The microwave oven, hereinafter referred to as “microwave,” is designed for use in recreational vehicles (RVs). This type of microwave is specifically designed to defrost, heat, cook, or dry food. This microwave is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions. It is not designed for industrial or laboratory use.

What are the functions of the control panel keys?

Key Function

What type of cookware is safe for the microwave?

WARNING: FIRE HAZARD. Do not use metal cookware or metallic materials such as aluminum foil or wire twist ties in the microwave. Failure to obey this warning could result in death or serious injury.

The ideal container for microwave cooking allows the microwaves to heat the food without heating the container. Labels will often indicate if a material is suitable for use in the microwave.

Do not use recycled paper products for cooking in a microwave oven, as they may contain small metal fragments.

Round/oval containers are better than square/oblong containers, because food may overheat in the corners.

In general, cookware made from heat-resistant ceramic, glass, or plastic can be used if the following limits are taken into consideration:
  • Heat-Resistant Ceramics: Do not use if decorated with a metal rim or glaze.
  • Heat-Resistant Plastics: Should not be used for long duration heating.

What are the electrical and installation safety warnings before installation?

WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK, FIRE, AND/OR EXPLOSION HAZARD. Failure to obey the following warnings could result in death or serious injury.
  • The microwave must be plugged into a properly installed and grounded power outlet. Improper use of the grounding can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service person if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.
  • Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service person install an outlet near the appliance.
  • If it is necessary to use an extension cord, the extension cord must be a grounded three-wire cord and the marked electrical rating must be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
  • Do not install the microwave in a location where the ventilation openings in the microwave or in the enclosure might become obstructed.
  • Do not install the microwave in a location near heat, moisture, high humidity, or flammable materials.

How do I select an installation location?

WARNING: FIRE HAZARD. The microwave may be built into a cabinet provided there is a minimum of 2 ft (61 cm) of clearance between it and any gas or electric range, cooktop, or oven. Failure to obey this warning could result in death or serious injury.

Select a location for the microwave that is away from heat and moisture sources, and that provides good airflow.

If a 120 VAC power outlet does not already exist at the desired location, consult a qualified electrician or service person to install one.

i (Informational): Locating the power outlet in an adjacent cabinet to the installation site allows easy access to the microwave plug in the event the microwave needs to be unplugged quickly.

How do I prepare the cabinet for installation?

For proper microwave operation, the cabinet must be:
  • Properly constructed and framed
  • The cabinet floor must be made from plywood with a minimum thickness of 3/4 in. (19 mm).
  • The cabinet front reinforcements must be cut from structural lumber.
  • The cabinet front must be made from 5-ply plywood with a minimum thickness of 1/2 in. (13 mm).
  • Sturdy enough to support the weight of the microwave plus the maximum weight of the cookware and food
  • Level from side-to-side and front-to-rear
Cabinet Construction and Cutout:
  1. Construct the cabinet enclosure with the following interior dimensions:
    • Height: 14.5 ± 0.1 in. (368 ± 3 mm)
    • Width: 25.4 ± 0.3 in. (645 ± 8 mm)
    • Depth: 22.0 in. minimum (559 mm minimum)
  2. If the power outlet is located outside the cabinet, cut an access hole to run the power cord to the outlet.
  3. Carefully mark the cutout in the cabinet front. The bottom of the cutout should be flush with the bottom of the cabinet. The cutout dimensions should be:
    • Width: 19.9 ± 0.3 in. (505 ± 8 mm)
    • Height: 14.5 ± 0.1 in. (368 ± 3 mm)
  4. Cut and remove the cabinet front cutout.
  5. Cut two reinforcements from 2 x 3 in. lumber.
  6. Position the reinforcements against the cabinet side walls, flush to the interior side of the cabinet front. The reinforcements should be positioned 1.5 in. (38 mm) from the top edge and 1.5 in. (38 mm) from the bottom edge of the cutout height (14.5 ± 0.1 in.).
  7. Secure the reinforcements to the cabinet front using a minimum of three flat-headed screws in each of the areas indicated for screw placement.
  8. (Optional) To increase airflow to the microwave, cut ventilation holes, 6 in. (152 mm) x 2 in. (51 mm), at the lower-rear of the microwave cabinet, all cabinets below the microwave cabinet, and at floor level.

How do I attach the trim to the microwave?

