that it is properly grounded.
• Place components (CPU, Memory, HDD, mini-PCI Card, etc) on a grounded antistatic pad or on the bed that came with the components whenever the components are separated from the Laptop.
• Always handle electrostatic sensitive components, parts, and assemblies only at static-free work areas.

The following tools may be needed while performing the disassembly and assembly procedures on the laptop:

• Cross type screwdriver
• Parallel screwdriver
• Tweezers
• Pry tool
• Diagonal pliers
• Heat gun
• Anti-static wrist strap (optional)
• Anti-static mat with grounding wire (optional)

To disconnect the power cord:

1. Power off the laptop.

2. Unplug the power cord from both the laptop and the AC outlet.

1. Remove all the screws that secure the back cover with a cross type screwdriver.

2. Apply force from the upper left corner of the back cover to disengage the left upper and lower hooks and then disengage the right upper and lower hooks. Remove the back cover.

1. To assembly the back cover, align the upper left and right corner of the back cover, and attach the back cover in position properly. Place the lower left and right corner of the back cover back to its position.

2. Reattach all the screws and make sure they are fastened properly.

• Replacement of a battery pack with an incorrect type that can defeat a safeguard.
• Always discharge the battery before removing it from the laptop.
• If a swollen battery gets stuck in the laptop, do not try to take it out by puncturing, bending, or crushing the battery with force.
• Do not crush, drop, or bend the battery. Applying pressure to the battery is also not allowed.
• Disposal of a battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery, that can result in an explosion.
• Leaving a battery in an extremely high temperature surrounding environment that can result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
• A battery subjected to extremely low air pressure that may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
• Always keep the strong magnetic or electrical objects away from the battery and laptop.
• Disconnect the power adapter and the battery pack from the laptop before performing any installation procedures on the laptop.
• It is suggested to use a grounded wrist strap while handling laptop components which are sensitive to ESD. When touching a sensitive component or assembly, ensure that it is properly grounded.
• Always follow the instructions to disassemble or assemble the battery, or it may cause damage to the laptop, disaster of fire, or electric shock.

Always disconnect the battery cable before proceeding the disassembly procedures.

1. Locate the battery pack and find the battery cable connector. Use fingers to lift the buckle up and pull it out of the socket vertically.

2. Remove all the screws that secure the battery pack with a cross type screwdriver.

3. Remove the battery pack.

1. Place the battery pack into the battery tray properly.

2. Reattach all the screws and make sure they are fastened properly.

3. Connect the battery cable connector. Firmly insert the battery cable connector into the slot, and then press down the connector.

WARNING: Do not ingest battery. If the coin / button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns and can lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children.

1. Locate the coin battery and find the battery cable.

2. Disconnect the coin battery cable.

3. Remove the coin battery from the mainboard.

1. Place the coin battery back to the correct position.

2. Connect the coin battery cable.

1. Locate the SSD card.

2. Loosen the screw with a cross type screwdriver, and remove the SSD card.

1. To assemble the SSD card, align and insert the SSD card into the slot with 30° angle.

2. Reattach the screw to secure the SSD card.

1. Locate the WLAN card.

2. Disconnect the MAIN (black) and AUX (red) antenna cable joint.

3. Loosen the screw with a cross type screwdriver, and remove the WLAN card.

1. To assemble the WLAN card, align and insert the WLAN card into the slot with 30° angle.

2. Connect the MAIN (black) and AUX (red) antenna cable joint.

3. Reattach the screw to secure the WLAN card.

1. Lift up both hooks of the memory card.

2. Remove the memory card.

1. To assemble the memory card, align and insert the memory card into the slot with 30° angle.

2. Press down the memory card.

3. Reattach both hooks to secure the memory card.

1. Disconnect the LCD cable connector first.

2. Loosen all the screws that secure the thermal module with a cross type screwdriver.

3. Remove the thermal module vertically with care.

1. To assemble the thermal module, align and install the thermal module with correct orientation.

2. Secure the thermal module with screws.

3. Connect the fan cable connector.

1. Loosen the screws that secure the mainboard and sub-board with a cross type screwdriver.

2. Turn over the mainboard to its back with care.

3. Disconnect the board-to-board cable, keyboard LED cable connector, and keyboard cable connector.

4. Remove the mainboard and sub-board.

1. To assemble the mainboard and sub-board, connect the board-to-board cable connector, keyboard LED cable connector, and keyboard cable connector to the back of mainboard.

