Please adhere to the following safety instructions for your EVE AUDIO SC3012:

7. DO NOT defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. If the provided plug does not fit your outlet, consult an electrician.

8. PROTECT the power cord from being walked on or pinched.

9. ONLY USE attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

10. USE ONLY with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer. Use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

11. UNPLUG this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.

12. REFER all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required if the apparatus is damaged in any way.

13. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus.

14. The MAINS plug must remain readily operable.

15. DO NOT overload wall outlets or extension cords.

16. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.

17. WARNING: This product is intended to be operated ONLY from the AC Voltages listed on the back panel or included power supply. Operation from other voltages may cause irreversible damage and void the warranty.

Follow these steps for a quick setup:

1. First Steps: Check the package components (loudspeaker, user’s manual, power cord, rubber feet). Check the mains voltage setting and the setting of the DIP switches on the rear panel.

2. Speaker Connection: Connect one of the monitor inputs on the rear side (RCA or XLR) to the line output of a playback source, like an audio interface. Ensure the output level of the source is set as low as possible.

3. Powering On: Engage the Power switch on the rear side of the loudspeaker. The LEDs around the Volume control will light up clockwise. If the rightmost LED is dimly lit, the speaker is in Standby mode; press the Volume control to turn it on.

4. Setting Level: Increase the output level on your source device until the LED ring on the speaker starts to blink, then reduce the output level slightly. This sets the maximum operating level for the input optimally. Use the Volume control on the loudspeaker to set your desired listening volume.

The EVE AUDIO SC3012 has two analog input connectors on the rear panel for connecting your audio sources:

Connectors:

• XLR: For balanced sources.

• RCA: For unbalanced sources.

Pin Assignments:

• XLR: 1 = Shield, 2 = hot (+), 3 = cold (-).

• RCA: Center conductor = Signal, Ring = Shield.

Both analog inputs can be used simultaneously, and the signals will be summed. Depending on the setting of the “Max. Input” DIP switch on the rear panel, the maximum level of the source signal should not exceed +7 dBu or +22 dBu. If the input is overloaded, the LED ring will start blinking.

The EVE AUDIO SC3012 is adjusted for vertical placement by default. To use it in a horizontal position, you need to rotate the tweeter/mid-driver section (“Mid/High Silver Plate”) by 90 degrees. Follow these steps carefully to avoid damaging the speaker surface:

1. Remove the four screws of the mid/high plate.

2. Turn the whole tweeter/mid-driver section 90 degrees. The direction of rotation does not matter. Hold the section by the screws when handling it.

3. Fasten the tweeter/mid-driver section again with the screws. Tighten the screws only a bit tighter than you would by hand.

Power On/Off:

Use the Power Switch on the rear panel to completely disconnect the loudspeaker from the power grid. When powered off, all settings are saved and power consumption is 0 watts.

Standby Mode:

• To enter Standby Mode: Press and hold the front Volume control for three seconds. The volume will decrease gradually, and the LED on the right end of the ring will remain dimly lit. Power consumption is reduced to 1 watt.

• To exit Standby Mode: Briefly press the Volume control again. The volume level will increase gradually to its previous setting.

Volume Adjustment:

Turn the rotary knob on the front panel to adjust the volume. The control’s response curve is not linear; the increments become finer as the volume increases:

• -80 dB (minimum) to -48 dB: 2 dB steps

• -48 dB to -20 dB: 1 dB steps

• -20 dB to 0 dB (maximum): 0.5 dB steps

The LED ring indicates the current volume setting. If the LED ring blinks, it means the analog-to-digital converter is overloading, and you should reduce the output level of your audio source.

Mute:

To mute the monitor, turn the Volume control counter-clockwise until you reach the minimum level. When the LED on the left end lights up dimly, the Mute mode is activated.

To exit Mute mode, simply turn the control clockwise until you reach the desired volume.

The Settings Menu allows you to adjust three filters (Low, Desk, High) and the LED ring’s behavior.

1. Enter the Menu: Press the Volume control once. The LED of the currently active function will blink.

2. Select a Function: Turn the control to choose the filter (Low, Desk, High) or LED mode you want to adjust. The blinking LED indicates the selected function, while the steady-on LED indicates the current value for that function.

3. Confirm Selection: Press the control to confirm your selection. The blinking will stop.

4. Adjust the Value: Turn the control to adjust the filter setting or the LED behavior.

5. Return to Menu: When satisfied, press the control again to go back to the Settings Menu, where you can select another function to edit.

6. Exit the Menu: To exit the Settings Menu, either press and hold the control for three seconds or wait 10 seconds. The loudspeaker will automatically return to Volume mode.

The filters on the EVE AUDIO SC3012 help adjust the monitor’s sound to your room’s acoustics. Use them as little as possible.

• Low-Shelf Filter: Boosts or attenuates frequencies below 300 Hz in 0.5 dB steps. Use this to correct issues in the low-frequency range caused by room modes or speaker placement near walls.

