DivX Video-on-Demand (VOD) allows you to play purchased DivX VOD movies on your LG 42PT25. To play these movies, your device must first be registered.

To register your LG 42PT25:

1. Locate the DivX VOD section in your device’s setup menu.

2. In this section, you will find your registration code.

3. Use this code to complete the registration process for your device.

Your LG 42PT25 is DivX Certified to play DivX video up to HD 1080p, including premium content.

When you unbox your LG 42PT25, you should find the following items. If anything is missing, please contact the local dealer where you purchased the product.

The ferrite core is used to reduce electromagnetic interference in the connecting cables. The number of ferrite cores supplied and their usage depends on your model and connections.

For the PC Audio Cable:

1. Wind the PC audio cable on the ferrite core three times.

2. Place the ferrite core close to the TV.

For the Power Cable:

1. To reduce interference, wind the power cable on the ferrite core once.

2. Place the ferrite core close to the TV. For additional reduction, you can use a second core placed close to the wall plug.

For the LAN Cable:

1. Wind the LAN cable once on the small ferrite core.

2. Wind the LAN cable three times on the big ferrite core.

3. Place the ferrite cores close to the TV.

The number of ferrite cores to use depends on your setup:

• If one core: Use on PC audio cable.

• If two cores: Use one on PC audio and one on the power cable (near the TV).

• If three cores: Use one on PC audio and two on the power cable (one near TV, one near plug).

The main buttons on your LG 42PT25 allow you to control basic functions without the remote. Here are their functions:

Your TV also features an Intelligent Sensor that adjusts image quality based on the surrounding environment, and a Power Indicator that shows if the TV is in standby (red) or on (off).

To prevent scratches or damage and ensure safe transport, please follow these guidelines when lifting or moving your LG 42PT25:

• It is recommended to move the TV in the original box or packing material it came in.

• Before moving or lifting the TV, disconnect the power cord and all other cables.

• When holding the TV, ensure the screen faces away from you to prevent scratches.

• Hold the top and bottom of the TV frame firmly. Do not hold the transparent part, speaker, or speaker grill area.

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this could damage the screen or pixels.

• When transporting a large TV like the LG 42PT25, at least two people are required.

• When transporting the TV by hand, hold it as shown in the manual’s illustration.

• Do not expose the TV to jolts or excessive vibration.

• Keep the TV upright during transport; never turn it on its side or tilt it to the left or right.

To attach the stand to your LG 42PT25, follow these steps:

1. Lay the TV with the screen side down on a flat surface. To protect the screen from damage, place a foam mat or soft protective cloth on the surface first.

2. Assemble the two parts of the stand: the Stand Body and the Stand Base.

3. Secure the TV and the stand together using the 4 screws provided.

4. Tighten the screws firmly to prevent the TV from tilting forward, but be careful not to over-tighten them.

If you choose not to use the desk-type stand, for instance when wall-mounting your LG 42PT25, you should cover the opening at the bottom of the TV.

1. Push the supplied protection cover into the opening at the bottom of the TV until it locks in place.

2. Attach the protection cover tape.

This will protect the opening from accumulating dust and dirt. If you later decide to install a wall mounting bracket, use the Protection cover as part of the installation.

Follow these steps to correctly place your LG 42PT25 on a table:

1. After attaching the stand, lift and tilt the TV into its upright position on a stable table.

2. Ensure there is a minimum of 10 cm of space between the TV and the wall for proper ventilation.

3. Connect the power cord to a wall outlet.

To prevent the TV from falling over, it is recommended to securely attach it to the floor or wall according to installation instructions. Tipping, shaking, or rocking the TV may cause injury.

To prevent your LG 42PT25 from tipping over, you can secure it to a wall using the following method:

1. Insert and tighten the eye-bolts, or TV brackets and bolts, on the back of the TV. If there are already bolts in the eye-bolt positions, remove them first.

2. Mount the wall brackets with bolts to the wall. The location of the wall bracket should match the location of the eye-bolts on the rear of the TV.

3. Connect the eye-bolts and the wall brackets tightly with a sturdy rope. Make sure to keep the rope horizontal with the flat surface.

Ensure that children do not climb on or hang on the TV. Use a platform or cabinet that is strong and large enough to support the TV securely.

To wall mount your LG 42PT25, you must use a wall mount bracket that meets the VESA standard. The specifications for the 42PT25** model are as follows:

Important safety precautions for wall mounting:

• Disconnect the power first before moving or installing the TV.

• If you install the TV on a ceiling or slanted wall, it may fall and result in severe injury. Use an authorized LG wall mount bracket and contact a qualified professional.

• Do not over-tighten the screws, as this may cause damage to the TV and void your warranty.

• Use screws and wall mount brackets that meet the VESA standard.

To keep the cables organized and secure on your LG 42PT25, follow these steps:

1. Install the Power Cord Holder and the Power Cord into it. This will help prevent the power cable from being removed by accident.

2. Gather and bind the other cables with the provided Cable Holder.

Do not move the TV by holding the Cable Holder or Power Cord Holder, as these holders may break, potentially causing injury or damage to the TV.