  1. Remove the protective film from the trim flanges.
  2. Orient the trim so the longer flange with a hole and slots is on top.
  3. Position the trim on the microwave, aligning the trim hole (center top) with the microwave middle hole (center top).
  4. Secure the trim with the machine screws until barely snug using the following tightening sequence (referencing screw positions in Figure 9 of the PDF): 1 (Top Center), 2 (Left Top), 3 (Right Bottom), 4 (Left Center), 5 (Right Center), 6 (Left Bottom), 7 (Right Top).
  5. Verify that the trim face is flush with the front of the microwave.
  6. Tighten the screws to 7 lb in. (0.8 Nm) torque in the same order as they were secured (1-7).
    i (Informational): Do not overtorque the screws or the screw holes will be stripped.

How do I install the microwave into the cabinet?

  1. Plug the power cord into the power outlet. The display will light up, then enter the standby state and the display will show 1:00.
  2. Slide the microwave (with trim attached) into the cabinet. Make sure that the microwave is positioned equidistant from the side walls of the cabinet.
  3. Push the microwave until the trim is fully seated against the cabinet front.

How do I secure the trim to the cabinet?

  1. Using the screw holes in the trim as a guide, drill a pilot hole (7/64 in.) through each screw hole into the cabinet front reinforcements. There are typically four screw holes (two on each side).
  2. Secure the trim to the cabinet front with the wood screws.
    i (Informational): To avoid damage to the cosmetic finish on the screws, a non-marring driver bit is recommended.

How do I set up the microwave for the first time (including turntable)?

NOTICE: The turntable should be removed from the microwave when preparing the RV for travel.

Follow these steps prior to using the microwave for the first time:
  1. Remove all packaging materials from the inside of the microwave door.
  2. Remove any plastic film that may be on the control panel or door of the microwave.
  3. Inspect the microwave for damage to the door and its components. If damage is found, do not operate the microwave. Contact an authorized service center for repairs or replacement.
  4. Place the turntable ring on the floor of the microwave.
  5. Fit the hub on the underside of the turntable onto the turntable shaft in the center of the microwave floor.
  6. Position the rotating ring so it is centered under the turntable and in the microwave. The turntable and turntable ring should rotate freely as a unit in either direction.

How do I set the clock?

  1. Press and hold the number key 0 for three seconds. The microwave will beep and the colon (:) will stop flashing.
  2. Use the number keys to input the time in HH:MM format. For example, 2:30 is entered 0230.
    i (Informational): The clock uses the 12-hour cycle.
  3. Press Start.

How do I lock or unlock the control panel?

Press and hold Stop for three seconds to toggle the child lock on or off. This feature locks the keys on the control panel for cleaning or as a child safety feature.

What are the operational safety warnings?

WARNING: FIRE, BURN, AND/OR EXPLOSION HAZARD. Failure to obey the following warnings could result in death or serious injury:
  • Do not leave the microwave unattended when paper, plastic, or other combustible materials are inside the microwave during operation.
  • In the case of smoke, fire, or overcooked food, turn off the microwave or disconnect the power cord. Keep the microwave door closed to smother any flames.
  • All surfaces, including the microwave’s door, can remain hot after operation. Take care to avoid touching the waveguide cover or other hot surfaces.
  • Containers and cookware may become hot because of heat transferred from the heated food. Potholders may be required.
  • Liquids and food should not be heated in sealed containers because they could explode.
  • Heating liquids can lead to a delayed sudden eruption of scalding liquid, so use care when handling the container.
  • Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea are able to be overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present. THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS DISTURBED OR A UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID.
  • Do not fry food in the microwave. Hot oil can damage microwave parts and cause burns.
  • Peel or poke holes in food with hard skins such as potatoes, sausages, and chestnuts before heating so steam can escape.
  • Eggs in the shell and hard-boiled eggs should not be heated in the microwave since they may explode even after heating has ended.
  • The contents of baby bottles and baby jars should be stirred or shaken, and the temperature should be checked before consumption.
  • Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bags before placing bag in oven.

How can I achieve the best cooking results?

Use these techniques for the best results:
  • Arrange the food carefully. Place the thickest portion of the food toward the outside.
  • Always cook for the shortest indicated time and increase it if necessary. Overcooked foods may produce smoke or catch fire.
  • Cover food during cooking. Covers prevent splashing and ensure uniform cooking.
  • Turn food over after half the cooking time has expired.
  • Rearrange foods such as meatballs from top to bottom and from the center outwards after half the cooking time has expired.

What should I know about operating the microwave regarding the turntable, cookware, and potential odors?

