How do I perform the Disc Cleaning procedure with the ALERATEC 240132?
The Disc Cleaning procedure removes surface contaminants such as dust, dirt, fingerprints, smudges, smears, and stains. Follow these steps:
1. Open the kit and remove the cleaning head marked “WET”.
2. Remove the cleaning head cover and then use the plastic end of the brush to remove the cleaning head and the spring.
3. Remove the cleaning solution from the kit. Then, fill the cleaning unit with solution until 80% full. Note: Upon initial use, a sharp object such as a safety pin must be used to puncture the mouth of the bottle.
4. Then replace the spring and the cleaning head.
5. Open the top cover and place the cleaning heads marked “WET” and “DRY” in their respective places, as indicated on the machine. Once in, rotate each of them in a counterclockwise direction until secure.
6. Insert the disc (data-side facing downward) and then close the top cover.
7. Press the CLEAN button to begin the cleaning process, which lasts approximately 20 seconds. The machine will automatically stop when the cleaning process has finished.
8. Once the disc is cleaned, press the OPEN button and remove the disc.
9. Re-attach the cleaning head cover.
Note: During continuous usage, the “Dry” cleaning head will gather moisture. If it becomes too damp, either replace it with another dry cleaning head or discontinue use until it is sufficiently dry.
How do I perform the Disc Repair procedure with the ALERATEC 240132?
The Disc Repair procedure is used to polish scratches, scrapes, and other abrasions. It also adds a protective layer to the disc. Follow these steps:
1. Open the top cover by pressing the OPEN button.
2. Remove both of the circular repair heads from the repair protective kit.
3. Rotate the repair units in a counterclockwise motion until secure.
4. Place 3 drops of the repair protective solution on the side of the repair head marked “WET”.
5. Insert the disc (data-side facing downward) and then close the top cover.
6. Press the REPAIR button to begin the repairing process, which lasts approximately two minutes. The machine will automatically stop when the process is complete.
7. Press OPEN to remove the disc.
8. Gently wipe the disc with the included microfiber cloth to remove any residue remaining from the repair process.
9. Check for improvements in the ability to play/read the disc. If the disc has not been sufficiently recovered, repeat the Disc Repair procedure.
How do I perform the Disc Buffing procedure for severely damaged discs with the ALERATEC 240132?
The Disc Buffing procedure is intended for the most severely damaged discs. This process, which removes a small amount of plastic from the disc, allows deeper levels of damage to be repaired. Follow these steps:
1. Remove the pink Buffing units from the product packaging. Note: Buffing heads must be mounted onto clear plastic bases prior to use. Use the plastic end of the brush tool to pry each of the two Repair heads into its base. Install each Buffing head onto a base, pressing down gently until they snap into place.
2. Install the assembled Buffing heads into the motorized repair unit and rotate counter-clockwise to secure them.
3. Insert the disc (data-side facing downward) and close the top cover.
4. Press the REPAIR button to begin the Buffing process. It will run for approximately two minutes and stop automatically when complete.
5. Press the OPEN button to remove the disc, then follow with the Disc Repair Procedure to create a protective layer on your disc.