2. Turn over the mainboard with front side up carefully, and place back the mainboard to its position with correct orientation.

3. Place the sub-board to its position with correct orientation, and connect the board-to-board cable.

4. Secure the mainboard and sub-board with all the screws.

1. Locate the left and right speakers. Disconnect the speaker cable connector.

2. Pull out the speakers vertically with care. Gently pull out the speaker cable from the cable management ditch.

1. To assemble the speakers, insert the left and right speakers vertically with care. Arrange the speaker cable into the cable management ditch.

2. Reattach the speaker cable connector.

1. Disconnect the touchpad cable connector.

2. Loosen the screws that secure the touchpad holder with a cross type screwdriver, and then remove the touchpad holder.

3. Loosen the screws that secure the touchpad module, and then remove the touchpad module.

1. Place the touchpad module back to its position with correct orientation and then reattach the screws to secure the touchpad module.

2. Place the touchpad holder back to its position with correct orientation and then reattach the screws to secure touchpad holder.

3. Connect the touchpad cable connector properly and carefully into the socket.

1. Turn over the laptop and open the LCD display module to check the keyboard module (main base) and LCD display module.

2. Close the LCD display module front cover and leave the keyboard module (main base) seated on the table.

3. Loosen screws that secure the left and right joint of each side with a cross type screwdriver.

4. Slightly lift up the keyboard module (main base) from the LCD display module.

5. Separate the LCD display module and the keyboard module (main base).

1. Place the LCD display module and the keyboard module (main base) back to its position with correct orientation.

2. Align the left and right joints of the LCD display module to the keyboard module (main base).

3. Reattach the screws to secure the left and right joints of each side with a cross type screwdriver.

1. Turn over the keyboard module (main base).

2. Remove all the glued joints with diagonal pliers.

3. Remove the keyboard shielding and the keyboard.

1. Follow the direction marks shown below to separate the LCD bezel from the LCD display module with a pry tool.

2. Remove the LCD bezel from the LCD display module with care.

1. Align the LCD bezel with the lower left and right edge of the LCD display module.

2. Follow the direction marks to assemble the LCD bezel to the LCD display module.

3. Align the camera hole of the LCD bezel to the camera module, and use fingers to fasten the LCD bezel to the LCD display module from the middle to both sides.

1. Loosen screws that secure the left and right joint of each side with a cross type screwdriver.

2. Slightly lift up the LCD panel and separate the LCD panel from the front cover of the laptop.

1. Align the LCD panel and the front cover of the laptop with correct orientation.

2. Align the left and right hinges to LCD display module with correct orientation.

3. Use a cross type screwdriver to fasten all screws to secure the left and right hinges.

1. Follow the direction marks to tear off the camera cable.

2. Use tweezers to gently separate and remove the camera module from the front cover with care.

1. Follow the direction marks to paste the camera cable onto the front cover of the laptop.

2. Install the camera module with correct orientation and with care.

1. Connect the power cord to both the laptop and the AC outlet.

2. Power on the laptop.

1. Turn over the back cover to see its inner side.

2. The plastic back cover can be recycled by qualified recyclers.

1. Turn over the keyboard module (main base).

2. Remove all the glued joints with diagonal pliers.

3. Remove the keyboard shielding and the keyboard.

4. Use diagonal pliers to remove all the screw bosses with copper sticks from the upper case.

5. The removed upper case can be recycled by qualified recyclers.

1. Use diagonal pliers to cut the external power supply DC cable.

2. Use heat gun to heat the betweens of upper and lower cases of the power adapter, and then use parallel screwdriver to separate the cases.