When you turn on your LG 42PT25 for the first time, an Initial Setting screen will appear to guide you through the basic setup.

1. Connect the power cord to a power outlet.

2. In Standby mode, press the (POWER) button to turn the TV on.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to customize your TV settings. You will be prompted to set the following:

• Language: Selects a language to display.

• Mode Setting: Selects Home Use for the home environment.

• Power Indicator: Sets the power indicator behavior (only on LED LCD TV models when Home Use is selected).

• Country: Selects the country where the TV will be used.

• Time Zone: Selects the local time zone.

• Set Password: Sets a password (required in some regions like France).

• Auto Tuning: Automatically scans and saves all available programs.

4. When the basic settings are complete, press OK.

You can use the Auto Tuning feature to automatically find and store all available channels. Starting this process will delete any previously stored channel information.

1. Press the Home button on your remote to access the main menus.

2. Use the navigation buttons to scroll to SETUP and press OK.

3. Scroll to Auto Tuning and press OK.

4. Select your signal source (e.g., Antenna or Cable) and press OK.

5. Select Start to begin the automatic tuning process. The TV will now scan and save all available programs automatically.

6. When the scan is finished, press EXIT. To return to the previous menu, press BACK.

You can manage your saved channels by deleting, moving, locking, or skipping them in the Programme Edit menu.

1. Press Home to access the main menus.

2. Navigate to SETUP and press OK.

3. Scroll to Programme Edit and press OK.

Once in the menu, you can perform the following actions using the colored buttons on your remote:

Deleting a program:

1. Use the navigation buttons to select the program you want to delete.

2. Press the Red button. The selected program will be deleted, and all subsequent programs will shift up one position.

Moving a program:

1. Select the program you wish to move.

2. Press the Green button, then use the navigation buttons to move it to the desired position, and press the Green button again to release it.

Locking a program:

1. Select the program you want to lock.

2. Press the Yellow button to lock it. Press the Yellow button again to release the lock.

Skipping a program:

1. Select the program you want to skip.

2. Press the Blue button. The program will be marked in blue and will be skipped when you use the P ^/v buttons. You can still access it by entering the program number directly.

The EPG provides information about program listings, start and end times, and other details for available services.

Switch On/Off EPG:

• Press the GUIDE button on your remote control to switch the EPG on or off.

Select a Program:

• While in the EPG, use the navigation buttons or the P ^/v buttons to select your desired program.

Guide Modes and Options:

• NOW/NEXT Guide Mode: View the currently broadcasting program and the next scheduled program.

• 8 Day Guide Mode: View program schedules for up to 8 days.

• Record/Remind Setting Mode (Only Plasma TV): This allows you to set a start and end time for recording or a reminder. This function requires a recording device connected via a SCART cable to the TV-OUT(AV1) terminal.

To set a recording or reminder:

1. In the EPG, select a future program and press OK.

2. In the pop-up window, select the function you want (Record or Remind).

3. Use the navigation buttons to select Type, Start Time, End Time, or Programme and adjust the settings.

4. Select Save to confirm.

You can resize the image to its optimal size by pressing the RATIO button on your remote while watching TV. The available options are:

• 16:9: Resizes the image to fit the widescreen format of the TV.

• Just Scan: Displays the video image in its original size without removing any parts of the edge. This can sometimes show noise at the edges of the signal. This is available in DTV/HDMI/Component modes over 720p.

• Original: When the TV receives a widescreen signal, it automatically changes to the picture format being broadcast.

• Full Wide: Adjusts the picture horizontally or vertically in a linear proportion to fill the entire screen. This is available in Analogue/DTV/AV/Scart modes.

• 4:3: Resizes the image to the previous standard 4:3 format.

• 14:9: Allows you to view a picture in 14:9 format. The screen is viewed similarly to 4:3 but is moved up and down.

• Zoom: Enlarges the image to fit the screen width. The top and bottom of the image may be cut off.

• Cinema Zoom: Enlarges the image to a cinemascope ratio (e.g., 2.35:1). You can adjust the zoom ratio from 1 to 16.

Each AV mode has optimized image and sound settings for different types of content. To select a mode, press the AV MODE button on your remote repeatedly.

If you select ‘Off’, the picture and image settings you previously customized will be applied.

The Child Lock feature locks the buttons on the TV itself to prevent unwanted operations by children.

1. Press the Home button to access the main menus.

2. Use the navigation buttons to scroll to LOCK and press OK.

3. Scroll to Key Lock and press OK.

4. Select On to activate the feature. To deactivate it, select Off.

5. When you are finished, press EXIT.

When the Key Lock is active, a “Key Lock” message will appear on the screen if any button on the TV is pressed. You can still control the TV using the remote control.

The quick menu (Q. MENU) provides fast access to frequently used menus.