• High-Shelf Filter: Boosts or attenuates frequencies above 3 kHz in 0.5 dB steps. Use this to compensate for high-frequency absorption or reflection depending on listening distance and room characteristics.

• Mid Filter: A bell filter with a center frequency of 1 kHz. It allows you to boost or cut the midrange up to +/-3 dB in 0.5 dB steps. This is useful for adjusting the balance between fundamental and harmonic frequencies.

• Desk Filter: This filter has two functions. When turned down, it acts as a narrow-band EQ cutting at 160 Hz to reduce low-mid boosts caused by reflections from desks or mixers. When turned up, it acts as an EQ boosting at 80 Hz to add more punch to the lower frequencies.

For all filters, the maximal boost is +3 dB and maximal attenuation is -5 dB.

The LED mode determines how the LED ring displays the volume level. There are four available options, which can be selected in the Settings Menu:

• Bright Ring: All LEDs up to the selected volume level light up brightly. The louder the signal, the longer the brightly lit ring.

• Bright Point: Only the LED corresponding to the selected volume level lights up brightly. The louder the signal, the further up the brightly lit point moves.

• Dimly Lit Ring: All LEDs up to the selected volume level light up dimly. The LEDs light up brightly momentarily while you adjust the volume level.

• Dimly Lit Point: Only the LED corresponding to the selected volume level lights up dimly. The louder the signal, the further up the dimly lit point moves.

Saving Settings:

Yes, all settings on the front and rear panels are automatically saved. You can disconnect the loudspeaker from power at any time without losing your settings. When powered on again, the monitor will return to the state it was in before being turned off (Standby, Mute, or a specific volume level).

Power Sequence:

To prevent switching noise with your monitoring system, follow these rules:

• Powering On: Power on all your audio sources first, and your loudspeakers last.

• Powering Off: Power off your loudspeakers first, and then all your audio sources.

The four DIP switches on the rear panel are used to secure your settings and select the input sensitivity.

• Volume: When set to “lock,” this secures the current volume setting. The LED ring will still indicate the volume, but it cannot be changed with the knob. When set to “variable” (var.), the volume can be changed normally.

• Filter: When set to “lock,” this secures the current filter settings. The settings can be read on the LED ring, but they cannot be modified. When set to “variable” (var.), the filters can be modified freely.

• Not used: This switch has no function.

• Max. Input: This switch determines the input sensitivity. For a typical studio environment where the reference level is +4 dBu, leave the setting at “+7 dBu.” If your source equipment has a very high output level that cannot be reduced, set the switch to “+22 dBu” to prevent input clipping.

Mains Voltage Selector:

The Mains Voltage Selector allows you to adjust the operating voltage to match your local power grid.

• Set it to “230” if your local power grid is 220-240 volts.

• Set it to “115” if your local power grid is 110-120 volts.

If you change the mains voltage setting, you MUST also replace the fuse with an appropriate one. The correct fuse values are printed on the unit underneath the IEC power connector.

Replacing the Fuse in the IEC Connector:

If your monitor stops working and you suspect a blown fuse, follow these steps:

1. Turn the loudspeaker off.

2. Disconnect it from the power grid.

3. Detach the IEC power connector from the unit.

4. Remove the fuse.

5. Change the fuse. The replacement fuse must comply with the values stated on the speaker chassis.

For optimal performance, follow these positioning guidelines:

• Obstacles: There should be no objects or obstacles between the loudspeakers and the listening position.

• Symmetry: Positioning should be symmetrical. This applies to the distance between speakers and the distance to the walls, ceiling, and floor. Symmetrical reflections are important for a symmetrical stereo image.

• Wall Distance: Keep a distance of at least 0.5 m (19 inches) from walls to avoid low-frequency boosting.

• Flush-Mounting: The monitors can be flush-mounted in a wall. Ensure there is enough air flow to keep electronic components cool and to allow the bass reflex ports to perform correctly. Keep at least 3 cm (1 in) of space to the sides and top.

• Height and Distance: The tweeter should be ideally placed at the same height as your ears. If not possible, tilt the monitors so the tweeter is directed towards your ears. The ideal listening distance is 2-3.5 m (7-11 ft).

• Rubber Feet: The supplied self-adhesive rubber feet should be fixed to the bottom of the loudspeakers to place them safely on an even surface and to improve acoustic decoupling.

The best way to place speakers for a stereo setup is the “stereo triangle,” where the two monitors and the listening position form an equilateral triangle.

1. Establish the ideal distance from your listening position (typically 2-3.5 m or 7-11 ft).

2. Place the monitors so that the distance between them is the same as the distance from each monitor to your listening position.

3. Turn both monitors so their front panels are pointed directly towards the listening position. All angles of the resulting triangle should be 60 degrees.

Hard surfaces like mixing desks and desktops can produce annoying reflections that alter the natural sound reproduction, especially in the low-mid frequency range. If you are experiencing this, use the Desk Filter on your EVE AUDIO SC3012 monitors. By turning down the Desk Filter, you activate a narrow-band EQ that cuts at 160 Hz, which can reduce the impact of these reflections.