3. The removed upper and lower cases of the power adapter can be recycled by qualified recyclers.

Before using MSI Center, it is recommended to create your own account and register your MSI product to get your full benefits from MSI Center at once. To have the complete function of MSI Center, keep the Windows system login with a single administrator account as specific functions require higher system privileges in order to work (e.g. GPU Switch for Intel 13th Gen laptop models or newer, Fn/Win Key Switch, USB PowerShare, etc…)

1. Make sure the Internet connection works properly.

2. Activate MSI Center, move the mouse cursor to the profile icon at the upper right corner and click on it to enter [My Device] page.

3. Click on [Product Registration] to enter Login page.

4. Connect an MSI device to your laptop, if any. You can also enter the Login page by clicking on [Sign up/ Log in].

5. Select [Join MSI Member] to create an account, and then follow the on-screen instructions to apply a personal account and register your MSI product.

1. Once a personal account is created, and logged in the account, you may start to register your products.

2. The laptop you are using will be detected by MSI Center automatically, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration.

3. To register MSI multi-media accessories which are connected to the laptop, click [+] and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration.

1. Move the mouse cursor to the [Setting] icon at the upper right corner and click on it.

2. Make selections to the Color, Dark mode or Light mode; and the Language.

Within the latest MSI Center, you are able to choose your own style and features. Simply install or update your favorite features in Feature Sets page.

1. Move the mouse cursor to the [Feature Sets] icon at the upper right corner and click on it.

2. In Feature Sets page, feel free to select, install or uninstall any MSI features listed to meet your personal needs.

Activate MSI Center and click on Features. Find the features which are selected and installed in Feature Sets. Here comes the brief introductions to each feature:

• MSI Recovery: Backup the factory settings to USB drive or ISO file.
• Smart Priority: Optimize the user experience for creative applications.
• Gaming Mode: Provide auto-tuning function for your favorite games.
• General Settings: Collect useful features in one page.
• System Diagnosis: Check health status for important hardware parts.
• User Scenario: Adjust the system performance and fan speed for different usage scenarios.
• Duet Display: Capture important portion of display and show on the 2nd display.
• Game Highlights: Capture in-game highlight video for gamers to share or edit.

Go to MSI Center [Features > System Diagnostics] and find [Battery Master]. Users may distinguish the battery health status by the colors of the battery icon.

Select a suitable Battery modes for different usage:

• Al Charger: automatically switch to the most suitable battery mode based on Al calculation.
• Best for Mobility: Charge the battery to 100% at all time.
• Balanced: Charge the battery when under 70%, and stop charging at 80%.
• Best for Battery: Charge the battery when under 50%, and stop charging at 60%.

Go to MSI Center [Support > System Diagnostics] and find Battery Calibration. Click on the [Battery Calibration] icon.

1. If you are using the Battery Calibration process for the very first time, at the [Status] field, there will be no information telling the date of last calibration.

2. Before starting the Battery Calibration process, it is required to check that the following conditions, a green signal will appear for each item if they meet the requirement:

• The AC/DC adapter must be connected.
• The battery must be installed properly.
• No any other application is activated.

3. A red signal will appear, if any condition listed above does not meet the requirement.

4. Click on the [Start] icon to start the Battery Calibration process.

5. The calibration process status will be shown on the display telling users that the system is now charging, recharging, or discharging.

6. Calibration completed. MSI recommends doing Battery Calibration every 3 months to have the best battery life.

7. If the calibration process kept going failed, please replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.

8. If the AC/DC adapter is disconnected during the calibration process, a warning notification will appear. Please reconnect the AC/DC adapter to continue the calibration process within 15 seconds; otherwise the calibration process will stop automatically.

Go to MSI Center [Features > System Diagnosis]. Users may read the real-time status of the HDD and SSD storage and memory usage.

1. To clean up the disk, move the mouse cursor to [Clean Up Disk] and right click on it to bring the dialog window of [Disk Cleanup for Windows], and then follow the on-screen instructions to clean up the disk.

2. To free up the memory, simply move the mouse cursor to [Free Up Memory] and right click on it.

SSD status provides the information of SSD model, capacity, temperature, health status. Users may distinguish the SSD health status by the colors of the SSD icon. Click the refresh icon to get the SSD status refreshed when it is needed.

