****** Page 5 ****** Safety information Before setting up the monitor, carefully read all the documentation that came with the package. To prevent fire or shock hazard, never expose the monitor to rain or moisture. Never try to open the monitor cabinet. The dangerous high voltages inside the monitor may result in serious physical injury. If the power supply is broken, do not try to fix it by yourself. Contact a qualified service technician or your retailer. Before using the product, make sure all cables are correctly connected and the power cables are not damaged. If you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately. Slots and openings on the back or top of the cabinet are provided for ventilation. Do not block these slots. Never place this product near or over a radiator or heat source unless proper ventilation is provided. The monitor should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer or local power company. Use the appropriate power plug which complies with your local power standard. Do not overload power strips and extention cords. Overloading can result in fire or electric shock. Avoid dustJ humidity, and temperature extremes. Do not place the monitor in any area where it may become wet. Place the monitor on a stable surface. Unplug the unit during a lightning storm or if it will not be used for a long period of time. This will protect the monitor from damage due to power surges. Never push objects or spill liquid of any kind into the slots on the monitor cabinet. To ensure satisfactory operation, use the monitor only with UL listed computers which have appropriate configured receptacles marked between 100-240V AC. If you encounter technical problems with the monitor, contact a qualified service technician or your retailer. The adapter is only used for this monitor, do not use it for other purpose. ****** Page 6 ****** Care & Cleaning Before you lift or reposition your monitor, it is better to disconnect the cables and power cord. Follow the correct lifting techniques when positioning the monitor. When lifting or carrying the monitor J grasp the edges of the monitor. Do not lift the display by the stand or the cord. Cleaning. Turn your monitor off and unplug the power cord. Clean the monitor surface with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Stubborn stains may be removed with a cloth dampened with mild cleaner. Avoid using a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner intended for use with the monitor. Never spray cleaner directly on the screem as it may drip inside the monitor and cause an electric shock. The following symptoms are normal with the monitor: The screen may flicker during the initial use due to the nature of the fluorescent light. Turn off the Power Switch and turn it on again to make sure that the flicker disappears. You may find slightly uneven brightness on the screen depending on the desktop pattern you use. When the same image is displayed for hours, an afterimage of the previous screen may remain after switching the image. The screen will recover slowly or you can turn off the Power Switch for hours. When the screen becomes black or flæhes, or cannot work anymore, contact your dealer or service center to fix it. Do not repair the screen by yourself! DVI port. This 24-pin port is for PC (Personal Computer) DVI-D digital signal connection. VGA port. This 1 5-pin port is for PC VGA connection. Audio-in port. This port connects PC audio source by the bundled audio cable. Earphone jack. This port is only available when an HDMI/DisplayPort cable is connected. Kensington lock slot. 1-4 1.3.3 QuickFit Function The QuickFit function contains three kinds of patterns: (1) Grid patterns (2) Paper size (3) Photo size. To activate the patterns, press the QuickFit hotkey. Press the Button again until a desired pattern is selected. 1. Grid patterns The grid patterns facilitate designers and users to organize content and layout on a page and achieve a consistent look and feel. In addition, Aimpoint function is specially designed for new gamers or beginners interested in First Person Shooter (FPS) games. Press V O / V and to select between Aimpoint and Timer function. Press MENU to confirm the function you choose, and / O to go back, off, and exit. ****** Page 17 ****** 2.1 Assembling the monitor arm/base To æsemble the monitor base: Have the front of the monitor face down on a table. 2. Attach the base into the armJ making sure the tab on the arm fits into the groove on the base. 3. Fix the base to the arm by fætening the bundled screw. We recommend that you cover the table surface with soft cloth to prevent damage to the monitor. 2.2 Adjusting the monitor For optimal viewing, we recommend that you look at the full face of the monitor, then adjust the monitor to the angle that is most comfortable for you. Hold the stand to prevent the monitor from falling when you change its angle. The recommended adjusting angle is +20 to -59. -50 to +200 It is normal that the monitor slightly shakes while you adjust the viewing angle. ASUS VX248 Series LCD Monitor 2-1

****** Page 18 ****** 2.3 Connecting the cables 1. Connect the cables the following instructions: VX248N VX248H HDMI VGA VGA Earphone jack DVI Audio-in 2-2 To connect the power cord: a. Connect the power adapter securely to the monitor’s DC input port. b. Connect one end of the power cord to the power adapter and the other end to a power outlet. To connect the VGA/DVI/HDMI cable: a. Plug one end of the VGA/DVI/HDMI/HDMIOVI cable to the monitor’s VGA/DVI/HDMI port. b. Connect the other end of the VGA/C)VI/HDMI/HDMI-DVI cable to your computer’s VGA/DVI/HDMI port. c. Tighten the two screws to secure the VGA/DVI connector. To connect the audio cable: connect one end of the audio cable to the monitor’s Audio-in port, the other end to the computer’s audio-out port. To use the earphone: connect the end with plug type to the monitor’s earphone jack when an HDMI signal is fed. When these cables are connected, you can choose the desired signal from the Input Select item in the OSD menu. 2.4 Turning on the monitor Press the power button d) . Trace Free: adjusts the response time of the monitor. Position (Only available for VGA input): adjusts the horizontal position (H-Position) and the vertical position (V-Position) of the image. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. ****** Page 23 ****** Focus (Only available for VGA input): reduces Horizonal-line noise and Vertical-line noise of the image by adjusting (Phase) and (Clock) separately. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. Phase adjusts the phase of the pixel clock signal. With a wrong phase adjustment, the screen shows horizontal disturbances. Clock (pixel frequency) controls the number of pixels scanned by one horizontal sweep. If the frequency is not correct, the screen shows vertical stripes and the image is not proportional. Language: there are 21 languages for your selection, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Czech, Croatia, Polish, Romanian, Hungarian, Turkey, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indonesia, Persian. Keylock: enables the key lock function. A long press for 5 seconds on the MENU Button disables the key lock function. Information: shows the monitor information. Make sure the signal cable is properly connected the monitor and the computer. Inspect the signal cable and make sure none of the pins are bent. Connect the computer with another available monitor to check if the computer is properly working. Adjust the Contrast and Brightness settings via OSD. Press the g / Button for 2-4 seconds to automatically adjust the image (for VGA mode only). Adjust the H-Position or V-Position settings via OSD. Make sure the signal cable is properly connected to the monitor and the computer. Move electrical devices that may cause electrical interference. Inspect the signal cable and make sure that none of the pins are bent. Perform All Reset via OSD. Adjust the R/G/B color settings or select the Color Temperature via OSD. Press the / Button for 2-4 seconds to automatically adjust the image (for VGA mode only). Adjust the Phase and Clock settings via OSD. Ensure that the HDMI cable is properly connected to the monitor and the computer. Adjust the volume settings of both your monitor and HDMI device. Ensure that the computer sound card driver is ro erl installed and activated.