1. Press the Q. MENU button on your remote to open the menu.

2. Use the navigation buttons to scroll through the available options and press OK to select one.

3. Use the navigation buttons to select your desired setting.

4. When you are finished, press Q. MENU to exit.

When watching 3D images on your LG 42PT25, please follow these safety guidelines:

• Viewing Distance: Maintain a distance of at least twice the screen width. Ensure you can see the entire screen at eye level.

• Eye Strain: Watching 3D too closely or for extended periods can harm your eyesight. If you experience drowsiness, headaches, or fatigue, stop watching and rest.

• Health Conditions: Pregnant women, seniors, individuals with heart problems, or those who experience frequent drowsiness should refrain from watching 3D TV.

• Physical Reactions: Some 3D content may cause you to duck or dodge. Avoid watching 3D TV near fragile objects that can be knocked over.

• Children: Prevent children under the age of 5 from watching 3D TV, as it may affect their vision development.

• Photosensitive Seizures: Some viewers may experience seizures when exposed to flashing lights or images. If you or a family member has a history of epilepsy or seizures, consult a doctor before watching 3D TV.

• Symptoms to Watch For: If you experience dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, confusion, or nausea, stop watching immediately and consult a doctor.

• Take Breaks: Take frequent breaks from watching 3D TV.

To view 3D content, you must wear your 3D glasses.

Viewing 3D Images:

1. Play a 3D video or select a 3D channel.

2. Press the 3D button on your remote and select the same 3D type as the content displayed on the screen (e.g., side-by-side, top-and-bottom).

3. An information window will appear. Press OK.

4. To turn off 3D mode, press the 3D button again and select OK.

Using the 3D Quick Menu:

1. Press the 3D SETTING button on the remote.

2. Use the following options to adjust the 3D experience:

To connect your LG 42PT25 to a wired Local Area Network (LAN):

1. Connect one end of a standard LAN cable (Cat5 or better with an RJ45 connector) to the LAN port on the back of the TV.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to your router or broadband modem.

3. Press the Home button on your remote to access the main menus.

4. Navigate to SETUP and press OK.

5. Scroll to NETWORK and press OK.

6. Select Network Setting and press OK.

7. Select IP Auto Setting. If you have a DHCP server (like most routers), the TV will automatically be allocated an IP address. If you need to enter network details manually, select IP Manual Setting and input the required information (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS).

8. When you are finished, press EXIT.

If you have connection problems, try resetting your router or modem by powering it off and on again.

You can connect a USB flash drive or external hard drive to your LG 42PT25 to view photos, watch movies, and listen to music.

Connecting a USB Device:

1. Connect your USB storage device to the USB port on the TV. The ‘My Media’ screen should appear automatically.

Browsing Files:

1. If the ‘My Media’ screen does not appear, press Home, navigate to My Media, and press OK.

2. Select PHOTO LIST, MUSIC LIST, or MOVIE LIST and press OK.

3. Use the on-screen controls and the remote to navigate through your folders and files.

Disconnecting a USB Device Safely:

1. Press the Q.MENU button to access the quick menu.

2. Navigate to USB Device and press OK.

3. Select Eject and press OK.

4. Wait for the message confirming that it is safe to remove the device, and then disconnect it.

Do not turn off the TV or unplug the USB device while it is being accessed, as this could result in data loss or damage to the device.

To customize the picture settings on your LG 42PT25:

Activating SIMPLINK:

Regularly cleaning your LG 42PT25 will help maintain its performance and extend its lifespan. Before cleaning, make sure to turn the power off and disconnect the power cord and all other cables.

Screen and Frame:

• For dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, and soft cloth.

• For major dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or a diluted mild detergent. Immediately wipe dry with a dry cloth.

• Do not push, rub, or hit the surface with sharp objects. Do not use chemicals like waxes, benzene, or alcohol, as they can damage the screen’s finish.

Cabinet and Stand:

• Wipe with a dry, clean, and soft cloth for light dirt. For major dirt, use a soft cloth dampened with clean water or a mild detergent, then wipe dry immediately.

Power Cord:

• Remove any accumulated dust or dirt from the power cord regularly.

If a fixed image is displayed on your LG 42PT25 Plasma TV screen for a long period, it can become permanently imprinted. This is known as “image burn” or “burn-in” and is not covered by the warranty. To prevent this:

• Avoid displaying a fixed image on the screen for a prolonged period (1 or more hours for a Plasma TV).

• If you set the aspect ratio to 4:3 for a long time, burn-in may occur on the letterboxed areas of the screen.

If your LG 42PT25 has no image display and no sound, try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Check if the product is turned on.

• Check if the power cord is securely connected to a wall outlet.

• Check if there is a problem with the wall outlet by connecting another product to it.

If the image appears slowly when the TV turns on, this is normal as the image is muted during the product startup process. If the image does not appear after a few minutes, unplug the TV for 30 seconds and try again. If the problem persists, contact an authorized service center.

If you cannot control your LG 42PT25 with the remote control, follow these steps:

• Check the remote control sensor on the TV and try again.

• Ensure there are no obstacles between the remote control and the TV.

• Check if the batteries are still working and are installed correctly, matching the (+) and (-) terminals.
