What are the important operating instructions for the MOTOROLA TALKABOUT T460?
To ensure safe and efficient operation of your MOTOROLA TALKABOUT T460, please observe the following guidelines:
Push-to-Talk (PTT) Timeout Timer: To prevent accidental transmissions and save battery life, the radio emits a continuous warning tone and stops transmitting if you press the PTT button for 60 seconds continuously.
Body-Worn Operation: If you wear the radio on your body, always place the radio in a Motorola Solutions-approved clip, holder, holster, case, or body harness for this product. If you do not use a Motorola Solutions-approved body-worn accessory, keep the radio and its antenna at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the body when transmitting. Do NOT hold the antenna when the radio is transmitting, as this can affect radio performance and may result in a non-compliant RF exposure level.
Audio Safety:
Exposure to loud noises from any source for extended periods of time may temporarily or permanently affect your hearing. The louder the radio’s volume, the less time is required before your hearing could be affected.
To protect your hearing:
• Use the lowest volume necessary to do your job.
• Turn up the volume only if you are in noisy surroundings.
• Turn down the volume before putting on a headset or earpiece.
• Limit the amount of time you use a headset or earpiece at high volume.
• When using the radio without a headset or earpiece, do not place the speaker of the radio directly against your ear.
Medical Devices: If you use a personal medical device, such as a pacemaker or hearing aid, consult the manufacturer of your device to determine if it is adequately shielded from RF energy. Your physician may be able to assist you in obtaining this information.
Operational Warnings:
• For a vehicle with an air bag: Do not place a portable radio in the area over an air bag or in the air bag deployment area. Air bags inflate with great force. If a portable radio is placed in the air bag deployment area and the air bag inflates, the radio may be propelled with great force and cause serious injury to occupants of the vehicle.
• Turn your radio OFF prior to entering any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, unless it is a radio type especially qualified for use in such areas (for example, Factory Mutual Approved).
• Do not remove, install, or charge batteries in such areas.
• Sparks in a potentially explosive atmosphere can cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death.
What are the safety precautions for using the MOTOROLA TALKABOUT T460 in potentially explosive atmospheres?
To avoid a possible explosion, follow these precautions:
• The areas with potentially explosive atmospheres referred to above include fueling areas such as below decks on boats, fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities, areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust or metal powders, and any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine.
• Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres are often, but not always, posted.
• To avoid possible interference with blasting operations, turn your radio OFF when you are near electrical blasting caps, in a blasting area, or in areas posted: “Turn off two-way radio.” Obey all signs and instructions.
What are the battery safety guidelines for the MOTOROLA TALKABOUT T460?
CAUTION: Use only Motorola Solutions approved batteries. Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Charge your battery using the supplied charger or a Motorola Solutions approved charger that is designed to charge the battery. Use the battery in accordance with its water and/or dust Ingress Protection (IP) rating.
To charge your radio battery, use only the supplied charger or an authorized power supply. Do not use an unauthorized power supply.
• Do not dispose of your battery in a fire.
• Do not replace the battery in any area labeled “Hazardous Atmosphere”.
• Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, shred, or otherwise attempt to change the form of your battery.
• Do not dry a wet battery or damp battery with an appliance or heat source, such as a hair dryer or microwave oven.
• Do not allow conductive material such as jewelry, keys, or beaded chains to touch exposed battery terminals.
• Do not use accessories that are not Motorola Solutions approved. This may result in radio non-compliance with RF exposure guidelines and may void your warranty.
Power Supply Safety Instructions:
• The power supply is for use with equipment according to IEC/EN/UL 62368-1/60950-1.
• The power supply is for indoor use in dry locations.
• The equipment should be connected to a nearby and easily accessible socket outlet.
• If the power supply is damaged or defective, do not repair or use the power supply.
