What is the EUROLITE MB-1010 Battery Motor designed for?

The EUROLITE MB-1010 is an indispensable accessory suitable for driving mirror balls up to a maximum weight of 1 kg. This weight corresponds with a diameter of 20 cm for EUROLITE mirror balls. The maximum load always means the mirror ball weight including the mirror ball chain and the fixation material.


What are the key features of the EUROLITE MB-1010?

The EUROLITE MB-1010 features 6-7 rotations per minute and is battery operated. It requires a Mono D, 1.5 V battery.


Are there special requirements for professional use of the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Yes, for professional use, such as in discotheques and in public places, the EN DIN 15560 norms have to be considered. Before taking into operation for the first time, the installation has to be approved by an expert.


What should I do if the EUROLITE MB-1010 has been exposed to a drastic temperature change?

If the device has been exposed to drastic temperature fluctuation (e.g. after transportation), do not switch it on immediately. The arising condensation water might damage your device. Leave the device switched off until it has reached room temperature.


What general safety precautions should I follow when using the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Always remove the battery when the device is not in use or before cleaning it. Keep away children and amateurs from the device and the battery. Never leave this device running unattended. The mirrorball must always be secured with a secondary attachment.


Where should the EUROLITE MB-1010 motor and mirrorball be installed?

The motor and the mirror-ball must never be installed over areas where persons may be seated or walk by. When choosing the installation-spot, please make sure that the device is not exposed to extreme heat, moisture or dust. There should not be any cables lying around. You endanger your own and the safety of others.


Can I use the EUROLITE MB-1010 with a smoke machine?

When using smoke machines, make sure that the device is never exposed to the direct smoke jet and is installed in a distance of 0.5 meters between the smoke machine and device. The room must only be saturated with an amount of smoke that the visibility will always be more than 10 meters.


What are the environmental operating conditions for the EUROLITE MB-1010?

The ambient temperature must always be between -5° C and +45° C. Keep away from direct insulation (particularly in cars) and heaters.

The relative humidity must not exceed 50 % with an ambient temperature of 45° C.

This device must only be operated in an altitude between -20 and 2000 m over NN.


What precautions should be taken with the battery for the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Make sure that the poles are correct when inserting the battery.

Never let batteries lying around openly as there is the danger that these can be swallowed by children or domestic animals. Immediately consult a doctor when batteries are swallowed.

Leaking or damaged batteries can cause irritations when getting into contact with the skin. In this case use appropriate protective gloves.

Make sure that the battery cannot be short-circuited, thrown into the fire and be charged. There is a danger of explosion.


How do I insert or replace the battery in the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Please refer to the explanations under Operating Determinations. Open the battery cover on top. If replacing the battery, remove the old battery from the battery compartment. Insert the battery and make sure that the poles are correct. Replace the battery cover and close it. Only replace by the same type or similar types recommended by the manufacturer. Remove empty battery in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer.


What type of battery is recommended for long life in the EUROLITE MB-1010?

In order to have a long battery life, you should only use alcaline batteries. If the device will not be used for a longer period of time, remove the battery in order to avoid battery leakage.


How should I dispose of old batteries from the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Please dispose of old and used batteries properly. Batteries are hazardous waste and should not be disposed of with regular domestic waste! Please take old and used batteries to a collection center near you.


What are the critical safety requirements for installing the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Please consider the EN 60598-2-17and the respective national norms during the installation. The installation must only be carried out by an authorized dealer.

The installation of the mirrorball has to be built and constructed in a way that it can hold 10 times the weight for 1 hour without any harming deformation.

When rigging, derigging or servicing the fixture staying in the area below the installation place, on bridges, under high working places and other endangered areas is forbidden.


Who needs to approve the installation of the EUROLITE MB-1010?

The operator has to make sure that safety-relating and machine-technical installations are approved by an expert before taking into operation for the first time and after changes before taking into operation another time. They must also be approved by an expert after every four years in the course of an acceptance test, and by a skilled person once a year.


What is important to know about overhead rigging for the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Overhead rigging requires extensive experience, including (but not limited to) calculating working load limits, installation material being used, and periodic safety inspection of all installation material and the mirrorball. If you lack these qualifications, do not attempt the installation yourself, but instead use a professional structural rigger. Improper installation can result in bodily injury and or damage to property.


What is the load requirement for the installation area of the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Before attaching the device, make sure that the installation area can hold a minimum point load of 10 times the device’s load (e.g. maximum load 1 kg – point load 10 kg). The durability of the installation depends very much on the material used at the installation area (building material) such as wood, concrete, gas concrete, brick etc. Always ask a specialist for the correct plug/screw combination indicating the maximum load and the building material.


How do I attach the EUROLITE MB-1010 motor?

Step 1: Attach the fixation bracket on the housing.

Step 2: Hold the motor onto the location where the device is to be installed.

Step 3: Mark the borehole with a pen or a suitable tool.

Step 4: Drill the hole.

Step 5: Install the plug and tighten the hook.

Step 6: Hang the motor in the hook.


What material should be used to connect the mirrorball to the EUROLITE MB-1010 motor?

The mirrorball has to be connected via an appropriate installation with the motor. We recommend to use the Chain for Mirrorballs up to 40 cm, length 33 cm, No. 50301600 or Chain for Mirrorballs up to 40 cm, length 100 cm, No. 50301605. The installation material must never include abrading material e. g. steel cables in order to avoid material wearing. The length of the chain must never exceed 100 cm.


How do I connect the mirrorball to the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Install the mirrorball chain with the screw-on chain link at the installation eyelet of the mirrorball and tighten the fixation screw. Insert the mirrorball chain with the mirrorball in the motor’s hook.


What should I check after installing the mirrorball with the EUROLITE MB-1010?

Make sure that the rotation of the mirrorball is never slowed down or stopped by decoration material etc. Make sure that no side forces can impact on the installation. Make sure that the mirrorball cannot be moved by air streams. The mirrorball and the motor must be installed and operated absolutely swivel free. Please check in regular intervals, if the hook or chain links have been deformed. Uninstall the mirrorball immediately in such a case.


How should I clean the EUROLITE MB-1010?

We recommend a frequent cleaning of the device. Please use a soft lint-free and moistened cloth. Never use alcohol or solvents!


Are there any user-serviceable parts inside the EUROLITE MB-1010?

There are no servicable parts inside the device except for the battery. Maintenance and service operations are only to be carried out by authorized dealers. In order to replace the battery please refer to “Inserting/exchanging battery”. Should you need any spare parts, please use genuine parts.
