Step 1. Take the pipe assembly out of the carton.

Step 2. Loosen the Height Adjustment Nut by turning it counter-clockwise.

Step 3. Raise the Extension Pipe.

Step 4. Tighten the Height Adjustment Nut by turning it clockwise.

Step 1. Place the base flat on the floor.

Step 2. Place the base pipe ring over the hole in the base. With a twisting motion, insert the end of the large diameter pipe into the hole in the Base. Turning the pipe while pushing will ensure the pipe is fully seated in the Base.

Step 3. For height adjustment: loosen the Height Adjustment Nut, raise or lower the Extension Pipe to the desired height, then tighten the Height Adjustment Nut.

Step 1. Place the Head Assembly with its Collar onto the Extension Pipe.

Step 2. Holding the Extension Pipe firmly, twist the Head Assembly downward until it is seated on the Extension Pipe.

CAUTION: When making a height adjustment after the head assembly is attached, ALWAYS support the extension pipe with one hand, as loosening the height adjustment nut may otherwise cause a rapid fall of the extension pipe and head assembly.

Step 1. Tilt the Head Assembly back and place the Rear Grill on the Motor.

Step 2. Align the tab of the plastic Rear Grill with the groove on top of the front Motor cover.

Step 3. Fully seat the Rear Grill and secure it with the Plastic Nut by turning clockwise.

Step 4. Slide the Blade onto the Motor Shaft, aligning the groove on the blade hub with the Pin on the motor shaft.

Step 5. To secure the Blade, screw the Spinner onto the Shaft Counter-Clockwise until it is tight on the Blade hub.

Step 6. With the fan head in an upright position, align the Ornament of the Front Grill so it is horizontal and right side up.

Step 7. Starting with the top of the grill and working down, insert the Snaps on the Rear Grill through the Slots in the Front Grill.

Step 1. Plug the cord set into a 120 V~ outlet. Be sure that the plug fits tightly into the outlet. When plugs fit loosely into receptacles, they may slip partially or completely out of the receptacle with only the slight movement of the attached cord. Receptacles in this condition may overheat and pose a serious fire hazard; if covered by a curtain or drape, the fire hazard is even greater.

Step 2. Apply power to the Fan by pushing the Power Button (power symbol).

Step 3. You may now adjust the fan speed to the desired level, Low, Medium, or High by pressing the Fan Speed Button (fan symbol).

Step 4. To make the fan head move from side to side, push down the oscillation knob on the motor housing. To make the fan head stationary, pull the oscillation knob up.

Step 5. After turning the Fan off, unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.

Step 1. Install two “AAA” batteries (not supplied) as shown in the remote.

Step 2. The Remote Control Power Button is labeled with a power symbol (O).

Step 3. All the functions performed with the Remote Control work identically to the Manual Controls.

Step 4. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.

Step 5. DO NOT DISPOSE OF BATTERIES IN FIRE. BATTERIES MAY EXPLODE OR LEAK.

If your LASKO 1889 fan fails to operate, see below for a probable cause and solution: Be sure the power cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet.

To reduce the risk of electrical shock and fire please observe the following instructions:

• Always unplug the cord before moving, servicing or cleaning.

• NEVER place the Fan in or near water.

• Disassembled grills may be immersed to be cleaned with a mild detergent and water. Wipe all other parts with a soft cloth moistened with water and mild detergent only. DRY ALL PARTS COMPLETELY BEFORE REASSEMBLING.

• After any maintenance or servicing, completely reassemble the unit as described in this instruction manual before reconnecting to the power supply.

• NEVER use ALCOHOL or SOLVENTS such as gasoline, benzene, paint thinner, or other harsh cleaners.

STORAGE: Store the Fan with these instructions, in the original carton in a cool, dry place.

LUBRICATION: The motor is permanently lubricated.

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock and injury to persons, including the following:

1. Read all instructions before using this Fan.

2. Make certain the power source conforms to the electrical requirements of the Fan.

3. Make certain that the room is equipped with a working smoke detector.

4. Use this Fan only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electrical shock, or injury to persons.

5. To reduce the risk of personal injury and electric shock, the Fan should not be played with or placed where small children can reach it.

6. Unplug power cord before installing, servicing, or moving the Fan.

7. DO NOT DEPEND ON THE ON/OFF SWITCH AS THE SOLE MEANS OF DISCONNECTING POWER WHEN SERVICING OR MOVING THE FAN. ALWAYS UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. ALWAYS TURN OFF AND UNPLUG FAN BEFORE LEAVING THE AREA. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED WHEN THE FAN IS ON OR PLUGGED IN.

• This Fan must NOT be used in potentially dangerous locations such as flammable, explosive, chemical-laden or wet atmospheres where gasoline, paint or flammable liquids are used or stored.

• DO NOT use Fan in or near a window. Rain may create an electrical hazard.

• This Fan is not intended for use in wet or damp locations. NEVER locate a Fan where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.

• NEVER use Fan outdoors.

• This Fan is not suitable for use in agricultural facilities including areas where livestock, poultry or other animals are confined.

• This Fan is not suitable for use in hazardous locations.

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. Match wide blade of plug to wide slot. Fully insert. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to defeat this safety feature.

This plug is a safety feature. It contains a safety device (fuse) that should not be removed. Discard product if the attachment plug is damaged. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury, DO NOT remove, replace, repair or tamper with the originally supplied plug.

Where possible, avoid the use of extension cords because the extension cord may overheat and cause a fire. If you must use an extension cord, minimize the risk of overheating by using the shortest cord possible and ensuring that it is UL listed.

NEVER use a single extension cord to operate more than one Fan.

Do not plug Fan into any other cord connected device, such as a power strip, cord reel, surge protector, multiple outlet adapters or outlet-type air fresheners. The use of such devices may create a fire hazard.

• Always place the Fan on a stable, flat, level surface when operating to avoid the chance of the Fan overturning.

• Locate the Power Cord so the Fan or other objects are not resting on it.

• Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings.

• Do not route cord under furniture or appliances.

• Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.

Remote controls for other appliances or electronic equipment can sometimes interfere with the operation of this Fan. If this occurs, move the Fan to another location. Keep the Fan remote control unit away from chairs and your bed where it may be sat or laid upon and inadvertently turn on the Fan.

If the LASKO 1889 fan causes harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, you are encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