  • NOTICE: To prevent damage to the turntable, do not place hot foods or cookware on a cold turntable, and do not place frozen foods or cookware on a hot turntable.
  • NOTICE: Do not allow the cookware to touch the interior walls during operation.
  • NOTICE: When using a browning dish, always place a heat-resistant insulator such as a heat-resistant ceramic plate under the dish to prevent damage to the turntable and turntable ring.
  • i (Informational): A new microwave oven can cause odors due to production residues. Ventilate the living space when using the microwave oven the first few times. Heating a cup of water at high power multiple times is recommended to eliminate odors.
  • i (Informational): At maximum microwave power, the microwave cycles the power to extend the service life of the microwave.

How do I use Express Cooking?

This feature quickly starts cooking at 100% power.
  1. Place the food in the microwave and close the door.
  2. Choose the cooking time:
    • Press Start. The microwave will start and the timer counts down from 30 seconds. Press Start again during the cooking process to add increments of 30 seconds to the cooking time.
    • Press a number key (1-6) and press Start. The microwave will start and the timer counts down from 1-6 minutes.
The beep sounds when the cooking time is complete.

How do I use Standard Cooking and set power levels?

This allows manual setting of the power level and cooking time.

  4. Halfway through the cooking process, the microwave may pause and prompt you to turn the food over. Open the microwave door, turn over the food, close the microwave door and press Start to resume auto cooking.
  5. To remove the food before the auto cooking cycle is complete, press Stop once to clear the auto cooking setting.

How do I defrost food?

This feature defrosts food based on weight or a selected time.

Steps:
  1. Place the food in the microwave and close the door.
  2. Press Defrost until the display shows the desired method (dEF1 or dEF2).
  3. Use the number keys to input the weight (in ounces for dEF1) or time (MM:SS for dEF2).
  4. Press Start.
i (Informational): If defrosting by weight (dEF1), the microwave will buzz to indicate when to turn the food over.
The beep sounds when the defrost time is complete.

How do I set the kitchen timer?

This function allows a timer to be set when the microwave cooking function is not in use.
  1. Press Timer.
  2. Use the number keys to input the time (Maximum time is 99:99 MM:SS).
  3. Press Start.
The beep will sound when the countdown is done.

What are the maintenance instructions and warnings?

WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK, AND/OR FIRE HAZARD. Failure to obey the following warnings could result in death or serious injury:
  • Always disconnect the unit from power before cleaning and/or servicing. Maintenance must be done by a qualified service person only.
  • Do not allow food deposits or grease to build up on the waveguide cover.
NOTICE: To prevent damage to the turntable, allow the turntable to cool down before cleaning.
NOTICE: To prevent scratches to the window that could cause the glass to shatter, do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or metal tools to clean the glass.

The microwave should be cleaned regularly and any food residue should be removed. Not maintaining the device in a clean condition may damage the surface and shorten the service life of the microwave. Failure to properly maintain the microwave may void the warranty and could result in unsafe operation. Preventive maintenance is not covered under the warranty.

Never use harsh chemicals or abrasives to clean any part of the microwave.

How do I clean the microwave?

  • Interior: Keep the inside of the microwave oven clean. If food splashes or spilled liquids stick to the walls of the microwave oven, wipe them clean with a damp cloth. Use a mild detergent if the microwave oven is very dirty. Avoid the use of spray and other harsh cleaners, as they may cause permanent staining, streaking, or dull surfaces on the door.
  • Exterior: The outside surfaces should be cleaned with a damp cloth. To prevent damage to the operating components inside the microwave oven, water should not be allowed to enter directly into the air vents.
  • Door: Regularly wipe the door and the adjacent parts with a damp cloth to remove dirt or splashes. Take care to rinse away any cleaning product residue from the door’s interior that could interfere with a tight seal between the door and the microwave.
  • Control Panel: Do not allow the control panel to get wet. Clean it with a soft, damp cloth. Lock the control panel (press and hold Stop for 3 seconds) or leave the door open to avoid accidentally turning on the microwave during cleaning.
  • Waveguide Cover: Clean and dry the waveguide cover after each use of the microwave. Do not remove the waveguide cover.
  • Turntable and Ring: Wash the turntable ring and turntable with a mild soap and water. Dry thoroughly before replacing them in the microwave.

How do I remove persistent food odors?

To remove persistent food odors from the microwave:
  1. Pour at least 8 oz (240 ml) of water into a microwave-safe container.
  2. Microwave on high (100P) for three minutes.
  3. Wipe out the microwave with a dry, soft cloth.