The status levels are:

• Healthy
• Good
• Replacement is recommended
• Replacement is strongly recommended

Performance Analysis provides system performance analysis report of the laptop. Go to MSI Center [Features > Performance Analysis].

1. Click on [New] to create a new Performance Analysis report.

2. Specify a time period.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to generate the report as specified.

4. It is allowed to export the Performance Analysis report by clicking the [Export Report].

Hardware Diagnosis is capable of doing a quick self-examination for the hardware devices of the laptop. Go to MSI Center [Features > Hardware Diagnosis], and follow the on-screen instructions to continue the self-examination procedures.

1. One-Click Scan: check the status of the battery, LAN, WLAN, Fan module, etc.

2. Audio: check the internal audio devices status.

3. System Suspend: set the system into sleep mode, and auto wake-up the system.

4. HDMI: check the connection status of HDMI devices.

5. Keyboard: check the keyboard LED status.

6. Touchpad: check the touchpad status.

1. Connect to Internet, and go to MSI Center [Support > Live Update].

2. Move the mouse cursor to [Scan] icon, and click on it.

3. Live Update is capable to analyze the system automatically and give a list with every latest drivers and utilities available for updating.

4. Select a required driver or utility for updating, and then click [Download] to continue. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

5. You may read the message [No Internet connection. Please connect to the Internet and retry], please check the Internet connection.

1. To use this function for the very first time, analyzing the system by Live Update is a must.

2. Connect to internet, go to MSI Center [Support > Live Update], and click [Scan] icon.

3. Go to Micorsoft app now, users will get a list with compatible utilities.

4. Select a desired utility, and follow the on-screen instructions to downloading the APP.

Go to MSI Center [Support > System Info].

1. System Info: Read-only system information provided here.

2. Export System Info: Export the current system information data to a .txt file.

3. Content Transfer: Use this function when contacting MSI online customer service agents. Follow the instructions given by the online agent to continue.

1. Go to MSI Center [Support > MSI Recovery].

2. Click [Start] and then [Yes] to enter MSI Recovery main page under WinPE.

To use MSI Recovery function for the very first time, it is a must to make a MSI Rescue USB disk first. Select [Backup] to start making MSI Rescue USB disk.

1. Insert an USB flash disk with minimum capacity 32GB required. Click [Next] to continue.

2. Select the path of the inserted USB flash disk and then click [Select] to continue.

3. Be noted that making a MSI Rescue USB disk, the USB flash disk will be formated, all data will lost.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete creating the MSI Rescue USB disk.

5. Keep the MSI Rescue USB disk properly, it will be used whenever you perform the Backup and Restore functions.

1. To make a Customize Image Backup, always be sure to have the MSI Rescue USB disk inserted to the laptop.

2. Insert another USB flash disk or connect a hard disk with available capacity required.

3. Select [Customize Image Backup] to continue.

4. Select the path of the inserted USB flash disk or the connected hard disk, then select [Select] to continue.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete creating the Customize Image Backup in a *.wim file format.

6. Keep the backup file properly, it will be used while performing the Restore function.

If the hard drive or the system encountered non-recoverable problems, it is recommended to proceed the MSI recovery function with the MSI Image Backup or Customize Image Backup which you made in advance.

1. Go to MSI Recovery main page, and select [Restore].

2. To perform the Restore function, always make sure that the MSI Rescue USB disk is inserted to the laptop.

3. Connect the storage drive, where you can find the Customize Image Backup *.wim file, to your laptop.

4. You may restore the system from MSI Image Backup to have the system restored back to the factory default settings.

5. Or, to restore the system from the Customize Image Backup by finding and selecting the *.wim file from the connected storage drive to have the system restored back to a specific point in time. Click [Select] to continue.

6. AC power is required while proceeding MSI Recovery function. Assure that the AC power is connected to the laptop before moving forward to the next step.

7. Always make sure that the important data has been backed up before continuing MSI Recovery process.

8. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue and complete MSI Recovery process.
